1 starWe had work done at our house by Roto-Rooter on 9/12. The work went unfinished with no contact from Roto-Rooter. I called them on 9/17 and did not receive a call back until they tried to collect the final payment for the work. I finally got ahold of them on 9/18 and let them know the work was incomplete and I would wait to pay after they completed the work, per our contract. They came back that day and completed the work. On that same day, between the hours of 10:30 and 3:00, my husband and I received 10 calls/voicemails from them wanted to collect the final payment. They also texted and emailed. They attempted to charge the card on file without our permission. My husband and I both work in jobs where we dont have access to our phones. In my opinion, the this behavior is excessive and aggressive. I feel like it is unacceptable to harass us for payment on the balance not even an hour after they completed the work. I called them today, 9/19 and paid the balance owed and I spoke with Aaron about the service. He stated that they would not change their behaviors and would continue aggressively collecting on their balances owed with their customers. I did not feel like Aaron was apologetic and willing to change their business tactics. I would not recommend working with this company at all.Review fromRon R

PREDATORY PRACTICE: That's how I would describe Roto-rooters actions and behavior. I was quoted nearly $15,000 BY Roto-rooter for a plumbing problem that only required a $12 part to fix. Roto-rooter cleaned out a blockage in my sewer line, which cost me $600. The next day the sent someone from Roto-rooter came out to put a camera down the sewer line and inspect the repair. After the inspection was done, I was told to repair the line, it was going to cost nearly $15,000 for a full line replacement -- and it might even cost a lot more if they have to dig up the road - as high as $40,000 or more. I won't give the person's name but his Roto-rooter title was Excavation Field Supervisor. As a result I obtained two second opinions: both of them confirm that there was no more blockage in the line and the other problem in the house (there were two total problems) could be fixed with a "Gripper" cap on my sewer stack. The gripper cap (which costs approx $12 at ******) fixed the problem successfully. Shameful and predatory. That's how roto-rooter does business in my experience.Roto-Rooter

I have used Roto-Rooter various times since I became a homeowner. I hired them for the replacement of my water heater when it broke down. I gave authority to fix everything on the water heater. They even suggest to increase the size of the water heater due to the people I have at my home. I said yes I approve. The installation was done and notice the expansion tank was not replaced because the plumber Said it's good. I should have told him then and there to replace it. But since he suggest it's good it does not have to be replaced I confined on him on his advice. Months later the expansion tanked started leaking and damaged was done in the water heater room. Due to confining with the plumber suggestion that the tank was good I have to deal with the damage. Any other plumber with common sense will suggest to change out the expansion tank as well. But Roto Rooter policy that suggest it's different work. I was not very happy with this outcome. Then I have them replaced the expansion tank for an additional charge and the next day it started leaking because the plumber did not install it right. He came back and fix it and said " I apologize I did not tight it well." The icing on the cake Roto-Rooters plumbers supervisor was suppose to access the damaged that was cause by the leaking expansion tank did not show and I had to call them to come look at the damage. Now it's weeks and have not receive a call from them to provide me with a quote for the damage to give to my insurance to fix the damage. Because i have to put a claim to fix the damage that the expansion tank has caused. My advice I would suggest not use Roto-Rooter for plumbing work. They will only do work to company standards and if they see other issues in your home they won't tell you until it becomes a problem. For them to fix for an additional price. Two Representatives have reached out but have not responded. The Slogan "We will drain your pipes not your wallet". Definetly drain my wallet.Roto-Rooter

Good morning, A roto-rooter representative finally called me and was telling me the policies that there w-2 must follow, they charge by a fat flare, and comapred there services to their an auto repair garage. I did not say a word and heard them out no interruptions. When it came to my turn to talk they kept interrupting. How can I discuss my situation and how my services went with the company if I keep getting interrupted. This not the presidential debate. Customer service is to hear what the customer has to say. If a customer is wrong you let them know why they wrong after they explain their situation. But if a customer is explaining the situation do not interrupted them in the middle of the explanation. It just common sense. I do not know what else to say. I'm trying my best to resolve this issue that I'm paying out of my pocket and now my time. Roto-Rooter needs to look over there policies or change how to do business. I spoke with many plumbers and rule of thumb is to if a new appliance is been replace and it will be working with an old appliance of course change the appliance. Same thing with her example of the car. Brakes are different to engine repair. But if the tires are worn out and the mechanic sees it. They will insist to change your tires even it still good. Both are still part of the wheel the brakes stops and tires keep the vehicle moving. I am not plumber but if I do research and see that the water heater and expansion do work together then I am not wrong. Why is your representative using an anology between mechanics and plumbers? I am not happy with this company and still do not recommend. Also, they were trying to explain to me about how insurance works. I do not why they had to when they were suppose to call me and tell me o provide them my claim number and the insurance I'm using to fix the damage there company caused. No communication from this company. I waited so long to get response since the damage. Until today this morning they finally called.Review fromRahul M

Despite the company's market reputation and high charges, their service was unsatisfactory. I have dealt with many plumbing issues over the years, but this experience was notably poor. I have reported the company to the Better Business Bureau to warn others about their inadequate service and focus on profit over customer care. I hope no one else has to endure such a frustrating experience with their service.Roto-Rooter

1 starRoto-Rooter was hired to perform a drain pipe jetting. Roto-Rooter's equipment damaged my drain system and they are unable to remove their equipment from my property. They cut the hose, left their equipment and quoted me 5x the original cost of the service to resolve the issue their negligence created. We are now going to small claims court to have this company held accountable for what they should have done in the first place; stand behind the quality of their work, complete services for their customers and not attempt to charge unsuspecting people massive sums of money to resolve their issue. As you can see from other reviews, Roto-Rooter has a pattern of trying to upcharge exorbitant amounts of money after an initial service request. Please don't fall victim to the same scam that we are now dealing with. Very disappointed with the lack of integrity of the Roto-Rooter company.Review fromK SHAWN A

I was charged $700 by Roto-Rooter to install just a few feet of water line insulation, but they left the rest of the house unfinished due to it being a tight area. After waiting a few weeks with no progress, I asked another company to complete the job while they were spraying foam in the crawl space. Now, Roto-Rooter is demanding payment for services they never finished. I could see for paying for materials but not labor for a job not finished. Completely unprofessionalavoid this company if possible.Roto-Rooter

1 starWe had Roto-Rooter come out to our house for a clog about 6 months ago. After the clog was removed, we started getting back-ups over and over again to the point that we could not use our bathroom anymore until we put a camera down to check it out. Roto-Rooter did come back a second time because of the recurring back-ups. The second technician told me that the snake was getting caught on something metal that felt like corrosion. Fast-forward to two days ago when we finally got a real plumber out here. Well guess what, the plumber had to cut open our pipes only to find a piece of the end of a snake stuck in our pipe that the original Roto-Rooter technician left behind. And then they told me that there is no proof that it was them that left it behind. Well, you know, until you came out that first time, we never had a problem in 15 years and then we get back-ups and something stuck in the pipe. Then the lady that I discussed this with on the phone actually yelled at me and then hung up on me mid-sentence. Needless to say, that the amount of money Roto-Rooter has lost me in insane and their customer service is absolutely terrible.Review fromCassie L

1 starWe were quoted one amount then charged $16,000 over the top of that. Tried contacting them to figure it out since they charged us for things they did not do and for a bunch of after hours work done during normal business hours. Initially when we called the computers were down so they would call us back (they didnt). Then we get a notice saying theyll place a lien on our property if we dont pay within a certain number of days, but it wasnt sent immediately so we received it the day it was supposed to be placed. The email listed for the contact with billing issues had a typo so it wasnt usable, but I figured out what it was supposed to be. Called and emailed everyone I could and didnt get a response for over a week when I contacted corporate. Eventually they reviewed my proof that they overcharged and took around $3,500 off the bill. I can only imagine what else they over charged on that I didnt have proof of. We repeatedly communicated that we had not received our insurance funds yet and would pay them as soon as we did. Meanwhile I got more than one call from their office saying I know you got your insurance money so you have to pay us now. We dont even have floors or doors in our freaking house. We did not have the funds. The day I got the funds I drove an hour to hand deliver the check to them. Now, 1 week later I get a letter saying they have filed a lien on my property. I talked to them the day they did it and told them the check should clear our account the following day and I would bring them the check. I called to ask about it and they said it should come off soon. It had been 4 days since the correct bill and apparently that doesnt matter. Were just supposed to pay their ridiculous over charges up front with insurance money we hadnt yet received and fight them to refund it later. I asked to speak to the person in charge and it has been ringing for 20 minutes straight with no answer. Imagine that.Review fromErie M
