1 starThey immediately locked my account as soon as I opened it. The department that you have to speak to on the phone in order to unlock the account is only open until 5 on weekdays. I work Monday through Friday untill 6:30 pm. I have tried to call on lunch breaks or before work but their hold times are so long I can never finish talking to the department before I have to go back to work. I know it's not malicious but they are set up so that people who work can never get through to that one specific department so it feels like they're essentially holding my money hostage.Review fromAlysia C

1 star****** in the fraud **** just hung up on me because I didn't have service with my cell and couldn't receive the verification code she was trying to text me. I was extremely pleasant the whole time. Maybe I'll have to switch banks after 20+ years!!!Review fromKenneth M

1 starI was in the process of applying for a mortgage, and everything was as if I was just being processed in a machine. Once I decided to go with another lender, my loan officer flipped as if I had leprosy, even hanging up on me on the phone. I had paid for the appraisal, and asked for a refund, and was ignored. Later, they sent me the appraisal, which meant a refund was no longer an option. When I asked them to help with transfering the appraisal, they ignored both my, and my realtor's attempts to call and email them. My loan officer was ******************* NMLS ID# ***** . I even tried to call his manager, *****, and was ignored. Find a better option!Review fromAdam L

1 starI have been a Citizens Bank customer for more than 20 years. I had made multiple reports of completed fraudulent activity/withdrawals made from my personal account over the past year. This past August more than $10,000 was stolen and a report/claim was completed. As of today (5/31/23), I have yet to be reimbursed the funds and continue to be left in what seems to be a never-ending holding pattern with little to zero contact from the fraud department/Office of the Chairman. A report was also completed with the ************ ************ who have notified me that they have also been met with nothing but resistance throughout their investigation into this felony act. My only goal is to be made financially whole by the bank that should be there to help me in this time of distress and obvious burden that this has not been left just on me individually, but to my family as a whole. This August (2023) will be one year since the fraud was completed and subsequently reported to Citizens Bank.Review fromKelly H

2 starsFraud was reported on my card, they froze my debit card and then had me call fraud to replace. I was on hold over 1 hour!! I ended up hanging up to go to a meeting. I called Saturday morning at 7am thinking hold times must go down. 35 minutes and I FINALLY get to a rep. ** get started, I was explaining why I was calling and SHE HANGS UP ON ME!! I wanted to scream! I call back and get "due to unforeseen circumstances we cannot take you call at this time", are you joking??? Over hour long wait times and that's okay with them? I support a call center at a fortune 5 company, if we acted like that we wouldn't BE a fortune 5 company! And their hours of operations are a joke. Open 3 HOURS on a Saturday. 3 hours? Why bother? 9-4pm during the week. So the elderly can go into the bank but those of ** who work all day with no breaks that isn't terrible convenient. How are they still in business? 1 week so far with no debit card to my account. Can't do it online with their new tool because they froze it due to fraud. Now my credit cards getting maxed, bill pay not working, I didn't cause fraud but I am sure paying for it!!!Review fromJanea G

1 starI have had the worse experience with this bank. When I opened it, they got a lot of praise from my brother, so I decide to give them a try. Worse decision ever. I've only had them for 2 months and I'm sure I will close this account in the next month. Here's the problems, when I set my account up I choose a pin, they sent me a completely different pin so I used that instead. Next day my account is locked and I don't know why. I didn't receive a notification via email, phone or text message letting me know was closed, couldn't use my card for 2 weeks and I had no idea why. I finally called and lo and behold my account is locked. Every time I try to use my card it's declined for some reason or another. Again I try to order some food and my card is declined for fraud, the wait time is 30 or less so I select to be called back. When I receive a call back the wait time is more than 30 minutes after waiting to be called back. I'm literally waiting for the $300 from the promotion so I can close this account and be done. For a company who is making interest off my money you sure don't like to keep customers.Review fromJay G

1 starIve been with Citizens for over 40 years. But Im leaving them, because of their incompetence. No matter when you call customer service, you will be told: wait times are longer than normal." So I can only assume that the term normal means in the past. In illustration of their incompetence:On 5/2/23, I noticed a debit charge on my account, from Amazon, for ********************* which I dont subscribe to. Since I've seen erroneous charges in the past that resolve in a day or so, I made the mistake of calling customer service and asking the representative to investigate the charge, and, to freeze that card, just in case it was more than just a mistake. He said that to investigate, they would have to cancel my card and replace it, which makes no sense. After discussion, I finally gave permission, and he said that a new card would be sent. But it turned out that he had done nothing. No replacement card was ordered and no investigation was initiated. so, he lied.On 5/5, when I called to check on the status of the investigation, I learned that there had been none initiated, and no replacent card sent. I was then told that a replacement card would be sent out on an emergency basis, and would take "2 working days" to arrive. In the past, a new card would appear overnight. But today, working days means weekdays, so, my card, ordered on Friday, might arrive on Tuesday, 5/9.But of course it didnt. When I called to find out why, I was told that it had NOT been sent on an emergency basis, as promised, and so, would arrive in 3 to 5 working days. So, in reality, that probably means Friday. So again, they lied. The latest representative said she would initiate an investigation. You can guess how much confidence I have in that happening. So, after more than 40 years of being a Citizens Bank customer, Ive had enough, and will be taking my banking business elsewhere.***************************Review fromJAMES C

1 starI contacted Citizens Bank on 02/23 I was behind on my car loan due to being on maternity leave, & my paychecks being delayed. I called to make a payment & catch up on my loan. I was going to pay $800, I was advised that I can make 1 month payment, pay the interest & 2 months will be deferred. I agreed, because I wanted to catch up on my payments. I provided my information, and during this conversation discussed the offer I was made and when my next payment would be do. I was told that my payment would resume in March. Now here comes March 1st, I receive a collection letter from Citizen's saying I owed $1531.59, and my payment was due Feb. 28th. I immediately contacted Citizen's because I was confused on how I was behind again, after this agreement , ******************* of $922.73. Why would I pay $922.73 to turn around and make a payment of $520, all in the same month which would total to $1442.73. For all of that I could of made my 3 missed payments which would total to $1560, be caught up and still get a deferment. I spoke with a supervisor ************** for about two weeks, playing phone tag. Than I spoke with the Office of chairman **************, and her supervisor ******************** had them pull the recordings because I knew what I discussed w/their rep. ***** advised me that the next due date was not mentioned and was incorrect. When I spoke w/***** she said that she could not let me hear the tape and that she could not find what ***** was talking about. They would not fix the deferment as I explained my situation of being on Maternity Leave and not going back to work until 04/03.The only option that was given was to remove the deferment and be behind 4 months. ************** and ****************** refuse to return any of my calls. Told me that I need to obtain an attorney. I called to see how much interest was paid on my loan, to be transferred 8 times and not one rep could provide me with that information. Citizen's is a joke, and very unprofessional.
