OnJuly 8th, I took my 2014 ******* Elantra into Les Schwab for brake replacement. I received the brake replacement and new tires. Upon leaving Les Schwab I was told that it was normal for brakes to be a "little loose" for the first few hundred miles and to take more time to stop until they are "seated". I noticed upon leaving that the breaks were soft and taking a little longer than normal to break, but had been reassured this was normal. On July 11th, I was driving home from work and my brake peddle went to the floor. The "emergency brake" light came on on the dash. My brakes were barely stopping the vehicle. I had to use my emergency brake and downshift in order to make it to the nearest Les Schwab. Upon arriving, I explained the situation. It was determined the the caliper piston was bad (which had just been installed). Unfortunately, they did not have the part in stock and it would have to wait to be fixed until the part came in. I had just gotten off a 12 hour night shift and needed to get *************. I had to uber home and arrange for pickup later. Ultimately, the brakes were fixed for a second time. The most concerning part is that when I called the corporate number to complain, I was told that "all parts are remanufactured and we use the best company there is. There is no way to know whether a part is good or bad until it is on the vehicle". When I asked how they could send customers away not knowing whether a part was "good or bad" on a vehicle, they stated that "every vehicle is test driven after brake completion". I sat in that store for hours and did not see one vehicle go for a "test drive" to ensure safety of potentially faulty parts that they were installing. Corporate stated that was not policy and that it would be looked into. However, I have not heard back. Les Schwab has openly admitted that they are installing potentially deadly car parts on vehicles and have no way of knowing so until the vehicle is brought back or an accident happens.Business Response

Swapped/stole parts, over charged and work not completed. Brought my truck in for an alignment and to check out a speed wobble. Was told alignment wasnt the issue and that they would need to change a few front end parts to make it right. I agreed and scheduled an appointment. The next week dropped off the truck for what was going to be a one day fix, took them a day and half and was told to pick it up the next morning. Only to get there and they said they needed it another 34 hours, luckily I got dropped off 30 minutes from home... Got called later that first day saying that they broke a bolt getting it off(steering stabilizer bolt). Not fully understanding what was broken but needing the truck fixed I told them to replace it. For this they took a 3 month old upgraded Rancho steering stabilizer that I installed recently and replaced it with a basic bottom level shock, charged me $110 for the shock, it was a $30 part Assuming they broke it(not sure how, these are incredibly easy to take off and on) they should have replaced it with what was there and not charged me extra for their mistake and then not replace it with same/similar parts. My upgraded drag link was also installed at the same time the new stabilizer was a few months ago. I was told by the mechanics that it was destroyed in the 3 months(2,500 miles) of it being off alignment . Not sure what lower grade part they slapped in there but I can only assume not great. So the truck still wobbles at 60mph. 3 days after the work was completed and I paid $950, I find the stabilizer shock hanging out of the front of the vehicle with bolts missing.. So far Ive been able to get $215 and a Rancho shock back after lots of hassle. Even going to corporate they seem to not care, they told me they would be in touch with me a week ago. No word. *** told them Im not in the least bit satisfied being that I will now have to pay another shop to get it fixed. This in my opinion is a chop shop.Business Response

I gave Les Schwab ample opportunity to fix the issue. They told me to give them a chance to see the truck again so I rented a vehicle with my own money and gave them 2 1/2 weeks of time to get the truck into the shop and they never did. They actually ignored all of my calls and voicemails that I left at corporate office with ***. That is who I had been discussing our complaint with. I am still less than satisfied, if not, even more irritated that they have started to ignore me. I have decided to take the truck elsewhere to get the work complete and my complaint stays unresolved.Business Response

Went in for a brake issue. They said new front brakes would solve it. Agreed. $560. Drove home. Almost crashed into my garage, twice. Issue we went in for was not solved and they want $671.99 more to solve the actual issue that they missed in the first place. This place is a joke. And they owe me $3 for my scooter ride there on my third trip in one day since I was tired of walking.**** is nice though.Business Response

I took my car to les schwab on Friday the 7th because of a rattling sound, they instead gave me new struts and said the car was safe to drive. Because of a misdiagnosis of the problem it continued and proceeded to becone worse so my car was brought back in on Monday the 10th where they found the bolt for one of the control arms was 8 threads loose, they were surprised I was able to drive my car because it put pressure on the back control arm and cracked it. Over the phone les schwab admitted that their machine loosened the bolt which caused the damage to my vehicle. When they told me the part I would need to fix my car I was told the wrong name so I had to keep calling until I was given the correct name of said part. And les schwab said they didn't check where the bolt was when I originally brought it in which caused my car to be unsafe when that was the reason my car was brought in the first place. Because les schwab didn't actually fully check my car before telling me it was safe to drive there could've been a terrible accident, instead of taking any accountability for not doing their job right the first time I was told I have to take my car to the dealership to fix the damage that was caused because les schwab misdiagnosed the issue and didn't do a full check of what could've caused the rattling sound when I originally brought my car in. I don't want this to happen again.Business Response

I have been a customer of ********************** previously. I totaled my car in April 2023 and purchased a new car in May 2023. Noticing a rumble, I had Les Schwab in *********, **, check my alignment. They notified me of cracks in the wheels and I had the worst one replaced then and there. I visited the Les Schwab location in **********, to replace the remaining 3 wheels in totality. The rumble did not go away. I took my car to another mechanic and was told all 3 of the tires replaced by ****** Les Schwab was defective. The tread is terribly uneven on brand new tires, all 3 were underfilled and set improperly for my *********** and one wheel was even missing a bolt! They just didn't finish it! While it's not a dangerous job, it's a sloppy one done by someone inexperienced with Volkswagens and shows a lack of quality testing on the tires themselves. I had previous incidents where I was double charged for unnecessary work, lied to by Les Schwab personnel, and made to wait 3x the expected time for simple work. A brake pad slipped on my previous car, but I was so unwilling to allow the same Les Schwab mechanic to touch my car I brought it to a different company to fix it. I should have learned my lesson * however, the St Helens Les Schwab did speedy, quality work. The Monroe Les Schwab fitted my car with 3 defective tires, did not set or align them properly, did not fill them properly, and forgot an entire bolt on one tire. After paying nearly $900.00, needless to say, I am disappointed and frustrated.Business Response

Regarding Les Schwab on ***** in ******, Oregon. April 2023, purchased 4 new tires for $800, was told it would be done in a day or two- called a couple days later to be told the tires weren't even ordered, it took 4 different delays and 10 days later. This is a large work truck that seldom gets used; weeks later it was put to use and a terrible vibration/shake became apparent. Brought it back to Les Schwab only because the tires were just replaced- they quoted me $800 to fix the shocks and suspension and said they could do it same day (Friday) called me later to tell me they couldn't do it until Tuesday and more work needed to be done for just over $1000. The shake was NOT fixed. I called Les Schwab customer service and explained the situation and was told to take it to the Junction City location for further assistance. The junction city location notifies me my brake pads are nearly worn, the rims are ***** on two tires- one of which was just replaced by les schwab and the new tires WERE NOT balanced per policy and that two tires had bulging and warping. This poses a very dangerous situation to life and property should any of these components fail. Les Schwab failed to test drive after work, balance new tires, notify me of bad brakes and bulging tires and almost $2000 later and SEVERAL days of lost work and revenue, the issue is still not fixed. I have lost money, time, and posed an unknown danger to myself and those around me driving this truck in this condition- because Les Schwab failed to do their job. I do not believe the work preformed was necessary and now I have to spend more money to fix the issues that Les Schwab originally failed to notify me of.I am asking for a full refund at the very least.Business Response

We regret that **************** had a negative experience with ****************, Oregon Les Schwab Tire Center. We take customer reports seriously and work diligently to immediately address customer concerns.
According to *********************** records, **************** purchased four new tires on April 26, 2023 and carried them out of the tire center. The tire center did not install the purchased tires on any vehicle.
On June 21, 2023, **************** brought his **** **** F350 (vehicle) to **************** tire center and informed the technician there was a clunk in the front end and a shake. **************** then took his vehicle to our Member Dealer store in Junction City. I am rejecting this response because:The original problem was not properly identified when the tires were mounted on the rims, resulting in a service that was performed under guise it would fix the problem that was specifically brought in for. The second location managed to identify the issue due to the Eugenes locations lack of performance and fulfillment of the requested service. The manager called minutes before closing on a holiday weekend, and did not listen to my concerns about the service for which I ultimately wasted $1,000 on and have not gotten resolved.

Last month I asked for having to jump my car daily. Check battery trouble. Incompetent work led to replace battery. Which did not resolve my problem. Only after I went on a wild goose chase with diffrent vendors trying to fix the issue. Returned to les schwab and complained again. This time they found the real problem. But did not offer to fix it. Like the first time half assed their professionalism. I went through a week of h*** taking it to other vendors. But the manager did not care about that when I called him to try and work out my compmaint. He defended the Incompetent work have a nice day attitude. Blamed me for not asking to see proof of service claim. Its the customer fault from the guys claim to be customer orientated I had extra parts on my battery to try and help my issue. Extra nuts so they would not lossen up from virbration. Lead caps to make sure the terminals fit tight ensuring good charging. Tell me the service guy just ignored this effort. He must be hard headed or something. And none were returned to me. They rushed to judgement. Selling me the most expensive battery. Telling me my problem was resolved. Explaining to me we only check this check that fix what we consider. They refused to listen to me see what trouble I had or recognize my efforts to fix my problem. Sales over service. They should shut down their service department. Run a sales parts only business. Do trust these guys. Or else be prepared to pay the price of incompetent work.Business Response

You guys are so good at your game. Still putting the blame on me. I came to you for your professional service. And the best that you give to me is to ignore my complaint by insulting your service. Maybe you didn't read it correctly the first time.
I went to your business complained I was having to jump start my jeep everyday. Mentioned there was a strange problem from time to time. Always having to jump start the *********************** rep sounded like he knew what could be the trouble. He even said if it were a cable problem they wouldn't fix it. He never showed me any results. No battery test. No cable broken part. He showed me the cost of repair invoice. That's it.
At the time of payment. He says to me. The negative cable connector broke fixed it. I noticed on the bill he is charging me an installation fee. Battery test fee and minus on battery a test fee. So why didn't he put any thing down about the cable fix he did?o
And this sorry excuse of a manager. I blame him more than the service guy. A 256 dollar fee is more than a k25 charge. Why would I lie? I'm just the old fool paying .

We are in receipt of ******************** additional correspondence. As Les Schwabs previous response states, ****************** was shown the battery test results which reflected a bad battery and agreed to have the new battery installed on May 18, 2023. Les Schwabs store manager, ****, informed ****************** there was an issue with the negative terminal connected to his old battery while trying to remove the terminal from the post. ****************** was brought in the bays and shown the issue they were experiencing and they let him know it would take a bit longer to complete the service. ****************** returned on June 15, 2023 for a battery check and the store found there was an issue with the positive battery cable and communicated that to the customer. Due to the design of the factory cable, and the fact we do not replace battery cables, the store recommended he take his vehicle to a full-service shop for repair.
********************** old battery was removed from the store a week after it was installed on the store's next battery order. **** said that ****************** called the store in July asking why the store won't fix the issue, and again, **** communicated that Les Schwab does not replace battery cables, and again recommended that he take the vehicle to a full-service shop.

I am rejecting this response because: the store manager and the service mechanic have both provided false information in their defense. But let say it is true what they claim. That would mean they went against their ethical conduct. And they admit their incompetent professional behavior. If it is true. They should have sent me away refused to do bad work. Not sold me a battery I did not need. Defending their work. But no. They both decide to claim they showed me the test results before hand. That they Repaired battery connector telling me before hand. And I agreed. All is a big fat lie .the service mechanic told me about the battery connector when he presented me the bill. He never showed me the broken connector. They want everyone to believe their story's. Like if I am just a big fat liar it's the customer fault. I will be surprised if the manager still has a job after this. The real problem is this. I am 61 years old. Older than both. And they don't know how to respect their elders. They behave like ***********************. It is disgusting. That store manager has got to go. Out of the company or back to manager training 101. Let me give you a taste of your own medicine.
Da I don't know boss. I did like you said but this old fool geezer just won't go away. Ok then have it your way. Butter me up with a couple of fix flat tires. Refuse to take any tips. I can be the sucker m*********** Laugh you ***** off. Shame on you two. Les Shewib and you work.
Sincerely,

Please understand me correctly. I have not will not provide any false information. While the store manager continues to insult me. By providing false information. I claim he is not interest in providing what they stand for. He was not there to verify the service mechanic tell me the battery connector had broke and he notified me right away. Nor was I shown a battery test result. In fact I gave the service the benefit of doubt. Just like the store manager is asking me to do so now. I made that mistake on my initial visit. Look where that got me. Along with many insults. Mea culpa. But I refuse to make that mistake with them now. If I could only get the respect they claim to be in offer. We would be done by now. Mr store manager. Are you listening?Business Response

Why is it so difficult to be understood? I complained of incompetent service. And felt taken advantage of. Being sold a very expensive battery. And in a subsequent response. I asked why didn't they simply direct me to a different service provider before selling to me that unnecessary very expensive battery? Now they have finally recommended me find a full service provider. They haven't even said sorry. They stand by their incompetent service. And ignore my complaint as if I cannot be heard or respected. Idk maybe they don't know how to read?Customer Answer
