This bank will not allow me to access my account to retrieve my funds. They are charging me fees without consent. They have made my account dormant.I have not had any customer service willing to assist me. Instead, they suggested that I fly out from *******, where I live, to ************, where they are headquartered, to close my account.

I would give them a 0 if I could. I have been on the phone with them for close to 2 hours- to resolve an overpayment issue for an iPhone that they will not process. The first 2 times I asked to speak to a manager they transferred me to a standard ***** employee instead of a Citizens manager. There are a handful of other issues I could complain about but that one takes the cake, plus Im tired of giving them my time.

If you inadvertently miss your 10-month, 5.5% interest rate CD's maturity date, Citizens Bank will roll it into a 10-month CD at 0.03% interest rate. Citizens Bank will not notify you by mail of the CD's impending maturity date and will not notify you by mail that you have a new CD that basically pays no interest. Then you will have to pay a penalty to close the new certificate early, so you can take your money to another bank. Their "Office of the Customer" will do nothing to help you but send you a letter saying they correctly handled your CD's maturation. I have contacted and spoken with the Consumer Financial ****************** Others have written to them with similar experiences. If you have had the same thing happen to you, please file an online complaint at cfpb to document ************** unscrupulous practice.

If I could give negative stars I would regarding this awful bank. First, the online banking app makes me constantly change the password, even though I know it to be correct. When I attempt to change the password and enter my banking information, somehow my information doesn't come up? This is alarming considering I am giving my DOB and SS# in order to find my account. This problem leads me to call several of the customer service numbers they have, and when I enter my personal info on the call, they hang up! FINALLY after 6 calls I get a customer service agent on the phone who can somehow manage to find my account with the same info I had been entering prior. This leads to him telling me about ANOTHER TECHNICAL ISSUE Citizens is having! I am fed up, I have accounts with 3 other banks and never had I experienced the tech issue this horrible place does. I also would like to note that I have been a customer for over a decade and when I went to apply for a mortgage loan they denied me, but every other place I went to didn't, and I ended up having a loan with another company. I have read other reviews and it appears I am not the only one who feels this way, and that is why I am complaining. If I thought it was just me, I would keep quiet, but this is frustrating and wrong to treat a customer who has been loyal even when this bank doesn't deserve it. Once this latest "tech issue" is resolved I plan on taking out all my money and say good riddance. I just hope I am able to before the next "tech issue" arises. I hope this reaches people and stops them from opening accounts with this bank to save them the headache and aggravation I am experiencing.

On July 17th, I attempted to open a checking and savings account with ********************** using their new account offer which requires you to bundle the checking and savings online to receive the offer. They provided an option to fund the account using a debit card which I provided from my prior bank. My prior bank put a hold on the transaction and sent a text asking me to confirm the transaction. Any responsible adult knows this is a common preventative measures financial institutions use to prevent fraud. The very next day July 18th i spoke with Citizens customer service 800 number to try to resolve this issue. I spoke to two agents who had no idea what I meant when I said I wanted to try to submit a payment to fund the account and a supervisor. So out of 3 banking professionals none of them had the common sense to say hey were going to need you to come in to a local branch to verify your identity and confirm your intent to open an account. I received no reasonable resolution on July 18th. By Friday they were already in the process of closing the account, without speaking with me or any attempted communication and without refunding the $200 that was already provided to fund the account. They agents are poorly trained and lack problem solving ability, and are quick to try smooth talk their way out of poor business practices. No Citizens bank there is no excuse for discriminating against an individual because of something beyond their control. Like Im supposed to have control over my bank trying to verify a transaction? There was absolutely no effort to verify my identity with my current bank or myself which I hate to sound repetitive but when dealing with finances is actually a really big deal. These people lack basic problem solving, their representatives are rude and are trained to read off a script instead of actually trying to assist, and requiring someone to sign up online but then having absolutely no support for setting up afterwards is just bad business.

This bank has to be the worst institution I have ever in my life dealt with from a customer service aspect, technology aspect (app and website). I just hung up with a supervisor named ******** who literally said the bank app being down is not a banking error thus the egregious NSF fees I received due to NOT being able to access the app and transfer funds could not be credited back. I was charged over $300 in NSF fees and all they were able to offer me was $35 in fees and tell me that I shouldve went to a branch to attempt a transfer. Im extremely blown away by the audacity and lack of customer service and customer care I received and will now have to take a day off of work in order to go to the limited branch locations and close my account as I cant believe that the supervisor not a regular customer service rep but the supervisor told me this today. I explained initially I work 2 jobs and both my jobs do not have a branch within 30 miles and I do NOT drive to work! Stay away from Citizens Bank and trust me never do business with them !!!

Citizens bank mortgage department is not a local bank. Do yourself a favor and visit a local credit union. You cannot make a mortgage payment at a branch. I called the mortgage department on June 10 to let them know I have a new home insurance policy. I wanted the new policy paid from my escrow account and not my old policy that I would be canceling at renewal on July 15th. Well Citizens assured me the new policy would be paid that they already had the new policy from my insurance company. You guessed it, they paid the old policy. I paid the new policy with my credit card so the policy didnt cancel and told Citizens escrow department. They told me they would pay the new company. They either do NOT listen or cannot comprehend a sentence. I had to tell them again that I already paid the policy and I did not want my escrow account to be short. Then she told me if I wanted my insurance escrowed next year that I would have to talk to someone in the mortgage department to set up escrow payments ????????. I had to tell her my account is already set up for escrow, it was when I signed my mortgage ************* wasnt talking to anyone else. Then I asked to talk to a manager, I was on hold for 11 minutes to then be told all the supervisors are in a ***************** would call me back. Yeah, lets see how long that will take..RUN far away from Citizens Bank. If rates were not so high, I would be refinancing today with a LOCAL bank or ************

Absolute nightmare!!!! They buy high interest student loans without your consent. Even if you pay on the due date they take a week or more to process the payment and report you to credit bureaus as ***** days late.

after multiple (4-5 efforts) of trying to link online accounts there has been no resolution to the problem. There only response is that the request has been submitted and will take 1-2 business days. Its been two weeks of 1-2 buisness day answers. Wish I had not joined this bank
