  I signed up with JG Wentworth to get assistance with my debt. I take accountability for not reading everything thoroughly but they definitely did not help me and more than that they had a negative financial impact on me. First issue was once I paid attention to what was happening I noticed that out of the three enrolled creditors they only contacted one in the five months I was using their services. The next issue was I noticed was out of the $465 I paid each month, only $50 went to the one creditor they contacted and the rest went to them for fees. I guess I didn’t realize they take their fee for negotiating up front and then pay the creditor once they’ve collected. So I decided to cancel their service. The contract stated the escrow account balance would be immediately refunded and I’d receive any documentation regarding my credit accounts that was sent on my behalf. This did not happen. They delayed my cancellation so they could first take the balance out of my escrow account and I never received any paperwork. I live in California and in order to dispute this they have an arbitration clause in the contract that requires me to do this in another state. When I asked a manager about the escrow account and what the contract says, I was told it isn’t a contract only an agreement and they’re entitled to their fees and were going to take them and then they’d cancel my account. They took over $400 from me after I cancelled, though the contract said it would be immediately refunded. The also notified my one creditor that I cancelled though I intended to keep paying so the over $2000 in fees I paid to them to help me get out of debt was for nothing and ultimately set me back even further. I did not have any control over the escrow account as I was told I would initially. I just feel that they didn’t follow the contract.

  I don’t recall how I managed to do business with this very well known company, but I Highly Recommend J.G. Wentworth for any of your financial services. They didn’t waste any time helping me with my experiencing financial hardship.
  
  I was in the process of filing chapter 7 and after paying a different organization $1,000.00 and experiencing a lot of frustration and stress gave up on them (should have read the reviews on them before hand). Thanks to J.G. Wentworth, my nightmare turned out to be a blessing.
