Cigna is the worst. The "customer service managers"... the absolute worst. I have never in my life experienced run around and inability to help in my entire life. My employer, my provider, advanta, and myself have all been trying to get them to respond to claims and look into an issue on their end. Run around for over a YEAR. Wasted time money and gas... told me progress was made to find out months later progress not made. They literally waited until the "claim period" expired to tell me there is absolutely nothing they can do. They are scam artists. Do not use Cigna/Advanta! Had BCBS for 15 years not one issue... had cigna for one year... left me in over 1500 in debt and the run around for over a year. I have the paper trail, the notes, the claims, the fax receipts, the contact numbers, my ID #s, the documents time stamped, everything. They still can't do anything for me. Yet... just two weeks ago had me waste 25 bucks to refax the information and said nothing about this expiration. In fact, I asked about the expiration in November and was told bc they had it noted way before and there was documented cases of this same issue during the same time I had it, I would be ok. Tried to call last week of December again and said on vacation and to call after the first of the year. Clearly knowing this would be the case and lying to get me to the new year. Worst company and employees/ customer service representatives specifically, ever. This is not where you want to insure yourself through if you actually want coverage and assistance. Worst business I've ever come across in my life. If I could give them a negative rating it wouldn't be enough. I'm so disgusted I don't know how anyone sleeps at night in that office but l nor do I know how they are still in business. Customer Service should be called We Hate Our Customers &Provide Awful Service Department. They also seem to hate their job. Reading the other reviews same issue- the "code/ID" is inaccurate. Frauds.

My front top tooth broke completely. This was very unexpected. Cigna refused to pay for the core build up so a crown could be attached! Instead of paying 50% on restorative, they paid $274 and I paid $692! My dentist’s office had never heard of an insurance company that doesn’t pay for a core build up when a crown is made!

One star is too much. I have accidental insurance with this company through my employer. I have filed two claims and both times I have had to file an Official Complaint with my local Department of Insurance. I have been waiting on my claim to get approved for two months. This company is a NIGHTMARE!

Cigna (my husband's employer choice of offered health insurance coverage) is selective to which customer services they choose to pay! I have been going to the same doctor for years...Now that I'm 65, Cigna is using multiple excuses to refuse to pay for my doctor visits! I'm on Medicare, so I tried to avoid dealing with Cigna altogether, but I was told I can't use Medicare or supplimental coverage, until their fiscal year expires! I tried to get in contact with billing Re: Dr. is being refused payment. They use different excuses to pay! I have never had a good experience with this "provider" the claims ... they have a very BAD habit of putting you on hold (more like ignore) & they will leave without completing the issues!

Our company switched to Cinga last year after being with a very good provider for a number of years. Part of the reason for the switch was based on promises from Cinga that they would be able to meet the level of service that we had with our previous provider (not the case). Ever since the switch it has been an absolute nightmare to work with them.
Our situation was a bit more challenging and we had to get a special agreement in placed to use our previous 'out-of-network' doctor as in-network. However, every claim that was filed has been processed as out-of-network despite the agreement. In the numerous emails to Cigna through their antiquated 'secure' email portal, they informed us that our doctor was using the incorrect billing codes that were not included on the agreement. After months of this response/excuse, I've come to find out the billing codes listed in the agreement are considered 'master codes' that cover a multitude of other codes. Not only this, but also they were not using the correct billing rates for my region so that they didn't have to pay as much.
So basically what it comes down to is that the claims processor at Cigna is incompetent and I was required to do their job for them. At least I hope that incompetency is the case and these issues were not intentional to save Cigna money. Luckily my company is leaving Cigna as there has been a multitude of other employees having problems with them.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Customer service is HORRIBLE!! 2 hour wait time!? No option for a call back!? Who wants to wait on the phone for 2 hours?? I am a Type 1 Diabetic with some real questions and concerns that are life and death and I need answers!! THEY GAVE ME THE WRONG INFORMATION THE FIRST TIME AND NOW I HAVE TO WAIT TO TRY TO GET THE CORRECT ANSWER?? I HATE THIS COMPANY!!!

Cigna is HORRIBLE!!! My company ahs them and I have had to call them 5 times for assistance and questions on my account, each time I was on hold numerous times and had to wait over 2 hours. They are horrible, they will take your money out of your HSA/FSA -- and deny claims and you can never reach anyone to get anything resolved, they transfer you around -- horrible, I have lost so much money due to this company. ABSOLUTELY do not go with CIGNA.... it will be the worst decision you will ever make.

Cigna is the most "Customer Hostile Claims Department" that i've ever dealt with.
In September of 2022 sent in an "out of network" claim which I payed out of pocket and then sent to Cigna for reimbursement. The claims department did not pay for the office visit and rejected it . It took 13 calls of approximately an hour each over 6 month to deduce that the office visit code was missing an addendum to the code. The Cigna supervisors kept reprocessing the claim on my behalf. They the Claims Department never indicated what we missing and what I had to do to amend the invoice. It took a "shot in the dark" action my end to have my Drs. office re- send a new claim. Thus 13hours later and $1,300 dollars (@the rate of only $10.00 per hour for their operators to follow this through did we arrive a frustrated and infuriating conclusion. Thus Cigna is a Hostile Company for not getting a handle on this. Every Cigna survey that asks to rate the service does not want to hear where the problems to their customer base really lies. One presumes that the management already knows this and would rather goad their customers to walk away and leave money on the table.

I originally reported an issue almost a month ago. My critical illness policy was canceled citing nonpayment although I submitted payment before the due date. This is an issue that I experience almost every time although my bank sends the payment through Bill Pay and confirms the check was cashed. My first call regarding this was February 13th (the check number and clearance date was provided during this call) and my most recent call was on March 7th with several calls in between. Additionally, I sent two follow-up emails

I have called multiple times to have this resolved and each time was advised that a researcher or manager would call me back. My last call was 47 minutes and no manager would take the call. This issue is still unresolved.

What a joke! I have been dealing with claims from August, after many phone calls and an appeal process NOTHING has been resolved except a collection notice from the provider. I have called more than 5 times since my Appeal approved letter on Nov 8th, to be told everything was being done, hours reading over notes, supposedly resubmitting claims, all to find out the person before did NOTHING. Today, is the 10th day from my last call that the claims were resubmitted and guess what?? I was told that the claim decision was upheld on 12/1. I was never told of this decision in my 5+ calls and do not show anywhere a change in the claim processed date. If a claim has been reversed and resubmitted, wouldn't there be a new claim? I was sent to collections in January. This whole collection process could have been avoided if I was told during ANY of my calls to Cigna, that this was decided on 12/1. I would have paid the bills, but I was under the impression, given to me by multiple people at cigna, that everything was still in the process of being resubmitted. Such a WASTE OF MY TIME, dealing with this company! I will be filing a complaint with the Department of Insurance!
