This company called me to promote ads on a golf course nearby. I paid over $1000 for space on their golf course. After 3 months of not seeing any progress I called ***** (one of the reps) to ask about it. He was incredibly rude and litteraly told me "I don't have time for this sh***" I can tell you that a professional company would never communicate in that manner. I can see how their sales people are training specifically to control the situation and intimidate. I notice that there are several lawsuits already against them and I'm plannin to seek legal advise to follow up with a suit.Don't be fooled by them!Business Response

We have contacted **************** in order to address his concerns. We have apologized to **************** for any harsh language that was used during communication with him. We apologize **************** is so deeply offended. **************** is not interested in amicable resolution. ******************** advertisements have been produced and shipped to their host golf courses with his approved artwork. It is unfortunate, but not a surprise in today's society, that he does not care that the jobs were completed. Hopefully as his business experience continues, he does not experience an unreasonable customer making demands and threats until they are placated. We consider this complaint closed.Initial Complaint

I wrote a review of this company yesterday and realize today that an official complaint is required. After telling this company multiple times to stop contacting me, they called me again yesterday morning. What's more, they contacted me under the guise of acting on behalf of my local golf course. I contacted that golf course and they informed me they are NO LONGER doing business with Benchcraft and the golf course itself is trying to STOP Benchcraft from calling businesses in our town. This is a clear SCAM. Benchcraft is attempting to sell me ads at a golf course that is not actually working with Benchcraft. Please look into this matter on behalf of our local golf course. There is no way this company should have a high rating with the BBB. The facts and customer complaints are quite clear. There are potential criminal implications here when they are selling ads at a golf course they do not represent. And just because I'm sure they'll come up with a clever response, note that I did do business with them last year. I was unhappy with the ad and don't believe it matched what they sold me. But I don't care about that anymore... The problem is the country club cut ties with them (probably because of all the complaints) and Benchcraft continues to pretend they represent them. ~*******************************************, **Business Response

This complaint is unfortunate and inaccurate. Not surprisingly, it will more than likely not be closed as satisfied. ************ seems unclear as to how contracts work. If ************ had spoken with the owner of the golf course as opposed to the random worker in the shop, he would have found out we have a multiyear contract to print scorecards for the golf course. He is giving free advice to the bbb and to our company, on how to operate our businesses. Clearly our history over the last 41 years and the bbb history over the last 112 years speaks for itself. **************** 4 and a half year business experience is evident. We have note in our system that he would prefer not to be contacted with advertising opportunities. Hopefully as a business owner ************ comes to the realization that sales calls are a part of the package of owning a business. We consider this complaint closed.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:This is exactly the response I expected from this rude company that thrives on scamming people... they respond by making an inaccurate claim that I spoke to a "random employee." I actually spoke to the General Manager of the club, *****************************. In addition to speaking to **************, I received an extremely apologetic phone call this morning from the club's OWNER, *********************. ************** is recovering from surgery in ******** Both the ** and the owner of the club are adamantly against Benchmark and want nothing to do with them.
Thanks for coming after me personally as a business owner. Clearly you've got more experience than I do. I hope that you utilize that expert knowledge and come to terms with the fact that you're conducting crappy business and blaming those of us you're trying to scam.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,

Clarification of a proposed resolution:
1. Bench Craft will stop contacting me.
2. Bench Craft will apologize for their continued rudeness, both on the phone and in their response to my complaint with the BBB. Attacking me personally is so far from good business practice. Even regarding continuing to make sales calls, their response was to blame me, suggest that I should know calls are a part of doing business rather than just apologize. Note that if they had apologized from day one, none of this would be happening. Instead, they double down on their aggressiveness.
3. Bench Craft will prove they actually have a contract with ************************ signed by someone other than "a random employee working in the shop." If they don't have this contract, as they claim, they need to stop calling all local businesses pretending to represent our local club and the BBB should take note of their fabrication. If they do have a contract, then I'll drop this 3rd part of the resolution.

Thank you for following up with the complaint I filed against Bench Craft. I just want to be sure that the complaint I filed (and Bench Craft's inaccurate response) will be made public. Can you confirm this? I want to make sure consumers, like me, have the opportunity to make up their own mind about Bench Craft.
Furthermore, I have to say I'm unimpressed with the BBB's lack of concern about this issue. Anyone can read the tone of their response and recognize the aggressiveness and predatory tone they take towards their customers and potential customers. If ********************************************* continues to call and harass me, what do I do then?
Thank you,
*********************

On November 14th, 2023 I was contacted by Bench Craft company to see if I would be interested in purchasing ad space from them, to be displayed on a golf course. I asked multiple questions about where the ad would be in the golf course guide book and I agreed and purchased the ad agreement for 1 year starting January 2024 and paid the annual fee of $895 via credit card on the same day. I worked with their design team and approved the ad design on 12/11/23. The ads were set to begin running at the start of the new year. I was told I'd receive a copy of the ads via mail, which I have not received. I stopped at the golf course, grabbed some golf course guide books and my ad is NOT in there. The golf course said the books were the 2024 books. My phone calls and texts to the company are not being answered and my emails are going unanswered. I have asked for a full refund because I paid for an ad that they did not put in the course guide book. I was scammed by them and that they will not respond to my calls, texts or emails. I am a local small business owner and spent my entire 2024 marketing budget for the ad that they did not put in the book. I want a full refund and for them to take accountability for their actions.Customer Answer

On December 7, 2024 I was contacted by Bench Craft company to see if I would be interested in purchasing ad space from them, to be displayed on a golf course. On December 8, 2024 I agreed and purchased the ad agreement for 2 ad packages for 2 separate golf courses. They were very responsive and provided me with a receipt for my purchase ($395 each per ad package, for a total of $790). We then went back and forth and approved the ad design. The design was approved 12/22. The ads were set to begin running at the start of the new year.I have since reached out to multiple different contacts at the company asking for verification that my ads are running. I was told I'd receive a copy of the ads via mail, which I have not received. My phone calls are not being answered, many of my emails are bouncing back (even though I worked with those people in December) and my other emails are going unanswered. After a few weeks of not being able to make contact with the company, I did a ****** search to see if I got scammed by them. There are many responses all over the interest indicating I was scammed by them and that they will not respond to my calls or emails. I am extremely frustrated, as this was my entire advertising budget for the year (I am an independent Medicare agent and have a small budget). I am hoping to get my money back.Initial Complaint

I was contacted by ***************************, he explained to me that I can have my business advertised on the score cards of a local golf course. I decided to give it a try so I signed up back in July 2023, I had an art proof sent to me and I confirmed the art proof. Several months went by and I finally went to go look at the scorecards. They incorrectly printed my advertisement leaving out a crucial piece of information, my phone number. I emailed ****** as soon as I found out and didnt hear anything. Then he called me trying to sell me on another golf course(not knowing it was me, a very unknowledgable move on their part) I explained my issue and told him we need to figure out a resolution. He stopped taking my calls and someone always claims hes not in office but this is now 5 times Ive called and hes been out. Finally a co worker of his gave me an 800 number to call. I called and they told me I need to deal with ***********(who is ignoring me). They have screwed over multiple other business that are local to me. Some of these local companies have been charged 4x the amount they agreed on. Very unprofessional and I would recommend to anyone debating on using their services to run for the hills. These guys are lousy, unprofessional and all they care about it closing another deal. Im tired of this run around. Why should I have to pay for an advertisement that doesnt even give my potential customers a way to contact me?Business Response

Turns out when the golf course calls me back after i already paid for the package this is not legit. I am being scammed by this company and they are no longer repsonsive to me. I want a full refund asap. I contacted the representative of Bench ****, *********************, and requested the refund. In June of 2023 we authorized 3 payments for advertisement via email With the Bench Craft Company for a full year of advertisement at 5 different golf courses. We have the invoices and receipts for the transactions made on (6/27/23, 6/27/23, 6/28/23 ) the 3 payments totaling $2,175 which was agreed upon for the year. We were told all of the guides and tee sign had already been sent out & the last of those were sent out in October. We have been contacted several times starting in November via phone call from the company by several different people saying that the course guides were printed and that they needed to run the card on file before shipping. On each of these calls they were told that our fees for the year had already been paid for and shipped out. We stated on each of these calls that we would not be authorizing any more payments and our card did not need to be kept on file. We received another call Tuesday with the same story needing to run the card on file for another $990. We went to our bank and found they ran our card twice on 11/13/23 for $790 & 11/30/23 for $990. Immediately we called the main office and they were extremely rude and unhelpful. Finally after a day of going back and forth they finally issued a refund. It was pending 24 hours and then they canceled the refund. We are only asking for a refund for the 2 charges totaling $1,780 in November that authorization or informed consent was not given for.We never received invoices or receipts for the withdrawals made with out consent. Now reading other comments their other customers posted on the BBB we see this is a recurring thing for the Bench Craft Company. We will continue to contact the Bench Craft Company until this has been made right.Business Response

I was contacted by D. Forest from this company regarding doing advertising in a local golf course guide here in **********, **********. Our advertisement was supposed to be in the local course guide where a business essentially sponsors a hole. We submitted payment and artwork and waited. I had no communication from them after November of 2023. Realizing that it was already February 2024, and the course guide was supposed to go out at the beginning of the year, I called to get verification from Bench Craft Company regarding status. The first number I called could not find my information in their records. I called another number (corporate) and was told coincidently the course guide was mailed "that day". I called my local golf course and they verified that they are in fact not doing any business (advertising or otherwise) with this company. This company was not authorized to use the local golf course's name, or to represent themselves as being authorized to sell advertising for the golf course. The "advertising" is bogus and fraudulent. I have started a fraud case with *****************Business Response

I purchased advertising at the *************************************************** in ********, ***** thru Bench Craft on October 18, 2023. I paid $395 for 12 months of advertising. To date, the advertising signs are still not posted at the location. I have made several phone calls to Bench Craft to ascertain when the signs will be installed. They tell me the signs had been shipped on December 4, 2023, and the golf course does have the signs. They have told me on multiple occasions that they are trying to remedy the situation and they will call me back but they have never called me back. At this point, I feel the signs will never be installed and I would like a full refund for the service I paid for but have not received.Business Response
