We reached out to Roto Rooter on Monday, March 20, 2023, after noticing water near the sewer cap. Pedro arrived with his equipment around 10:30 PM and insisted on working to clear the blockage. He continued until 1 AM without success & ultimately left after charging $392 on my credit card.
The next day, Jerrod J****** said it would cost $2600 to get the heavy equipment, then he said it would cost $6500. He came with heavy equipment and a camera clip to address the roots in the line. He showed us the video, and while the noise from the equipment was quite loud, he asked us not to use the dishwasher or washing machine until they finished. He also requested approval for the ********* loan paperwork, which I signed. I refrained from using the appliances for a day. When someone came the next day to work on it, I wasn't given a clear update on the progress or whether I could use the appliances again. The invoice I received shows a lumpsum charge of $8,300, for "Labor to Trench dig 4ft deep 10ft ft long. Replace cleanout 4inch pvc. Backfill with dirt and hey straw. 1yr warranty parts and labor. RotoRooter Not Responsibile for unforseen conditions.Labor to jet/descale sewerline from outside cleanout. Cleanout in back yard. Dig well take place after inspection of sewerline."
When we had the entire sewer line replaced few years ago, it cost us $6,000. I'm unsure how repairing a section of the same line could amount to $8,300. I was informed that the initial $392 would be deducted from the final invoice, but I don't see that reflected.
      I requested:
An itemized invoice to clarify the breakdown of the $8,300 charge.
Speak with a manager to discuss the current status of the work. Can someone show me the finished work ?
After repeated followup for last 2 weeks, they keep promising they will provide the itemized invoice, but I haven't seen one yet. I also called another company which is charging $1800 for jetting and $3000 for digging. I feel ripped off. Totally unacceptable.

Immediate response team was great, but the clean up crew were terrible. Took forever to get them to come out. Had to take multiple days off work just waiting for them to show up while we waited for raw sewage to be cleaned up by the "professionals". Charged almost $3,000 for spraying some cleaning fluid and setting up dehumidifiers. Don't hire unless you're willing to be overcharged and under communicated with. Customer satisfaction is very low on their priority list as long as they can bill you.

Terrible service, extremely overpriced, left my sidewalk unfinished, tried to leave cleanout above grade. Overall a complete disaster. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!

Called Roto Rooter to fix a leak on a toilet they worked on 6 months earlier.
The plumber came fixed toilet 1 (wax ring failure) and another toilet 2 (constantly running). Over $800 for labor , $80.40 for parts. A Job manager came by during plumbing repair with a hand device taking readings on the bathroom walls. We were told the leaking contaminated our bathroom and we should have it cleaned, demoed, and replaced. I wasn't convinced since there is a floor drain right in front of the toilet. But she is an expert with a hand device, so i followed her lead. She said our insurance company should cover this, since she does this alot, she would help us file the claim and collect from the insurance company. She gave us the impression we didn't have to do anything. She even called our insurance company to start the claim.
Immediately right a crew came to inspect, tape areas for demo, then set up and ran dryers. After coming in daily with hand device to take readings on the floor walls. When the hand device readings were finally good, they turned off machine and just left them. They asked ,"when should they start demos" I replied, "we have to wait for insurance ". I was becoming uncomfortable by the way they were trying to rush things. Then trying to get me to sign papers when i called them to pickup the machines. Since I didn't know how long insurance was going to take. I also remember hearing and reading we'd have to pay for what the insurance doesn't cover. So I wanted to wait to see how much the insurance would cover.
Insurance Claim was Not Approved, it doesn't cover this type of damage. We were also told, they were not able to get ahold of the Roto Rooter job manager for questions.
We also never heard from Roto Rooter after they picked up their machines.
Roto Rooter billed us for almost $3400 for Blackwater category 3.
What is Black water cat 3? No details.
Also I found out those hand devices measure moisture not contamination .

One of the water heaters was leaking so I called Roto-Rooter, big mistake, the plumber (Kostadin) suggested changing the other water heater at the same time and I trusted his recommendation not knowing that he is trying to create more work. He told me that it will cost between $3300 to $3500 to replace both and because I was desperate I know that is taking advantage of the situation I told to go ahead. He suggested that I buy the two water heaters, the valves, the fittings, the elbows, the copper pipes, etc. so he doesn't have to buy it then mark it up so I went to **** ***** with him and bought it for almost $1500. He spent about 4 hours to finish the job, then he wanted to charge me $3600 although I bought everything and it should be deducted as agreed on, but he argued that the initial estimate was for labor only. So $3600 for 4 hours, this is $900 per hour, I don't think quantum mechanics or nuclear phistatists make that much, never mind a plumber with no college education, it is just plumbing. I went to **** ***** and I asked how much it cost to install two water heaters, a sub contractor estimated less than $1600 if I buy the water heater only, everything else is included, which is much less than half of what this guy charged me. I called the area magare (**** *******, not sure about the spelling) and after multiple attempts he finally called me back to tell me the Rotor-Rooter is a high level company and they are expensive, he was rude and urgent, I really didn't appreciate his attitude. One of the actions I decided to take is to share my story so anyone reconsider hiring Roto-Rooter and make sure to do the due-diligence with others, very disappointed, they are none professional and can't be trusted

I called and they came out the same day, replaced my Hot Water heater. They wore booties over their boots, called me when the Plumber was on the way and took the old tank and cleaned up after himself. I'm very pleased with the Service I received. **** *.
