Back in February of 2023 my tenants told sub contractors of Duke energy were hired to run underground power or communications lines. This crew happened to find a “damaged reclaim tank ironically where they just happen to be digging. The next day my tenant said the toilets did not flush. I called my management agency and had a plumber come out . The plumber suggested hiring a company to scope out the lines. So i called Roto rooter out of Tampa . A representative came to assess a no toilet flush at my home. When he arrived and wanting to charge me $700 for a scope showing no clogs . It only showed a possibility of it breaking eventually. When i asked if replacing the lateral would allow my toilets to flush the rep said it would . After back and forth negotiations we agreed to a final number of $9000. To help me move forward i agreed to signing onto a payment plan with their loan affiliates. I was in a corner because i needed flushing toilets. The next day they started the job and completed it. “Guess what ? The work they did did not remediate the situation.” When the city inspector was there to sign off on the job my tenant told the inspector the toilet still didn’t flush. The city hired Roto rooter to fix the broken reclaim tank . Once that was fixed the toilets flushed. The original problem was the broken reclaim tank. I tried to work things out with the owner / supervisor of Roto rooter and explained the entire situation. (Explaining the work they did was not necessary and what they replaced did not remediate the problem. They replaced 45 feet ‘ of PVC PIPE . Destroyed my newly sodded grass and didn’t fix the problem until they were paid by the city to make the needed repair caused by the subcontractor for Duke energy.) i told them i had no problem paying for the job if it was necessary. It wasn’t . ( yes they did the job on false pretenses and yet i was willing to offer to pay for the MATERIALS THEY USED APPROX $2500 . I will go to the news with this publicly

Roto-Rooter sales representative Craig sold a new waste liner with a 5-year guarantee and 50 year warranty provided by the manufacturer. He said all I had to do was go to the manufacturer’s website to download the warranty after installation. The manufacturer I’m told does not provide a warranty even though this was all written on the contract. I emailed, called, texted and was dodged by Craig for months until he finally texted me back and said to take it up with Valerie in their main office. After going back and forth with her, “Roto-Rooter guarantees the service for 5years. Max liner is guaranteeing a 50yr life expectancy on the product.” So Roto-Rooter misrepresented their own contract after collecting over $5,000 from me. A warning for anyone looking to use them in the future for liner installations. DON’T. They will NOT stand by their own contract. AVOID. You’re welcome, I just saved you five grand.

Called for a dire need emergency clogged sewer line. They immediately scheduled a tech to come within the hour. Had an email confirmation. Over the next two hours I was contacted by a salesman from roto to come out and give quote for the remediation services for cleanup after clog was cleared this evening. I politely declined. After several hours I was contacted that they would not send a plumber to clear line and I could call back tomorrow. Bait and switch and poor business practice. Don't use this company. They wasted many hours of my time in which I could have contacted another service with their deceptive business practice.

Won't help correct there problem. Just want you to spend more money they won't even give you a discount to help correct there problem.******* came over and snaked my washer drain and went through the whole snake and couldn't unclog it. ***** us it might be a city problem so he calls his boss who comes over with a camera but the water is to dark to see anything so no luck. They also think it might be a broken pipe which will cost ****k to fix and that is what they wrote on my receipt. So when I call the city they will not come by unless my receipt states how far they went with the snake and why they think it is the cities problem and my receipt says none of that. So I call like 4 times in 3 weeks and finally was able to talk to someone who at the end just hung up on me because it wasn't there problem. Ask to pay half of what I paid before just to get them to come back and they said no. Ask for a discount since there ******* only wrote broken pipe ****k to fix and nothing about the city I got screwed and will have to pay full price to have them come out. They just want your money what a scam. The receipt says they fixed my clog which was false and I am now using a water pump to drain the pool out of my basement every time a do laundry. And all I wanted was a receipt that stated what there ******* said the 1st time but no.

They hide the fact that they do have an option for a payment plan. You have to ask for it upfront. They do not provide information before the work. Once they complete the work, you are no longer able to make payments. Never explained to me how the process worked until I called to arrange payments.

Awful experience. Charged 3 times what other place charged. Ruined our walk way ( which was thrown into pit. Backfilled over pipes with no stone so entire jog they did was worthless. Had to redo whole project. Talked to local manager and he could care less.

On July 2nd my basement flooded. Due to Roto Rooter being a well-known company we decided to utilize their services. Roto Rooter set an appointment for the 7th. The plumber was the first person they dispatched. He informed us that a clogged sewer line was to blame for the flooding in our basement. Then he informed us that it would cost $755 to clear the line and $1950 to to replace the pump. He deducted $200 from our $2700 total, leaving us with $2500 to clear the sewer line and repair the pump.Shortly after the plumber left, a member of the water mitigation team was dispatched out. Roto Rooters mitigation team are all highly dishonest people who take great joy in defrauding their clients and their clients' insurance carriers. When asked about the cost, he asserted that he was unable to provide us with an accurate total upfront. However, he guaranteed that the insurance company would cover cost and that the overall cost would be no more than $5,000 with a maximum of $8000.The plumber's work was completed before the mitigation team began because they insisted it was necessary. They began working on July 12. They arrived at 10am and left around 2pm, leaving multiple fans and a dehumidifier running, which utilized our electricity and raised our electricity bill. On the 13th, 15th, and 16th, they did not show up to check on the machinery. The only time they appeared was on the 14th, and we were informed that they would return the following day since the basement was still wet. Although my family and I thought it seemed dry. The equipment wasn't picked up until the 17th. The final bill from Roto Rooter was a total of $13078.69. It is a ludicrously high and unjustified sum of money for the service provided. It should also be emphasized that they should not be trusted with eDocs because two signatures on the invoice, as well as the certification of satisfaction, were falsified.

Overcharged, RIP-OFF, Theft I don't recommend Roto-Rotter Plumming, in fact I warn you to stay away from them. I had a leaking pipe in my house basement which was easily accessible. After a half done inspection, they informed me that I had to replace the main shut off water valve and the water pressure reducing valve. They charged me $2,500.00 for less than 5ft x 3/4" PEX pipe/tubing , 3/4" main water shut off valve , 3/4" water pressure reducing valve and a minimal amount of hand digging through soft mud. This job was done in 2 hours. Again, $2,500 for this fix. Absolute theft and an embarrassment to plumbing work. After repeated requests, to their reluctance, I received a long invoice which utilized big words, which were both unnecessary and misleading terms. I feel robbed by this company and hope that many others see this review and are able to save themselves from a similar situation to what happened to me.

A little over a year ago I called roto rooter after a sewer line backed up into the basement. They came out to snake the drain and found that ************ had collapsed and gave me a price of $8900 to fix the problem, which consisted **** hammering the floor up and part of the drive way and replacing line. I just had the sewer line back up again in the basement. The tech took a pic of the massive tree root ball in the line. Now how can that happen a little over a year later after they supposedly fixed the line?
