I know Cigna doesn't cover much, and my doctor ordered an ultrasound. I specifically called Cigna to ask them how much will I owe (as that determines whether i would get the ultrasound or not). They left me with the impression that it would be covered in full as it was ordered through a specialty office (HEENT) and i would only be responsible for the copay.
So i got the ultrasound, and I'm obviously surprised when get hit with a $301 bill. I asked Cigna to review my phone call (where they told me it would be covered), and they said the information they gave me was accurate and they will not cover the bill. I then asked for a recording of the phone call I had (where i was told it would be covered in full) and they said I would have to hire a lawyer and subpoena them in order to get a hold of the phone call.
Obviously i cant afford a lawyer and the hassle is not worth $300 at this point. But I feel like they did not give me a clear transparency of the price I would be responsible for. Very disapointed.
On a separate note, they also made me a pay a $40 copay for an annual physical which I believe is in violation the Affordable Care Act.

The WORST insurance I’ve had. I have my child on my insurance. She had to see an orthopedic doctor (pretty normal doctor) and they didn’t have one doctor on their list that would treat anyone under age of 15 years old. Their app and website are not accurate with in network information. I have to call every time and if you have a child. Good luck most of their lists don’t have pediatric doctors. I call and have to constantly explain not all doctors see children. If you are going to allow children on your plan. Then have pediatric doctors in network!!

I needed to change my address. This cannot be done online. It took over an hour and transfers to 6 different people to get my address changed. This should be able to be done online.

Cigna, has this crappy discrimination policy against smokers. i don't smoke, never Smoked. They had me listed as a Smoker and charged me a smoking surcharge. This went on for years, I called Cigna several times and called my HR dept several times. They refused to correct this. Cigna id U67714960, group 3339218. I have also written Cigna more that once. They owe me money!!!!

Cigna just loves to deny anything and everything. They are in the business to make money, not help people. What is the purpose of me paying $500 a month in healthcare premiums just to get denied for a medically needed procedure that my wife needs. This company is living proof that universal healthcare is needed in the US and health insurance scam companies like Cigna need to disappear forever.

It is almost impossible to navigate the labyrinth of trying to find competent care in the Cigna network. Also Cigna pays providers very slowly, so you may have many unresolved claims that you will then have to call Cigna billing to inquire about multiple times. Cigna offers very little support in trying to find a doctor who is truly accepting new patients within the next 30 days. You have to call 5 to 10 providers on your own to make one successful appointment in which you may have to wait up to 2 hours after your appointment time to see the doctor.

CIGNA seems to deny everything(pharmacy, surgery, etc). Ask for an appeal or peer to peer so they can act like they are trying to help only to deny again. Wife is without medicine. May change jobs just to get better insurance.

It is a shame that my dentist stopped taking Cigna insurance due to lack of payment from Cigna insurance. I truly trgret switching jobs, and changing from Highmark Blue Cross/ Blie Shield, because i had to switch insurances to Cigna. I pay just as much, if not more for my health, dental, and eye insurance through Cigna, but due to their lack of payments and outright denial of claims, my dentist will no longer participate with Cigna insurance. I definitely pay way higher outbof pocket prices than i ever did with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Insurance is a huge scam, and we Americans would be better iff pocketing the monthly payments, and saving for when we get sick. Scam, scam, scam!
