I just went through their website and gave all of my information requested to get auto insurance. I haven't had an accident in over 3 years and I have a high credit score. Nationwide said they couldn't help me and referred me to ****** and ********. Ok, if you don't want my money, then that's fine.Nationwide

BEWARE OF NATIONWIDE HOME INSURANCE. I DO NOT USUALLY WRITE REVIEWS, BUT HAD TO FOR THIS INSTANCE. IN AUGUST 2023, I RECEIVED A “POLICY NOTIFICATION” REQUIRING ME TO COMPLETE WORK ON MY HOUSE BASED ON AN AUDIT IN ORDER TO KEEP MY POLICY. WHO GETS THAT? NO ONE I KNOW WHO OWNS A HOME HAS GOTTEN AUDITED AND WE JUST HAVE A BASIC HOUSE, NOT IN A FLOOD ZONE OR ANYTHING.
THE REQUIRED ACTIONS INCLUDED (1) FIREPLACE CLEANING, (2) TRIMMING TREES OVER ROOF, (3) ROOF REPAIR.
I WAS ONLY GIVEN UNTIL SEPTEMBER 27TH, TO COMPLETE ALL THE WORK TO KEEP MY POLICY. ONLY 1 MONTH TO COMPLETE ALL OF THIS EXPENSIVE AND TIME-CONSUMING WORK. THE NATIONWIDE REP TOLD ME I COULD COMPLETE THE WORK BY THE END OF THE POLICY YEAR, DECEMBER 31ST, 2023. I PROCEED TO GET THE ROOF WORK DONE PER WHAT THE ROOF EXPERTS RECOMMENDED, HOPE IT WOULD MEET THE REQUIREMENT, AND IF NOT BE GIVEN AN EXTENSION TO REDO THE WORK SINCE IT IS NATIONWIDE’S FAULT FOR LACK OF INFORMATION UP FRONT.
BY THE REQUESTED DATE, I COMPLETED THE WORK REQUIRED AND SUBMITTED THE PROOF. I CONFIRMED THAT THE SUBMISSION WAS RECEIVED BY NATIONWIDE AND ASSUMED EVERYTHING WAS ACCEPTABLE. UNTIL 2 WEEKS LATER, I GET WORD FROM MY MORTGAGE VENDOR THAT I DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND THAT IS IN JEOPARDY. NATIONWIDE CANCELLED MY POLICY, DID NOT NOTIFY ME AND I WAS WITHOUT HOME INSURANCE FOR 2 WEEKS.
AFTER SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS SPENT ON THIS REPAIRS ALONE. UPON CALLING, THE NATIONWIDE REP SAID THAT THEY ONLY SEND THE FIRST NOTICE (WORK TO BE DONE) AND NOT A SECOND. NATIONWIDE CLEARLY DOES NOT VALUE ITS CUSTOMERS. AGAIN, BEWARE OF AUDITS AND THIS COMPANY!
UPDATE: IN APRIL 2024, WE GOT A PAPER NOTICE THAT WAS SENT ABOUT POLICY CANCELLATION. WE HAD MOVED DURING THIS TIME AND IT TOOK 4 MONTHS FOR THE LETTER TO BE FORWARDED. WOW, REALLY? ONE FORM OF COMMUNICATION FOR SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS COVERAGE FOR AN EXPENSIVE ASSET? WE WERE CUSTOMERS FOR 3 YEARS AND NEVER ONCE FILED A CLAIM. THIS WAS SO POORLY HANDLED.Nationwide

When my dog was approximately three months old, I bought a major medical policy for him from nationwide. I never had a claim that exceeded my deductible until he was almost 3 years old. At that time, he started developing a paralysis in his hind legs. We had it diagnosed and he required surgery to correct the issue. Nationwide has denied every single claim that I have submitted on this policy. They have even denied the diagnostic work that resulted in the surgery. Their reason for their denial is they claim his condition is congenital therefore they are not paying one single dime towards his treatment or diagnostics. They have been unable to provide me with any evidence that his condition was present at birth. Again, his symptoms did not start until he was almost 3 years old. I find it absolutely unfathomable that a a medical insurance company would not even honor their commitment and pay for the diagnostic work required leading up to the surgery. Today I’ve been out of pocket almost $14,000 and they have denied every single claim. I would encourage anyone who is looking at obtaining pet insurance from nationwide to completely review every single piece of information in the policy as well as their reimbursement schedules. Even though they have not paid me a dime for any of the procedures, including the diagnostics required for my dog their schedule of reimbursement is close to the actual incurred. I am giving them a one rating however, if I were to give them an honest rating, it would be at zero based on their 100% denial performance.Nationwide

1 starThis has to got be the most grossly, INEPT company I have ever dealt with. Last year, I took my kitten to the ** because he was breathing very quickly and open-mouthed. The ** doctor (who's a story for another day) left the diagnosis as "open." I submitted the claim to Nationwide because I pay for them to cover my pet. Well, it'll be a year in July that I'm still fighting with them to pay a $1,000 claim because they decided that their claim processors know better than the ** vet and have deemed it to be due to his "pre-existing condition." He was hot. I figured this out when I brought him home from a freezing pet hospital and he started the rapid breathing again when he got into my home. Every time I call and submit what they state they need to reprocess the claim, guess what? I'm miraculously missing something else. DO NOT GET THIS "INSURANCE." It's a waste of money and is absolutely ATORCIOUS to deal with.Review fromJustin R

They are the WORST when it comes to home owners insurance. Recently had a roof leak. Called in a claim and hired a contractor to begin repairs by laying down a tarp to prevent further damage. Nationwide sent their inspector who not only removed the tarp but failed to reinstall. Contractor had to come out again to repair and documented further damage to roof incurred by NATIONWIDE. Claim was promptly denied and ZERO help given by Nationwide. They sent a secondary inspector out to appease our complaints and they again tried to remove the tarp (but luckily didn’t) and essentially denied the claim again cause we didn’t allow to them to ruin our roof a second time. Unbelievable the amount of ineptitude from a company and their inspectors who will further damage your property and claim ignorance while denying an assistance.Nationwide

One star is too many. This company has given us the run around since 2/14/24…today is 4/17/24. This is regards to an outstanding amount owed of $193.41 to the estate of a deceased pensioner. This is the worst service I’ve ever encountered and the incompetence is alarming .Nationwide

1 starThey can’t take down a correct address, so they will make your policy for the wrong location, then mail your bill to the wrong address, then cancel your policy without notice. Their website doesn’t work. Their app didn’t work for the nearly two years I had my policy with them. They should be called a scam provider instead of an insurance provider as they seem to not care about their customers experience at all, and they’d rather cancel your policy than keep you as a customer.Review fromJohn K

Surrendered a life insurance policy, was told 5-7 days for check to arrive to me, 14 days now. Almost comical to listen to the CSR tell me the check is in the mail. Unbelievably rude CSR's, absolutely no integrity from Nationwide, they are happy to take your money, but find it difficult to pay it out. NEVER use Nationwide or ANY affiliate, you won't be happy.Nationwide

We got a new policy with a different company before we canceled nationwide insurance. They went up on our premium by a substantial amount. They have reported to *** that we don't have insurance anymore and now *** is threatening to suspend our licenses. Now I have to take time off to go to *** and prove we have insurance. Its a shame an insurance company has to be this petty about losing a longtime customer because they are beyond greedy.Nationwide
