Rumpke failed to take one of my two trash cans. I contacted them, they emailed me back. She stated someone would come get it within 24-48 hours. No one came. I emailed them again yesterday, this time with no response. We can't use anything other than their cans. We also have nowhere to put the cans but in the middle of our driveway because they are so picky about it. My cans are still out there. Original pickup was due 9-30-22. It is now 10-5-22. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and patiently waited. After reading all of these same complaints, I feel I've been given no choice. I cannot store bags of trash in my house! I chose the email route for contact so I had, in print, proof of what had occurred.Business Response

We came home from work to find our garbage cans missing. I spoke to customer service that said the cans were picked up due to nonpayment of rent. We do not rent our trash cans I purchase these cans 12 years ago with my previous address. We are renting *** ********* ***** and brought our cans along. Rumpke customer service confirmed the driver took our cans due to nonpayment of rent by a previous tenant. I have called three separate times spoke to two supervisors. The first supervisor said they would put out a request for information from the driver. I called back today the second supervisor said that was never done. They simply needs to return my trash cans that I own. We only have one can that’s included with our service. That’s not enough for a family of seven. Our trash piling up in the garage because we can only put one came out at a time. I have to drive to gas stations to dispose of the trash. I explain this to the second supervisor who could not contain her laughter.Business Response

We are a business customer of Rumpke. I received a Customer Service Agreement (see attached) in the mail after Rumpke replaced a leaking and damaged dumpster at our location. I did not understand the need for the agreement because were not changing our service with them, simply requested a replacement dumpster. I call the number on the cover letter to ask some questions. Based on the faint, print on the reverse of the agreement, I was concerned that if I signed the agreement I would be renewing service for another 3 years. Our current term goes through Sept 2023. I was told by the representative on the phone that signing the agreement would renew us for 3 years. To why the agreement was sent I was told to "update the information." I asked what would happen if I didn't sign the agreement and was told nothing. I feel this is a predatory behavior to unknowingly renew customers for additional years. The contracts automatically renew for 3 years unless one complies with their strict terms of notification by certified mail not less than 60 days and not more than 120 days before the end of the term. Therefore an "updated customer service agreement" is unnecessary. The purpose of my complaint is to make other customers aware of this deceptive practice.Business Response

She responded to the BBB complaint saying that she was unable to reach me. That is to be expected if you call after hours. I returned her call the following day and received her voicemail. I left her a message with my office hours. I tried a second time to return her call and again received voicemail. As far as I can tell neither Ashley or anyone else from Rumpke has attempted to return my call nor have they given any indication they intend to.Business Response

Rumpke takes pride
in providing the highest levels of service in the industry and our goal is to
always be transparent with our customers and supply them with exceptional
service. As discussed, part of the reason we send out a letter along with a
copy of the customer service agreement is to allow customers an opportunity to
update their information and renew their agreement, if they choose to at that
time. Customers often forget what their agreement states and request an updated
agreement when they switch their service, or request one when a contact name
has changed on their account.
Additionally,
sending a letter with the customer service agreement allows customers the
chance to correct any inaccurate information and serve as a reminder of what
the customer would need to do, should they decide to terminate the agreement.
An account representative along with a direct phone number is provided, so that
we can be contacted if any questions come up while reviewing the agreement, as
instructed in the letter.
Our preference is
not to remain silent and wait for contracts to automatically renew themselves,
we would rather be accessible and proactive should any customer service issue
arise, in order to keep customers happy with our service.

Rumpke service - I signed up for service on September 9th, scheduled for service to begin on September 14th (meaning first pick-up for my area to be September 20th). due to being out of town, I sat my trash out on September the 17th (right on the curb as instructed). I came back into town on September 22nd, with trash still setting on the curb - 1st call to Rumpke. I was told that it was an oversight and that someone would be at my location within 48hrs (though this is absurd, as it should have been rectified the next day, I said OK). 48 hrs later, my trash was still there. September 26th - called Rumpke again and was told they would look into the issue, but they noted that my trash is scheduled to be picked up the very next day. September 27th (scheduled pick-up day), I watched on my doorbell camera as the trash truck drove right by my location. Immediately called Rumpke about the continued issue and was told the same thing, someone would be there within 48 hrs (same lie I was told the previous week). Called back 3 different times throughout the day with no one attempting to pickup my trash. September 28th - trash still setting, with no commitment from Rumpke to honor the agreement we have (them to provide a service on a weekly basis and for me to pay them). The continued runaround of no one taking ownership and coming to pick-up my trash is pathetic. The supervisor of the residental driver should be responsible for driving to my location and placing my trash into his company truck and disposing of it (just like CSI trash service is done). If I didn't pay for 2 weeks, Rumpke would not set by and allow that to happen, but since they have not followed thru with the service I am paying for over the last 2 scheduled pick ups, I should let 2 payment cycles pass. So now I set in my new home with trash setting in front of my home and it continues to pile up.Business Response

I spoke with Amanda P. this morning and put in a report regarding my trash-collectors repeatedly leaving trash all over my property after their Thursday collection. This has been reported multiple times in the past. I leave the cans up-right, but they are in-turn thrown sideways while I'm at work, blocking the sidewalk with pieces of trash all around them. Every Thursday evening I have to clean it up for them with gloves. I have called and reported this in the past, without success.
Today I spoke with a supervisor named Kelly who stated it will be up to 10 business days, as she will need to get a report from the driver. She stated that it's "customer property" and Rumpke is not responsible for it, even if it's left where it was supposed to be per Rumpke Curbside Guidelines, and is then thrown-down (and now broken) during trash collection. As a customer, I do not feel this is appropriate or acceptable, as this wouldn't happen if the cans were left back the way they are left for the collectors' when I place it out there. (My tennants do the same).
The property owner is a 70+ year old woman, who has purchased all of the cans for both of her properties on this street from Rumpke. As longtime customers (four decades) at this address, this is unacceptable, especially when we are following Rumpke's Curbside Guidelines.
Multiple complaints have been filed by myself and my tennants. Now my can (which Rumpke referred to as my 'personal property') is broken as a result of it being thrown. We've witnessed them being tossed by collectors on various occasions. I want my property replaced, not a $20 off coupon, as was offered to me by Kelly. I don't want to purchase additional products,

To whom it may concern I'm calling in regards to a complaint to be filed against Rumpke Corporation waste and recycling. One of their trucks damaged my driveway while pulling out, and I made the complaint through the local office closest to my home and they said that things were going to be taken care of and that everything was going to be directed to the safety director. At this time It had been already approximately 1 month from the time of the first incident and there was still no reply. At fhos time I had already tried to temporarily repair the driveway due to prevent any further damage to vehicle pulling in and out. The driver came the next week and told me that he was aware that the damage had gotten worse and that he was going to let his boss know to call me. At this time we are going on nearly the 2 months since the first incident occurred and was still not resolved. Almost a week later I get a letter from the corporate office in OH, Stating that they were not going to do anything about my claim because it was an alleged occurrence that they were not going to hold themselves liable. I am extremely displeased with the response that I was given..I do feel that they are fully 100% liable for the damage.. I'm disgusted by the lack of customer service and care for their clients.... on June 14, 2022 I ordered a portable restroom. on June 27th I realized I needed a second one and ordered another. ( at 8;05 am and paid for it $ 139.68 ). later on that day someone from Rumpke called and said they did not have any event restrooms left , but I could have a construction one, may not look as nice. I agreed , no problem. my event was on July 9th. on July 7th they delivered 1 restroom, not 2. I immediately called and inquired, the person I talked to said, that it was to late in the day to find out but will get back with me next morning. I waited until next afternoon to call back, person said had no restrooms left, I was not getting a second one. she would put in request for a refund. I called once per week checking on it, to no avail. on august 1st I received a check for 34.79 ( not sure why this amount ) called and was told to cash it and a request for the remaining refund would be issued. I've spoken to Lisa Si ( extension **85 ) and Kristen B ( said she was a supervisor at ###-###-#### ) with no results. I call once per week to check but now only get voicemails, and no return calls. I left messages on 9/7 @ 2;13 pm and 9/14 @ 11;.09 am. with Kristen B. I am still owed 104.89. I paid for a product on 6/27 2022 that I did not receive, Now, 11 1/2 weeks later I still haven't been refunded. My old trash company was bought by Rumpke, I still had a month left in my old contract but Rumpke did not honor it by picking up my trash for the remainder of time and neither could my old company. I then pay Rumpke for three months worth of trash pick up and they did not deliver any service at all. FOR MONTHS IT HAS BEEN A STRUGGLE TO GET A CORRECTED BILL AND PY AND OUTSTANDING CHARGES. ON 7-16-22 I CALLED RUMPKE AGAIN AND WAS TOLD ALL I OWED WAS 66.38 OF WHICH I PAID. TODAY I GET ANOTHER BILL SHOWING ME IN ARREARS OF 73.76 AND CALLED TO DISCUSS THIS AGAIN. I SPOKE WITH A SMART MOUTH LITTLE GIRL NAME ****** I BELIEVE AND SHE COULDNT GIVE ME ANY ANSWERS AND TOLD ME THE BILL WAS 73.76 WHICH ISNT POSSIBLE SINCE PAYING THE ACCT IN FULL IN JULY AND MAKLING MONTHING PAYMENTS OF 34.30 WHEN THE BILL IS ONLY 34.10 PER MONTH AND IT HASNT BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE PAYING THE ACCT IN FULL. I ASK TO SPEAK TO A SUPERVISOR AS THEY DIDNT PICK UP TRASH FOR 3 WEEKS AND WE PAID SOMEONE TO HAUL OFF THAT TRASH AND THEY ARE NOT ENTITLED TO RECIVE FUNDS FOR NO WORK, AND TO VERIFY THE CORRECT BALANCE. I WAS LEFT ON HOLD FOR A GOOD 5 MINUTES TILL SMART MOUTH CAME ON LINE AND TOLD ME SHE WAS TRANSFERING ME TO JAN HER SUPERVISOR OF WHICH JAN HAD NO ANSWERS EITHER. I AM ASKING FOR A CORRECTED BILL WHICH REFLECTS HOW THEY COME TO THIS AMOUNT SINCE PER RUMPKE I WAS PAID IN FULL IN JULY, A CREDIT TO THE ACCT FOR THE 3 WEEKS THEY FAILED TO PICK UP TRASH.Business Response
