I think Cigna is the worst insurance company to deal with. The customer service or lack there of is astounding. If you have medical needs beyond the normal check up be ready to wait for an instant denial and a lengthy appeal. I called to get an estimate on where my appeal was in the system. I have been waiting on the phone for over an hour. I am on their online chat and still waiting. When asked to speak to a manager there is not one available. This has happened on every call I have made to them. For a huge insurance company this is simply unacceptable. I feel like this company puts profits over patients by delaying crucial health care that is vital to the patients well being.

Garbage company. Received a letter stating that my procedure would be fully covered by insurance so long as no changes were made by providers. No changes were made by providers. A week after the procedure, I'm being billed for the full amount. As a fun bonus, I just got a bill for my son's surgery two years ago because they "adjusted" coverage. Two years to play with their bills and I get two weeks to cough up $4k. How do you garbage people sleep at night.

My experience with Cigna lies somewhere between TRAIN WRECK and GREEK TRAGEDY.
My Doctor made the mistake of prescribing me mediation which required a Prior Authorization. Cigna received this on June 3 as URGENT – per Cigna Customer Service, an urgent request is processed within 3 Business Days.

I am on day 15 and still cannot get this medication. Cigna has advised that it is pending medical review. Gee, I thought my DOCTOR was the medical review required for the medication. My bad. Cigna has consistently sent me back and forth between my provider and their office NO LESS THAN a dozen times. I have a follow-up appointment with my physician, under the presupposition that I have been able to take this medication and can report back to her regarding the results, positive or negative. But I can’t take the medication because Cigna cannot (a.) adequately staff their prior authorization Team, or (b.) has through poor management lost my prior authorization, or (c.) doesn’t giving a flying flip about their customers. I need this medication. I cannot get it. Cigna has dug their heals in and refuses to assist. And what’s more, the Prior Authorization Team? Customers are not allowed to talk to them. Only Doctors or Pharmacies.

Cigna is terrible. Your business model is broken. Your Customer Service is laughable. I am seriously considering cancelling my insurance at my annual renewal and going with Obamacare. Ridiculous. You take my money paycheck after paycheck and yet… you don’t serve the customer.

CIGNA is a prime example of what is wrong with medicine in this country. Big corporation who doesn’t offer one iota of care to the people they are charged to serve. I hope your company collapses before you can harm other people with your lack of care.

If you have it in your power to get insurance elsewhere, run screaming. This company is a JOKE.

Their site and app never work! Everytime I try to look at a claim or check my file the site is always down or it never EVER loads up right. I’ve had Cigna for over a year with my company and not once has it worked. If my company had any other insurance company I would leave Cigna in a heartbeat.

      Cigna is a nightmare company.

I'm an expat living in Greece for several years. I found this company about three years ago, I liked that they gave expat insurance coverage for the whole world (except USA). That said, they are far from the cheapest.

I paid them more than 350 euros a month, and I did not have a single insurance claim in three years. I ended up paying them about 10,000 euros over those three years.

A month ago, my child needed minor surgery, and I wrote to the insurance beforehand. The surgery was not expensive - the preliminary amount was only 1600 euros - with my deductible of 550 euros, it would have cost the insurance only 1100 euros. I wrote to the insurance company, and they quickly replied that they would reimburse the amount and I only needed receipts from the doctors and the hospital. I paid for the surgery, collected the documents, and sent them to the insurance company. I was immediately told that the documents had been forwarded for payment.

THAT WAS IT. It's been 3 weeks, I've written 3 letters to Cigna already, and none of them have responded. I wrote to them in a chat on Facebook - after a day I got a reply that they forwarded the letter to their support service. Still no response from there. The company just ignores all the new emails that I send them - although BEFORE the insured event they answered literally within a couple of hours.

I don't know if it's a scam or just total disrespect for the customer, but this is the most stupidly wasted €10,000 of my life. I'm only glad I found out about it on a relatively small amount of damage.

Do not use the services of this company under any circumstances.

This Company and its Affiliates lack Business Knowledge, Unprofessional Unskilled Personnel, Financial Accounting and Customer Service knowledge. Please use a Accredited Company with the Experience in their Services and Products they are Marketing and selling to there Customers. Cigna and Express Scripts have No Knowledge or Training in the Product and Services that they are offering to thete Customers. I beg you not to select Cigna or Express Scripts for any reason. There Goal is The Monetary Dollar and not there Customers. If I could give them No Stars, I Would.

I have Cigna PPO dental insurance, for which I pay $45 a month. Recently I went to my dentist for a simple, routine, ordinary cleaning and exam. It took less than 15 minutes. The dentist is in Cigna's network. Cleaning and exams are, according to Cigna's TOS, supposed to be covered 100% for a visit every 6 months. Instead, Cigna denied HALF the claim. They paid 50% of the exam fee and 50% of the cleaning fee. This doesn't even make sense. I have filed a grievance but expect they will try to weasel out of paying the other half. I will be changing insurance companies as soon as possible. There's a reason why BBB has a disclaimer about only publishing a small portion of the complaints against them...there are so many complaints that it would probably take up all the BBB's bandwidth to cover them all. AVOID THIS COMPANY.

They have the worse customer service . All their claims associate need training. I have been dealing with a dental claim for 6 months . Everytime I call they need additional information .. This is after they assured me that it would be processed in 5 days and they had all information they needed . I had to pay for my procedure myself so It would be nice to get some money back . I really think they are trained to give you the run around do you just give up and they don't have to pay. My advice be prepared to pay out of pocket because this company will rip you off.

Because eviCore denied a CT scan until I started coughing up blood I now have permanently damaged lungs. Why did I have to suffer for months and cough up blood before you'd approve it?
Now I'm fighting for an MRI of my neck. Prior surgery on my neck as well. The pain in my hands are really bad and I know from previous experience that permanent damage is being done. That means it can't be undone even after surgery! I followed all your requirements but now you want an x-ray proving something is wrong. I also know from previous experience that you can have a normal x-ray and have an MRI show 2 massive herniated discs but it still didn't show the CSF leak I had. After I had my first neck MRI I was told not to drive or even get into a car because a simple fender bender would take my life. I'm experiencing the same issues again but this time with eviCore making the decisions I can't get the test I need. Shame on You!
