I had a new roof installed by Erie Construction last April, 2022. The sales rep. said this included the gutters being cleaned, plus the gutter above the kitchen would be replaced. I also requested a copy of the original contract. My concern is that the gutter in the rear of the house, being jammed with debris, will cause ice and snow damage to the interior and roof. Also, the afore mentioned gutter above to kitchen overflows,, causing water to accumulate in the basement. Despite several phone messages to ******* *******, as of this date, nothing has been done.Business Response

We hired Erie roofing in October 2022. They started on 10/24/2022. they tore off our metal roof to put new roof on. I noticed when they started to shingle that it was not material I had chosen to put on my roof. I called **** the installation manager immediately. he asked me to please let them finish installing the wrong material because it was going to rain. I said I understood. They were on my roof after dark, in morning we had a chance to look, they destroyed our facia, shingles were put on crooked. it was a mess. This place charges a premium for highly skilled labor, it appeared that they were not qualified to do my roof, 10/26/2022 sent **** a picture of my house, he came took pictures and said he would get back with me. Nov. 11 2022. [28 days] later a crew showed up to do repair. there was no communication on what they were going to do. gave **** my email. told crew they had to leave until we could figure this out. came back 2 hours later and they were at my house after being kicked off. made them leave again. emailed **** and told him we are done with company. he also cussed me out on phone for not letting them work. I gave them a thousand dollars down. was told I would get 800-dollar gift card. with that being said we have decided to hire our own people to fix this mess. We do not trust them; the verbal abuse was awful, and this is going to cost me a lot more money. I would have NEVER torn off a metal roof to put a cheap asphalt shingle. the salesman showed us a 2.5 to 3 ft shingle with a hard back. we were upgrading. not downgrading our homeBusiness Response

Erie Home apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused. Per the signed contract attached, the customer did agree to have the Fiberglass roof installed. Per email communications on 11/22 we did offer to come out and replace the facia, repair the ridge vents, and replace and shingles that were not sealed, and the customer told us not come back on their property.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because: I did not agree to asphalt shingles. I agreed to a hard back shingle. that the salesman showed me. I was supposed to have a walk through with someone to tell me how they were going to fix this problem. Why would I let this company back on my roof? The wrong shingles were put on. and poorly. they are not layed flat. To repair this roof would take some pretty well-trained roofers. They do not have quality help.

I signed a contract with this company on 10/26/2022 and paid a $3,000 deposit. I mailed my Notice of Cancellation by 10/31/2022, which was the last day allowed per the contract. I hired a reconstruction to put a new roof on my home Earlier this year. The main concern was Spa leaks around the chimney area the flashing. I told them I didn't ever want to deal with this again they assured me I would not. Within a few months water damage around this area got very bad parts of the ceiling have been falling in I am reported this to Erie construction in August They assured me they would pay for all the damage and make sure it was fixed properly once and for all. They sent somebody out to check it when I was not home but the wind had blown the covering of the flashing off of the chimney and around that area it broke big bricks in the process And I was told that this was my problem not theirs by the person who could be sent out. I have tried to contact every construction many times since then as I have pictures of this chimney in the area and any damage that was done was done by them during the installation. The person who I signed the contract with and who told me I would never have to worry about that part of the roof again had gone up on the roof he had checked it all out he took pictures if there were problems at that point he would have said so. At this point I don't know what to do I can't get the people at area construction who claimed to have a Triple A plus plus plus plus rating from you guys to return calls or anything. I just want the problem fixed once and for all as I was promised initially I don't want any more of these people they send out to tell me it's my fault in my responsibility. And I want them to make good under promise that they would take care of this and pay for all of these costs on their own. What do you suggest I do.Customer Answer

[BBB transcription via duplicate complaint]
I just submitted my request however following reading of others issues with this company Erie Construction I feel the need to file more complaints. 1st off I was told and shown by the salesman that they had a Triple A plus rating from you guys. I'm looking at the rating here and it's ABB rating. 2nd off I wanted to find out my qualified for the free When I responded to their adWhen I responded to their ad. If we were rough was never mentioned No responded to what I asked about it. I believe the price I was "d and paid was way too much money I'd like to know what other people paid. The crew that showed up before 6:30 in the morning blowing horns and driving all over my property Left a huge mess all around my property as well as trampling over azaleas and other landscaping plants. I was not allowed to check anything for I had to pay the crew which was not the agreement I shook hands with The salesman Is the salesman on. I would held the final payment until They made some attempt to clean up the mess. But that was scary as the man who kept coming by unannouacted like you wanted to hurt me physically and I had to complain to the company about it. The roof looks good and as I mentioned in my 1st complaint there's leaks and the flashing blue off in a wind breaking bricks around the chimney. I'm not quite sure where to go with this but I don't appreciate being lied to and if I had known it was a BBB rating I probably would not have agreed to The contract in the 1st place let alone the price. I don't know why people lie to customers eventually it catches up.

[BBB Transcription via Duplicate complaint]
Last year I paid Erie. construction $38000 for a new roof. I noticed last summer water entering my home and damage from the flashing that they had installed.. I called the company I was told they would replace the flashing and repair all the damage at their cost no cost to me. Later in August of last year the flashing blue off during a windstorm breaking a bunch of bricks along the chimney as well.. They sent somebody out who has since been fired for lying. Nothing happened I filed my first BBB complaint and got a phone call. They sent somebody out a couple of months ago they sprayed clear silicone All over the area. He would not leave until he made me take a picture of me smiling by my front door - I did not appreciate or want to do as I felt he was trying to make it look like I was happy. The flashing needs to be replaced they need to fix the leaks and the damage to my ceiling. The flashing that is currently on their blew off In late August of 22.. Travis the person who's been fired since literally slapped it back on with anything he had in his truck at the time and told me it needed to be replaced properly. I don't know what to do. Phone numbers that they gave me and people that said they were going to take care of this are no longer in service and the leakes and damage are getting worse. I am concerned about black Mold and other issues surrounding this. With regards to the specific issue I shook hands with the salesman for Erie Construction as he told me I would never have to deal with an issue such as this ever again. Frankly it has been a nightmare dealing with this issue. The same salesman explained that their Triple A+ rating from the BBB was based on their ability to resolve issues. He also went up on the roof and in the attic and found no re-existing conditions that would cause the current situation.

Signed an initial $12,000 contract with Erie Home 8/5/22 to replace the roof on my home. Contract price was reduced from $12,000 to $10,000 because they determined they needed to add another layer of shingles. No problem there. On 8/23/22 the new contract stated I would be paid the $2,000 difference "within 2 weeks". As of 11/15/22 I'm still fighting to get the $2,000 refund check. I've been told that it was because their a) system moved to Salesforce b) various people were not in the office c) the amendment wasn't sent to people in the office. Was finally told on 11/15/22 that my refund check has been issued after monthly excuses from **** at Erie Home.Business Response

Erie Home apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused. Erie has replaced her
shingles, and stopped all leaks. We have been out there 3 times and caulked her
door jam and primed it where the water spots were. There is no damaged drywall
or water spots on her drywall. We explained to her that there is no damage to
the wood under the shingles and that the water that had gotten in when it was
leaking will dry out. She explained that she was going to have a contractor
come out and test for water damage. We advised her that was not a problem and if
there was damage to her wood written up in a report from this contractor we
would take care of it. At this time we have heard nothing from her since.Customer Answer

They tell me to find someone that can do the job inside like drywall and so on no one wants to touch it because the roof isn't done. They explain if they fix something then the roofers came back and did their job and did more damage from the inside I don't want the fingers being pointed to me.

Erie Metal Roofing has an Ad. Claiming you qualify for a free roof. Then when they come out they tell you your entire roof needs to be replaced because it has completely failed. (Second and third opinion said they scammed us)
Then they basically tell you you have to decide tonight or you won't get any of the savings. But the reason I'm writing isn't because of the forceful sales tactics or the lying, they are saying they have an A+ Rating with the BBB (you) but they aren't even in your systems. They made me let them take photos or our IDs, write out SSN down on a PAPER application, and email them our pay stubs, and have never gotten back to us, that was 3 days ago. I feel like I just got mine and my husbands identity and debit card info stolen.Business Response

Erie Construction Mid-West, Inc.
Date of first meeting: July 28, 2022
Date of roof installation: August 12, 2022
Date of signing it was completed: August 16, 2022 (to the best of our knowledge)
On July 28th we met with **** ******** at our home located in Sturgis Michigan. We agreed to terms and an amount on a contracted price and signed all documents to proceed with getting our roof replaced through Erie construction. We were told that we would be receiving texts and communications as a group as to when things would be happening and we would know the day before they were coming. We had materials delivered with no communication, we had a trash dumpster delivered with no communication. We had very limited information of when the team would arrive and the dumpster was left in our driveway for days after blocking our garage making it where we were unable to park inside it.
On August 12th the roofing team showed up and completed the roof but did NOT complete the gutters as we had agreed upon in the original contract. The construction team pulled all of our landscaping decorations out of our front landscaped area (we had just completed in July and cost approximately $1500.00) and when they put them back a couple of the lights were broke, things were not put back in the correct location, the decorations were not put back correctly causing us to have to redo the whole area again.
On August 16th we signed a contract stating that the job was complete with the understanding that we were being reimbursed for the incomplete gutters and compensated for the extra work we had to do to the front landscaping.
We also had a leak in the roof AFTER it was replaced and it took them over two months to finally get out and fix the leak on October 20, 2022. We placed many calls and texts to the company.
A call log can be provided if needed as I have all of that documented and recorded as wellBusiness Response

On August 8, 2022, we signed a contract with Erie Construction and paid our deposit for a new roof. We went with them not because they were the cheapest, but we were impressed by the sale persons professionalism and knowledge of the product. Our job was started on September 1st, and it was anything but professional. I was told they don't subcontract which was a lie! The people who came to our home were disrespectful of me and our home even damaging the lights. We have an 8-10 car driveway that was left for them to use but they parked on our grass and was rude when i asked them to move the vehicle. After completion of the job, they did not clean up behind themselves which we were also told would occur. We were told we would get a walk around to ensure the job was correct before signing off that did not happen and when I asked the project manager, he said that was unreasonable to expect they could do that for every job. when we voiced all of our concerns, we were given as amended contract for a rebate which we were told we would receive within 14-21 days as of November 1, 2022, we still have not received our rebate and calls and emails regarding the status have been ignored by Erie. After the agreement on the September 6th, the dumpster was removed approximately a week later, and they damaged our driveway in the process we sent pictures and called to let them know this has never been addressed by Erie. The sales pitch was amazing, but they did not deliver what they sold us. Beyond disappointed!Business Response
