Credit Management Company contacted me in February to collect a debt. I received their first correspondence on 2/23/2023 and sent back my letter the following day 2/24/2023. Upon no response, I called Credit Management Company on 4/5/2023 and spoke to an agent. They had been calling a number that was not mind and had never been mine (*************. They also had sent the letter to my parents address, which was forwarded to me. Up until receipt of this letter, I had no awareness of any owed funds to UPMC. Credit Management Company, informed me on a follow up call (4/7/2023), that my "debt" will be put on my credit score 60 days after 2/1/2023. I asked why it took 23 days to reach me (most likely because they sent it to a wrong address) and they would not answer. They would not grant any extensions and only gave me 38 days to pay a balance (claiming a full 60 days). The agent tried to claim that it is '60 days from when they receive the debt and not when they inform me'. Their actions directly harm my credit score. I asked for extension, to which the agent (Kathy) became rude and accusatory. I called back to speak with a supervisor, none were there (Kathy answered again). I plan to pay this debt, but I was not aware of it at all until 2/23/2023 around 8PM. I responded immediately, mailing back my response on 2/24/2023. The response was never received, but I also called in and relayed the issues around the validity of the debt.
My issue: This company may harm my credit directly through reckless and negligent practices (contacting bad numbers/addresses and placing the blame on the debtors for any time constraints caused by their employees.) If there is harm to my credit, I will hold this company fully liable for all damages, interest, and legal fees. I would like to speak to a supervisor to get a proper and reasonable time period where I can pay. 38 days is not enough notice to both make me aware of a debt and also collect. I also do not appreciate the disrespect.Business Response

I believe that Credit Management Company's (CMC) omission of a proper response demonstrates the problematic nature of their claim. CMC cannot and will not provide evidence to support their claim, nor will they engage in any meaningful dialogue around the validity of the claim. CMC utilizes tactics around duress & extortion; making fraudulent claims and demanding that consumer pay within 38 days of receiving the unfounded claim. CMC also had been calling a faulty phone number and address; neither of which has ever belonged to me (not meeting collections guidelines). No legitimate collections company or agency would engage in such practices.CMC has been made aware multiple times (in at least three different methods) about the issues around their claim and concerns around their conduct. So far, not attempt has been made to negotiate, apologize, or discuss the dispute.

I was contacted by phone on Thursday March 23, 2023 from one of the reps from this business. I was told I owed money. I tried repeatedly to say this bill was old from 2010 and was under dispute from a previous debt collector " TransWorld Systems Inc. / 33, 500 Virginia DR., FT. Washington, PA 19034, 1877-865-7686, and they never provided me proof of the charges to pay or for me to dispute. The rep was rude to me and threatened to serve me with papers and take me to court if I did not pay the money. I want this removed from my credit report because I do not believe I owe this money since the business claim the bill is from 2010.Business Response

On 2/20/23 I was notified of a change to my credit report. This company has placed a collections account on my report without due process. I have never received a notice or letter from them so I do not know an account number. This is in violation of both the FDCPA and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. I do not owe them or anyone else anything. I have read their standard responses to other complaints and will not call them or provide them with any information. What I will do, if they do not immediately remove this from my report, is sue them for violations of the federal laws mentioned above. I will not tolerate their abusive and illegal behavior. The company should be aware that I fully plan to pursue legal action against them if their fraudulent derogatory mark is not removed from my credit report. I fully understand my rights and know that I am under no obligation to contact them or provide them with any personal information.
