This is one of those stories that tells you the ending first. Never use Anthony Sylvan Pools for anything. At the end of the 2022 pool season I contracted with Anthony Sylvan to re-plaster my pool. First off they sent a crew out that could not speak a word of English so we could not communicate with them at all. The crew went about their business and everything seemed okay until we put water in the pool. Then we noticed off color spots in the plaster. I contacted my project manager who put me in touch with Carl N*** who is allegedly their warranty person. Well, Carl is a very busy man (red flag everyone!) so he could not come out to look until the pool was closed. Carl pulled back the cover, put in some chemicals, put the cover back on and left. Later that day he sent me an email that said we could deal with the problem when I opened the pool in the spring. Okay now spring rolls around and the pool is open so I emailed Carl. For weeks without any answer what so ever. I figured I would email The head of Anthony Sylvan renovation division Jason W***. Jason told me the fastest way to get help was to put in a warranty claim. I did. After a short time Bethany Hopkins contacted me. She was sorry to hear about the problem and would schedule someone to come out and look at the pool. In the mean time could I send pictures. I did on June 1st. Since then Bethany has promised, on many emails, she would get someone out to look at my pool. No one has come yet. The person she said would come out is none other than Carl N***. Now Bethany isn't even responding to my emails. While all this emailing is going on I have had other people out to look at the problem and tried things myself. I thought maybe it was organic. So I scrubbed and scrubbed the spots. I raised the chlorine levels to what I was told would kill any organics. I have put in a bunch of algaecide. None of that changed the appearance at all. Other contractors have said the plaster has to be redone.

This is not a professional group. They do not honor contracts and they hire unskilled/untrained workers. Company has no issues when it comes to getting paid, in fact they are very effective at grabbing the fee. However, when it comes to providing any form of service they are a "disaster". In 2019 we contracted this company to provide open/close pool services, and it has been a disaster.. On 4/27/2023, we finally cancelled a contract because of continual failure to perform contracted work (i.e. opening a pool). We initially hired Sylvan because they built the pool and determined to employ them for consistency. But since 2019, it has been one issue after another. During our most recent experience, the "service team" did not (1) fold and place pool cover in its container - my son and I ended up doing that -; (2) Perform a system check on the heater/ac unit - technician did not know how; and (3) left the vacuum pump on without connecting the pool vacuum - pump was running well below 20psi ; and (4) Broke the plastic connection to the pool for the vacuum - the technician used a large metal wrench to separate the parts?- These issues add to long list of prior mishaps. With that, I would suggest not hiring this company because they will cost you more money in repairs, wasted time and replacement. Better off seeking another company, it may or may not work out, however its better than paying approximately $600 for incomplete and damaging work to this company.

Since we have to pick a rating to leave a review, I was forced to pick a one. Otherwise it would have been a zero.

Anthony Sylvan builds a beautiful pool, I will say that but BEWARE! Once they have all your money, which by the way has to be paid in full before the pool has the last stage complete, then your troubles begin if you have any issues. Our pool was opened Labor Day 2022, since that time we have had to spend countless hours to try and get any issues resolved. Our Polaris never worked right to begin with, an issue we are still dealing with since Anthony Sylvan opened our pool April 10th. No one has yet to come out or try to work with us on this issue this year. Oh they have called, but wanted us to try and take the Polaris somewhere or wait until mid-May for someone to come out. What kind of customer service is this?

In addition, we waited almost 3 months to get a cover, which we had to initiate by calling and emailing daily, then finally emailing the president of the company and tweeting in order for anything to be taken care of. As a result, we now have stains in our pool, which we were told, we wouldn’t have.

We also had a gauge broken when the pool was opened this year which the pool openers said they would take care of but they didn’t. So in addition to not having our pool being able to get cleaned probably, we are now dealing with a broken gauge. Which by the way, we immediately reached out to address. Do you think anyone has come out to take care of it? That would be No.

This is our second pool with Anthony Sylvan. Fortunately we didn’t have issues with the first one or we would NEVER have used them again if this is the way they treat their repeat customers who happen to have issues with their pool to no fault of our own. Again, how can you run a company this way.

I had my pool resurfaced by Anthony-Sylvan in spring 2013. The original request to clean my pool just after Super Storm Sandy flooded my property (Oct 2012) was deamed not of immediate concern and put off until April 2013. It turned out that after inspection, the chemicals in the standing water stained the pool surface so much that the acid cleaning process could not remove the stains. Anthony personnel then stated that the pool had to be resurfaced and described said as chipping the old surface away from below tiles and around inlets and drains and then applying a one-half inch new plaster surface. The pool looked great. However, eight years after the resurfacing (summer 2022), the plaster began to bubble and chip - showing a 1/8-inch plaster surface not the 1/2-inch plaster surface stated as part of the resurfacing project.
Anthony Sylvan personnel stated that the claim for workmanship was out of warranty. I explained that I was not making a workmanship warranty claim but a claim for failure on Anthony Sylvan's part to provide the product that was quoted and paid for. A complete run around by Anthony Sylvan personnel asking the same questions over and over again and my providing said over and over again. The substandard lesser amount of plaster applied to the pool amounts to theft by deception.

Avoid at all costs! Though I will echo the other reviews that Jeremy Siebert is FANTASTIC, but Brandon Diaz and Dom Clemente have gone out of their way to ensure our experience is miserable. They are slow, unresponsive, unengaged, and the quality of their work leaves a lot to be desired. Prepare to be your own PM!

We selected Anthony Sylvan's bid to build our pool as they were new to market and could start sooner. We were quoted a December 2022 finish being likely, but to plan for February 2023 just in case of weather delays. Fair enough! As of the final week in April 2023, the completion does not appear to be in sight. Though we are in the final phases, we have been in this phase for 3 months.

Delays happen, but require communication, of which you will not receive from the Anthony Sylvan team. Our PM, Brandon Diaz, avoids us at all costs and only stops by to snap a few photos of the progress and then returns to hiding. Dom Clemente, the GM, is also completely unresponsive. We have attempted contact with him numerous times and have not heard a peep. Worst of all, he is the person who quoted our timeline!

We have had to have work redone on numerous occasions due to sloppy work. Mounds of dirt were dumped into the road during our dig, which violates city ordinance so we were threatened with hefty fines. Our rebar was completely incorrectly and the inspector caught it, causing rework. Our deck tile is in the process of supposedly being corrected due to inefficient foundational support, resulting in cracks already. I guess it is a good thing we paid for an entire additional pallet of deck tile to account for the poor quality. The pool has had to be re-prepped for plaster several times now due to mistakes. We are now being pushed to schedule an inspection, yet the pool is not trending toward completion and we've yet to be provided with the necessary contractual materials or guidance to even pass the inspection.

The WORST company ever! My project has been going on since last year. Headache after headache. Wrong tiles sent, crew walking off job, total incompetence with management. They have 97% of their money though. My pool is a mess and this project has been a nightmare!

It's an incredible slap in the face that after the BBB closed my case as unresolved and said that Anthony & Sylvan had been delisted, they still show up with an A+ rating! What nonsense! A&S has been working on my pool now for almost two and a half years and still aren't done! They have now knocked out the gunite for the second time, looking for the leaks they introduced the last time they knocked out a almost a third of my pool. We're on our sixth project manager and are now getting ready to pay the bank for a fifth extension to the construction loan that we can't convert, all due to A&S's delays. They've cost us tens of thousands in interest and penalties and there's no end it sight. If they ever do finish my pool, it won't be the pool I designed and paid them to build, as they forgot to do things at major stages and can't go back and correct them. Their sub-contractors show up for an hour or two once a month or so, and half the time they get what they are doing wrong and have to come back and redo it. There are simple items that should have been done long ago that they keep telling me they've scheduled to have taken care of and no one ever shows up. Then they tell me it's already done! Of course the whole pool should have been done a year and a half ago, so that's really no surprise. Don't be fooled by all of the positive reviews that they pay a social media specialist (Hi Lesley) to scrub the internet for all the negative ones, or the nonsensical A+ rating from the BBB. This is NOT the company you want building your pool! They'll take your money and go party in Florida like they have for the past two years and leave you high and dry like they have me!

I felt compelled to share my experiences to **** anyone away from considering this company for a pool installation and or renovation. I selected AS for my pool renovation given they were the original installers of my pool. It was a complete nightmare from start to finish. They started in November only to leave my renovation a few days later. When I asked where the workers went, I was told they wwent to ***** for the Winter! My backyard was a total mud pit! I couldn't let my dog out in the backyard as he would track in mud every time and kids couldn't play either. I then had to track the team down to ensure I was first in line for the spring. Pool plaster is FULL of "Crazing", issues with them not completing the job in terms of charging $900 for a service to glue the cap/bullnose and never did, not installing the pressure gages, lost the skimmer covers, and now a new pool looks like it's several years old with discoloration. They make you pay BEFORE they start each phase of the project so you have no ability to hold money back. RUN from this company as I am opening a law suit shortly to have another company replaster my pool

We explained to our Salesperson exactly what we wanted for our first dream come true in-ground pool. Being that this was our first pool, we thought that the process would be exciting and ********** and not frustrating and aggravating. We had many setbacks and problems during construction throughout the process. For the company to be the most reputable company of 75 years, it failed our expectations of their integrity. However, the pool school was exceptional! It appears to me that the only caring person are their instructors. ******************************* appears to keep the company afloat! My 5 stars goes to him and the school ONLY! Thanks for your, exceptional knowledge, compassion and help for us learners. I never meet someone who's so kind and dedicated.

This is our first in-ground swimming pool. Our pool school guy ******************************* was AND IS fantastic. He continues to answer and has returned every telephone call pleasing us in a timely manner. We never have to wait the next day for a response. Learning pools can be intimidating; however, ***** teaches in a way that helps to relieve any stress of learning our pool. We can tell that he loves his job teaching not just us; but other customers about their pool and is OUTSTANDING about his pool teaching delivery. He has never been late to any assignment for us and is always courteous, respectful and dependable. We have been extremely satisfied with his outstanding service. He has a professional attitude that gives us assurance about his pool schooling and us learning our pool. He highly assist us in taking care of our very first in-ground pool. We never thought that having a pool built was going to be frustrating and we looked forward to enjoying the process from beginning to end of our dream come true pool. However, we suffered a great deal from beginning to the end of our contract with the company. But truly the pool schooling has been exceptional. We are not giving credit or integrity to the company (only *****). Having ***** as our pool guy was the only part of this entire experience that made us feel like someone actually cared. This review is for him he deserves the flag, five stars is not enough for the energy that he puts in his pool schooling. Now that the pool is finally complete and filled with water, the end result of our in-ground pool is fabulous. We can now say that the pool is our dream come true pool; however, we live with the frustrations that occurred throughout the process.
