In a nutshell.... $54,000 to fix sewer and downspout drains. After talking to county sewer dept and county ran cameras down property and street ...everything was fine. After vacation roto...oh sorry about that... Downspouts 2 weeks ago...$7,000...today...$2,000. I could go on and on...but im sure you get the picture. One more thing.... "You need to pay $1,500 to get sewer line jetted will take several hours". After telling them what county showed...sent someone back out to "JET" the sewer line...free of charge...took 30 minutes. RUN.RUN.RUN. They use total scare tactics. RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN...FASTER....RUN RUN RUN. ALWAYS call your sewer dept before deciding on any work...from anyone. So in the end... Sewer line OK...sewer line in street OK. Downspout line....after 2nd and 3rd opinions... Dig up 4 foot and fix it yourself for probably $50.00. NOT $50,000. *****. This is what the big business world has come to.

A few months ago I had water back up in my crawl space, I called Roto Rooter to come and assess the problem. They said there was standing water in my crawl space and they had tablet in hand and told me what all needed done, shared an approximate price of cleanup $4,000-$5,000 to clean up. They told me they deal with insurance companies all the time and they would handle filing the claim, which was a relief to me because I had never done that before. The next three days was a whirlwind and they had come in and tore out all my lower kitchen cabinets and floors to the bare wood. I heard nothing from my insurance company so I called them. Low and behold no claim had been filed and they said they would start one immediately. Once the adjuster came he let me know that none of the cabinets or flooring should have been removed since the crawl space had the water damage. Long story short they cleaned the water but refused to clean up when they realized there was raw sewage under there. They finally got paid but it has cost me more ways than just that. A separate claim had to be filed for sewage. and has caused future issues for me on getting insurance on other things. They did not complete the work correctly either. They said we have pictures. but the second company has pictures too and had to put all new vapor barrier down because Roto Rooter did not do it, but charged me for it! Luckily the insurance company paid it because they submitted a bill for $9,000.00, and was sending me past due bills! I would not recommend them at all!

I called because our outdoor drain was clogged. They sent a technician quickly who (I felt worked very hard). It didn't fix the issue.Today, someone came out with a camera, barely looked at the issue and said it was going to cost me $9,000. Later it became $7,500, but their manager was going to "hate them". I didn't like this, so I called another company. They literally fixed the issue for FREE, saying the bubbler was clogged. I offered them to have them clear out my line. They said it would be $850, and I gladly accepted this deal. The Field supervisor that quoted me $9,000 was ridiculous. He spoke poorly of the technician that came out yesterday and I really didn't appreciate that. That guy worked hard. All this guy did was try to scam me. Oh and the other company that I am using, said that they would do the same pipe repair as this company for ONLY $2,000. I lost money on this company and because of that, I will NEVER use them again. Shame on you all!

Wasted time and money $163 for someone to plunge my cellar sink but not fix the issue, and I can feel he did not want to. Paid the stupid bill and got him out of my house. Good luck if you have a real emergency, CALL A REAL PLUMBER save your money

I called them for an estimate. They came told me $25,000 to fix. I let them start but I found a cheaper and better company. But when they started the job they took my carbon monoxide detector down and never came back to find it or replace it. Very bad company to go with. I just want them to replace my carbon monoxide detector

November 2023. We had sewage backup in our basement cleanout. Roto rooter then scoped the pipes and found a crack in our plumming; the pipe was floating in the dirt due to tree root damage. They used some a metal detector-like device to locate the crack, and said that the crack in my pipe was just inside my patio; so close to outside that they could most likely fix the issue from the outside. They would dig a hole outside my patio with an excavator, and manually dig sideways to get to the crack. They quoted me 12k for the job, which sounded like a lot, but as the contract reads, it said that that would cover me even if they had to jackhammer our patio. Well, they missed the mark by about 30 feet, or more. I was in both rooms when they used the metal detector, so I have no idea how they missed it that badly. Not only was the crack further into the patio, but they said it was all the way into my finished basement. VERY misleading! They stopped all work and asked for an extra $19,000 to come into the house. When I told them there's no way that is happening, they didn't bother to jackhammer the patio and charged me 12k just to dig an 8-by-5-by-2 foot hole and snake my pipes free of tree roots. TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLARS for a hole in my yard! My contract states for 12k I was supposed to at least have the patio jackhammered. If you were not going to finish the job, at least refund what was not done. They acted like they did nothing wrong. They purposefully misled me by making it seem like it was "likely fixable" from the outside, when in reality, it was much further in. A local plumber said the total cost of the job, hole outside the house, jackhammer the patio AND the finished basement; 5 grand. Five thousand versus 31 thousand; are you kidding me? I can buy a NEW CAR with the difference! NEVER EVER do business with Roto Rooter. Their lawyers claim they are "expensive" but a 26 thousand dollar difference over the same job is not just expensive; it's criminal.

PASS ON ROTO-ROOTER - MOVE ON - 0 STARS IF WERE POSSIBLE - I LEARNED THE HARD WAY I asked for someone to look at my sewer line at Roto-Rooter. A tech came out, gave me a quote which included a courtesy camera scope afterward and then he cleared the obstruction and stated someone would follow up shortly with the scope. I paid him for the clean-out.A crew came out two days later & scoped it but made me give a credit card number. They stated if I needed a copy of the video of the scope, they would then run my card through at that time and send me the copy.I called back to them a couple weeks later after I had found that they ran my card through anyway - without me asking for a copy of the video. I had no need for it. Everything was resolved, but they have refused to refund me my $415.So essentially, I paid $415 for NOTHING. As stated, I do not need the video. I don't want it and I dont know why they ran my card five days later without my authorization.I usually pay attention to BBB reports/reviews but relied on a local radio host recommendation. Shame on me. It seems Roto-Rooter wears these negative responses as badges of honor.THESE PEOPLE ARE SCAM ARTISTS!!!

May 4th Roto rooter tried to clear a drain. After pulling the toilet for $600, and a lengthy drain cam, told us for $35,000 the street needed to be dug up. Another plumber was called. He augured out the drain plug in the front yard, and the plug was gone. The second plumber told me that the ‘bad’ photos I was shown were the cities responsibility. Glad we didn’t fall for their lies! Mark S******* was the supervisor

Roto Rooter was onsite 4 hrs for water mitigation & charged $3060 (63 pages). I went through the short version line by line & they reduced the fee to $2050.25. It went from $765/hour for 2 pers to $513/hr after adjustments. Rain water seeped into 2 bedrooms in the lower level of split foyer home. Here are some of the issues we identified, some of which could be verified in the pictures (63 pgs): 1.Emergency Service Call–after business hours, not so. All work was done approximately between 1100-1530 during the week. 2.Equipment was placed on 04/05–placed Thu, 04/04. 3.PPE–no suits, only booties & gloves. 4.Haul debris per pickup truck–no pickup truck, they put the little bit of carpet padding in plastic bags and took it in their van/truck. 5.Protect, cover with plastic–this was not done. 6.Tear out drywall–removed a couple of pieces approxiately 2x6" to see if insulation was impacted. The insulation was not fiber, it was Styrofoam type. So not necessary to do additional checks. 7.10 plastic bags/bedroom for disposal of contaminated items–no, only a small amount of carpet padding was removed in both rooms around the outer walls. 8.Tear out drywall and baseboard and bag for disposal–removed baseboard on outside walls, no drywall or baseboards were disposed of. 9. Apply plant-based anti-microbial agent–we initialed NOT to do this because of the animals. It was still done, or at least reported it was done. 10.RR Dry Logs-readings were reported on Fri evening & Sat when the equipment was unplugged sitting in our garage. RR Rep said this was not an issue because we weren't charged for that. No indeed it is an issue because RR put information in the readings report which were false. 11.RR claimed, “customer was not available to sign/initial the report.” My husband was onsite and available the entire time. 12.Charged for 2 Barrier/Airlock/Decon Chambers-1 was put on 1 door at the end of the day. 13.Charged for 2 Containment Barrier tension posts-not used.
