      On May 22, 2023, I utilized Roto Rooter for the first time. I had two small issues: a clogged kitchen drain and a part to be replaced in a toilet tank. When I made the appointment, I was told that the serviceman would give an estimate before proceeding to do the repairs. Since the serviceman came to my home before I could leave my job, my son was initially at the house in my place. My son was asked to sign a paper for the repairs to be performed, which he did do, but the serviceman did not give him an estimate beforehand. I arrived about a half hour later. The repairman had finished the kitchen repair and was working on the toilet, which took about ten or so minutes. The serviceman was at my home about an hour in total, give or take. When I was presented with the bill, I was charged $724. I almost fainted! For two small repairs and only about an hour's worth of work, I was speechless. The next day I called and spoke to a supervisor/manager. I expressed my dissatisfaction over the pricing. I expected to pay maybe $250 or so, but not $724 for such small jobs. I told the manager that ***** was unconscionable. He said they guarantee their work for 6 months to a year, depending on the service. I told him so do other companies that do not overcharge to this extent. I will never use Roto Rooter again! ****** learned.

      We had Roto Rooter out to try to fix a Downspout/Sump pump line around July/August 2022. They ran the camera through and said we need to run new drain line, we gave our approval and they ran it over to a point approx 30 foot from the property line. There was a collapsed pipe that they fixed, we thought we had our problems solved, wrong! Around April/May when he had quite a bit of rain our downspout and sump line started overflowing. We started calling Roto Rooter for someone to come out and check out what the problem was and kept leaving messages and could not get anyone to return our call or check out the problem. Finally I threatened to call Better Business Bureau and finally got someone to send Zack out to check it out. He ran the camera through and he then said he would call our project manager to see what could be done and that is the last i heard from them and that was May. I finally gave up and called someone else and they ran a camera through and he said we would need to finish that 30 foot of drain line that Roto Rooter left undone. They did not fix the problem last August they just put off the problem for us to fix later. We also found out that the neighbor's drain line also needed to be replaced. If Roto Rooter had finished my job they might have had another project from the neighbor. We had another company come out and they finished the job and the neighbor's job, too. Roto Rooter should have checked out all my problems and followed up back in August last year and fixed the problem once and for all, instead we had to go through the headaches again in the Spring after going through them last August,

      Used them 5 times over 10 years. They always recommended replacing my main drain but always jetted the tree roots real well. Now they find out Im selling the house and refused to jet the roots and did a half *** job just to clear the clog. Instead of clearing it all they got their camera out and got me on camera before showing the drain is in the same condition it has been in for 10 years and told me it will back up again within 2-4 weeks. It was nothing but tree roots which they blew out 5 times in the past perfectly fine. They told me this video is so the new owner can sue me for 4X the money to just replace it. I have a guy doing the work foe 25% of the price and roto rooter refuses to release the video I paid them to get. They are scam artists. Come out for a $500 job with plans of talking you into a $10,000 job

      Id rather not give that info. Your tech already accused me of listing my house for sale due to drains, even though I bought a new house 3 weeks before the problem. He also told me hes taking the video for evidence to help the buyer take me to court. You dont need my info here. I already have a guy doing the work and Ill remember not to use you at the new house.

      After getting a second opinion from another professional with a camera, I was told my cast iron drains look better than most (Roto Rooter said they look terrible). He also said my drains in the front yard are in good condition and would not recommend digging the yard up to replace good lines (Roto Rooter said they are all broken up)

      I had to get a new hot water heater, I was told by the technician he could get one from their ware house and be right back and it would be a little higher then home depot. What he did was get a water heater from **** *****. Home depot charges $589 for the water heater and Roto-Rooter charged us $10590 almost double. This is not a little bit more this is price gouging and should be adressed. If I would have known this I would have gone to **** ***** and pick up the water heater myself.

      The price should have stated $1059.00 They also charged us $590 for three hours to put the water heater in.

      Contacted Roto-Rooter "around" the end of February 2023 regarding my sewer starting to back up. They showed up on a Tuesday and tried to run a camera through my sewer line. When they couldn't get a camera though they tried blowing out the line. In fact they blew out the sewer line. They then determined my line was on a septic line. They told me it would cost about $30,000.00 to run ma new sewer line and connect to the City Main sewer. Since I was unable to find another local plumber (which I tried to find before contacting Roto-Rooter) I was stuck with Roto-Rooter doing the work. After having the work completed I contacted numerous other "LOCAL PLUMBERS" to get estimates of what "They would charge" to do the exact same work done by Roto-Rooter. I had 5 Local/Regional Plumbers show up and 2 declined to give an estimate. They declined because I explained what I needed and explained who did the work and how much then charged. They stated, "They didn't want to get involved because of possible litigation" but they couldn't believe the mess they left and what they CHARGED.However, the 3 Local/Regional Plumbers that did give an estimate quoted me the following:#1 - $3,800.00 #2 - $4,800.00 #3 - $8,400.00 As you can see a major price difference of the Roto-Rooter price of $30,000.00 The bottom line is without going into all the other issues I had with this Company, NEVER use Roto-Rooter as they are around 10X the cost of a local plumber.I would never recommend them to anybody. They are a SCAM Company.
