1 starI was seeking a new insurance provider for my commercial properties and decided to try Nationwide. The worst experience and decision possible. To start - I was informed from the sales representative that my properties were reviewed and cleared by their underwriting team after speaking with the rep for almost 1 month on considering their services. After paying 6 months worth of premium (over $7k) and receiving an email my certificate of insurance - The rep then calls me back a few days later advising that Nationwide cannot honor and provide insurance on my properties. The excuse received from Nationwide is that the underwriter made a mistake by missing some company policy changes starting 2023 and they could no longer honor the coverage. I requested a refund via ACH and they've advised on an overnight check being the quickest route. Two weeks waiting and having to speak with multiple representatives - no results have come. I've escalated my request to the Customer Relationships department, supervisors, customer service representatives..etc. This is getting to the point of being ridiculous as I'm having to constantly call and hound Nationwide on getting my money back on the error that they have made.Review fromSierra C.

I followed the long process of rolling over my 457B account. After submitting, and resubmitting, the required documents, I was told that I didn't submit a Letter of Acceptance (LOA), which was not the case. Only after contacting *** ******** ******** ******** **************, did they clarify that my LOA was not submitted in their preferred file format, pdf (I submitted it as a word document because that's what was shared with me).
The incredibly bureaucratic process, and ambiguous response as to why my LOA was not sufficient was an unpleasant and frustrating experience. As a young adult, I imagine this process also discourages others from resolving issues to complete a rollover due to Nationwide's bad practices.Nationwide

Don't waste your time or money. They constantly deny claims but can't explain why and have gotten outrageously price. Dogs insurance is more expensive than mine! It's also really not worth the price for a normal healthy dog. End up spending more on yearly insurance vs what is actually spent on the animal, unless they get major issues after the policy is in stated. But then, in true insurance fashion, will all but guarantee they would jack up the rates.
But my favorite, was that my debit card got stolen last summer and forgot to update my billing info which normally isn't a problem because I'll get an email and/or letter from them stating my payment didn't go thru. This time, I got nothing at all except for dropped from lack of payment! No notifications at all just bye *******! Problem is that now that my dog has some health issues, so can't even start a new policy because these issues will be considered "pre-existing conditions" leaving me to foot the bill 100% plus the cost of useless insurance.
Save yourself the headache and stay away from Nationwide!Nationwide

1 starThe absolute worst. There adjuster are not knowledgeable at all when dealing with your claims. I had an uninsured motorist claim for my Texas auto policy and the adjuster did not know how loss of use works! I also presented proof for a diminished value claim and Nationwide did not want to honor the amount owed. They do not have Fair Claim Settlement practices as they will lowball you and feel they do not need to show proof of how they obtained their numbers! As an insurance company the burden of proof is important, you will think they would know this! They are the absolute worst, the managers Art Austin and Rob Knott were useless also! This company has no structure or procedure they handle the claim however and make up stuff along the way! If you are not familiar with insurance do NOT use them, their adjusters do not know how to do their job!Review fromCindy C

Please people don’t use Nationwide we had a claim which nationwide approved quickly but took 7 months to fund the rebuild so we stayed in a hotel for 9 months we knew our rates would increase the next year but I don’t understand why it went up 100% and this year will increase another 300.00.It took us getting in touch with insurance commissioner to finally get nationwide to look and finally fund our claim the hold up caused us to stay in hotel much longer than than needed the rebuild only took 2 months to complete. All the extra money for hotel and cost of food may the claim outrageous.I feel nationwide was a big part of why claim went so high in money but don’t understand why our rates went so high we already called other companies three of them widely known companies and we have been turned down they said was because of the amount of claim pay out we are on a fixed income money is tight here at our homeNationwide

Nationwide did call and said they broke no laws everything was done in a timely matter I don’t agree but Nationwide said they weren’t sited by insurance commissioner of ********** even though we stayed in a hotel for 9 months and didn’t get a reaction from nationwide until I contacted insurance commissioner just be careful people and read other reviews before you decide on an insurance company if you are wandering yes I tried to find an insurance company that would cover our house but we were turned down because of the claim against nationwide so we cut out some coverage and up our deductible so at least we have some coverage nationwide said my agent was fired from her position but if everything was done by the book why was she fired? Good question I haven’t any answerReview fromAm M

Scammy business practices. We got the pet insurance. Absolutely no coverage on any of the promised items. Rationale is pre-existing conditions. This is because the pet having had once kidney crystals means anything related to urinary system is considered a broad sweeping pre-condition.
Beware, stay awayNationwide

1 starWe bought a homeover a year ago, we paid 1667.00 something on insurance for a year I cave the cleared check. Our house caught on fire we went to put a claim in and they told us our insurance had been canceled for non payment . We called everyone till we found out the real reason was state farm made a mistake when typing it up and put wrong address of the property at first when they got the correct address they didn't put the money we paid towards the correct policy. They said they sent a check back to us a year ago so I asked was the check cashed they said no. So long story short, they had a good Christmas that I couldn't give my kids, they have all they need in their homes we have nothing all because of their typing skills they ruined someone's life, not on your side.Review fromChong X

1 starNationwide is a horrible company. I had got into an accident which was the other vechile was liable for. I tried several times to get them to fix a bumper after witness and police gave a statement of who was at faught and no response. Countless email and calls with no answer or response for help. Why would you choose a company to insure your car when they are not fare. I will also be calling the MIA. If anyone need this info for their claim being missed handled.

I filed a claim against their insured who back into me. From the start the interaction with staff at this company was horrific. The individual that took the initial claim information was rude and had no customer service training. The adjuster they assigned asked over 3 times how did the accident occur. I finally told him I had answered him so no matter how he rearranged the question my response was still going to be the same!
They sent 2 checks to cover the full amount of the repair to my vehicle then turned around and voided one indicating that the person who issued it made a mistake. This is a terrible insurance company and I would never recommend them. They are rude, condescending and are not very professional nor are they honest!Nationwide
