In an effort to keep this short and concise: we had a leak under a sink in a wet bar area of the house. A technician came by to fix the leak. The sink started leaking again in the same area a week or two later. A separate technician came out to make the final repair. The repair was for the SAME sink in the wet bar. Neither technician spoke virtually any English and we found out that we were charged for two service calls for the same issue due to the first technician writing in the notes that he repaired a kitchen sink leak while the second technician wrote that it was in a bar sink. After having multiple calls with the billing department about this, they said they would talk to the tech's; who by their their own admission do not speak much English, to find out if they could clarify the location of the leak.It has been multiple weeks and the billing department has ceased to answer any of my calls or voicemails. They have charged us twice for the same issue and now refuse to admit their mistake and rectify the situation. I have used Roto-Rooter in the past and their work is usually good, but this service experience is too typical of a company who does not care about anything except their profit. It says enough when they do not return four voicemails in two weeks from a customer. They won't care about this review, but hopefully it will help someone else who has a similar experience.

What a nightmare, RotoRooter charged $800 for incorrect and incomplete performance that resulted in a recommendation for a repair costing several thousand dollars. I had an issue with water backing up when the toilet flushed. The first RR technician pulled the toilet because he was inexperienced and unable to find the main cleanout. This 'extra service' cost a $150 premium. After thirty minutes the tech claimed his cabling was successful and left. Two weeks later I called RR again for the same issue. This time the tech promised that a camera crew will come to inspect for the real problem. I never heard a response from RR for scoping until shortly before I started this review. Several weeks later, after some heavy rains, sewage again frequently backed up into the house. I called RR again. This time a much more competent tech arrived and immediately located the sewer cleanout at the front of the house. He spends an adequate amount of time attempting to locate the clog in the lateral. He is convinced of a total lateral compromise and recommends the Sewer Lateral Repair Program (SLRP), a very costly undertaking. He scoped the fully charged lateral with inconclusive results at a cost of $200. The back office required over four days to complete the required two page SLRP application. During this excessive waiting period I found a preeminent St. Louis ***** ******* company that effected a repair before RR could even complete the paperwork. Within 15 minutes of arrival the company found that RR missed a second cleanout in the lateral which is what RR thought to be the compromise. In less than forty-five minutes the contractor had completely cleared and scoped the entire lateral, a task RR failed to accomplish in six weeks. RR mistake wasted $800 and had I followed the recommended expensive replacement would have cost several thousand more. RR needs to provide better training to their techs.

Evil, insidious scam monsters. Quoted me $27,500 for a job another plumber quoted me $2700 for. Tried to bankrupt us.

This is the worst company to ever deal with, if you got plumbing issues or drain lines plugged, do not call these people, you will be very disappointed. they love the money you give them but they do not stand behind their work at all. $675 later and the drain is still plugged, and they want another $125 to come out again

Same story as many others here. Basically scam artists. Called them in to check on a backflowing sewer line at a rental property with tenant present. They tried snaking it unsuccessfully. They put a camera down and said apparently they hit a section of broken pipe. Made me pay way too much for a simple diagnostic over the phone, without ever receiving an itemized invoice. Said they'd send a quote for the excavation the next day. It came in at $7200 (with a clause saying additional charges may be added as encountered i.e. blank check). Thankfully I got a second opinion from a REPUTABLE plumber. He went out, ran his cam, and said it was a grease clog that all it needed was a pressure lance. Cost like 200 for full same day repair. Still no itemized bill from RR. No camera footage or report. Oh, and they didn't even bother to put the toilet back in place after running the snake, beyond unprofessional. I feel sorry for the people here, especially the elderly, who were defrauded out thousands. Roto rooters behavior is highly unethical at best, I would call it criminal.

Roto-Rooter came out to my rental property to check with a video camera for a sewer crack. When I received the estimate via email, it stated that the video showed a crack in my pipe and I was given an estimate of $14,800 to fix it. Luckily, I paid two other seperate plumbing companies to check the pipe and both informed me I had no crack at all. After asking Roto-Rooter for proof of the video he took so I could see the crack he never was able to send it. I spoke to the GM and informed him of the situation and was told the employee "could not find" the video. Roto- Rooter is not only high in price but will blatantly lie to you. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!

Spend your money elsewhere. We take great pride in our home and live in a nice suburb where any improvements made to our home are taken with great consideration to quality. We don't have a problem paying good money for good quality products and labor. Our home has 2 of everything - 2 AC units, 2 furnaces, 2 water heaters, 2 kitchens, etc. Back in 2020 we had both of our water heaters replaced by Roto-Rooter. Within 2 years, one of them broke and RR came out to fix it. We were charged the labor and parts, thankfully the water heater was under warranty. Now, in 2024, the other water heater broke, and we had to have it replaced. In fact, we facetimed with a family member (out of state) who is familiar with this type of work, and he told us to "immediately turn it off or it will blow"! We have spent over $6,000 in 4 years!!! My concern is the lack of confidence that this company uses quality products and installs them with care and knowledge or concern of customer safety. The average life of a water heater should be 10 years! If RR cared at all about their customers, they would rethink the products they use and not charge hefty fees for work they did and crappy products they choose to use. All RR seems to care about is finding ways to overcharge customers for cheap products so they can fund their advertising and their Executive Leadership Team. Their selfish hope is to use their colorful advertising to entice more customers that they can s**** over. I find it unfortunate we can't support a local (**** based) company. We will be sure to share our experience with our community so others do not make the same mistake and use RR.

Update - the customer service manager reached out and I was hopeful a resolution would be presented but they have decided to ignore legitimate complaints. Here is part of my conversation with the manager.
It is my understanding that someone will be by to do a water test. While I can appreciate the effort, I'm not quite sure what this will accomplish at this point in the process. While the technician was installing the water heater (Monday the 15th) he made mention that hard water could be harmful and perhaps we should look into a water softener. We mentioned that we do have a water softener. Now, we're being told that a water test should be done because perhaps the water softener may be "eating the lining" of the water tanks. Well, which is it?
Regardless of what the water test may show (which requires additional time away from work for either my husband or myself), shouldn't this have been done prior to the initial installation back in 2020 to have prevented any issues and/or to have installed a water heater that is compatible with whatever type of water we have, hard or soft?
They did come do a water test and concluded our water is "perfect". It was also mentioned that the products from big box stores are not reliable and directly from a supplier would last several years more and better quality. Our issue is that we were NEVER given an option! We would have opted for the better quality product! There is a lack of consistent, accurate information and RR cannot be trusted.
Point is, RR is not consistent with the information they give you and will install crap products so they can purposefully charge you labor to fix mistakes that they create!

Employee Review: Andy F********* Service Tech #3170 Dear Roto-Rooter Management, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Andy F********, Service Tech #****, on July 8th, 2024 at 6pm. We called Roto-Rooter to address a clogged drain in my 93-year-old father's kitchen. Since my dad has hearing difficulties and communication challenges, we were particularly concerned about finding a patient and respectful technician. Andy exceeded our expectations. • Kindness and Respect: He was incredibly patient and understanding with my father throughout the entire process. • Expertise: Andy demonstrated a strong understanding of his trade by quickly diagnosing the problem and efficiently clearing the clog, which was located 35 feet down the drain. • Dedication: Despite already completing five calls that evening and having two more scheduled, Andy remained focused on resolving our issue. Overall, Andy's professionalism, expertise, and genuine care for our situation were truly remarkable. He is an asset to Roto-Rooter, and I believe he would be an excellent mentor for others who strive to provide exceptional customer service. Thank you once again for your outstanding service. We wish Andy continued success with Roto-Rooter! Sincerely, **** *.

Decent service just way over priced and feel completely ripped off. A simple snake of a clogged drain and was charged $600.00. I was told by multiple other plumbers (after the fact) that the charge should have been no more that $250. Not an emergency service either. I will never use this company again and will surely spread the word.
