Dear BBB, I am writing to report a contract breach and subsequent negative impact on my credit score by Sunpower, a solar panel company. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue, the company has failed to fulfill their contractual obligations, leaving me with a non-functional solar system and accumulating debt. In June 2022, I entered into a contract with Sunpower to install solar panels on my home, with the promise of reducing my electricity bill. However, the system has only worked for approximately six months out of the nearly three years since installation. Despite my repeated requests for assistance, the company has failed to resolve the issue. To make matters worse, Sunpower filed for bankruptcy in August 2024, but continued to send me bills without providing any means to address the ongoing issues with my solar system. My attempts to escalate the matter to a manager or supervisor were consistently ignored, and I was only able to speak with payment collectors. As a result of Sunpower's breach of contract and neglect, this account is now negatively impacting my credit score. I have tried to resolve this matter amicably, but the company's inaction has left me no choice but to seek assistance from the BBB. I bought a house in March, 2023 and a solar panel sales person talked me into purchasing solar panels for my home. I agreed and he told me that my payments would be approx. $180 a month to start and the Loan would reamortize annually. He said I could start payments asap, which I told him yes I want to do that, because the other option was to not start payments until the following year. I was not sure why that was an option but I told him to start payments until asap. I set up an online account and kept seeing $0 due. I sent a message about when and where to send payment and never got a response. I called in and was told a bill will be sent soon. It wasn’t until July 2024 I get a bill and it says $271 due. I’ve been paying on the bill since then and 100% is going toward interest and nothing towards principal. The loan will reamortize in July and the monthly payment will increase to an amount I cannot pay monthly. I was lied to and my questions were not answered when I tried to reach out to the company.Business Response

I am writing to formally dispute the account referenced under account number ********* that appears on my credit report. This account was opened without my authorization and constitutes fraudulent activity. I have no recollection of applying for or consenting to any agreement with PATIENTFI/LAUNCH * ****** Under 15 USC 1692g (Validation of Debts), you are required to provide verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment if I notify you in writing within 30 days. I have not received any signed contract or documentation proving that I consented to this account. Without a valid, legally binding agreement bearing my signature, there is no basis for this account to exist under my name. Since this account was established fraudulently, I request its immediate removal from my credit report and that any collection activity cease. If you cannot provide proper validation within 30 days, you are required to delete this account from my record and stop further collection efforts. This company frauded me into signing a contract saying they were sun run and they agreed to fix my roof. I have a Solar lease with a company called SunStrong Management and they are required per the lease to service my solar system and pay me an annual performance guarantee if the system does not generate enough solar KiloWatt-hours. I have two solar invertors and one has been broken since late October 2024. I tried for months to get it fixed by submitting orders and contacting the company to fix it, but it still hasn't been fixed. I've paid my monthly lease through February 2025 even though I have broken equipment. I stopped payment in March so I can finally get my equipment fixed. Sunstrong is in breach of the per the signed lease contract. (#1) I want my invertor fixed (#2) I want my account credited for paying four months with broken equipment covering period November 2024-February 2025 which equates to a combined $745.40 (3) pay me my annual "performance guarantee" per my lease agreement since system vastly underperformed the previous yearBusiness Response

I am unable to access the app to monitor the solar panels. I need a technician to come out to the house to reconnect the WiFi. I received a email after contacting sunstrong they are too busy to assist me. I got a letter stating l am not connected to the WiFi and will be in violation of my lease agreement. I had solar put on my roof Oct. 2023, since than we notice our Edison bill has been the same without solar than with. so we called to get the system looked at with no response from the company ,for 5 months we tried and tried to get o hold of anyone with no luck . Come Dec of 2024 we finally get ahold of someone that but a claim in to get a tech out to look at our system and this will happen within 60 days we were told, here it is march of 2025 and still no one has been out and they are tell us we can't get another company out to look at it or else well void our contract, so I'm reaching reaching out for any sort of help to get anything moving in the right directionBusiness Response

We reached out to company who was originally Sun Power in April 2024. Our unit was not working properly. They sent a technician out and ordered parts. They NEVER completed the job. The company filed Chapter 11 which put all work orders on hold. Our solar lease was then transferred to Sunstrong. We have made multiple attempts to reach them via phone, email, and tickets submitted to come finish the job and have gotten the runaround. 4/16, 4/19, 5/9 email confirming parts were received and delivered on 4/25. 5/25 email confirming you are in contact to fix issue with panels. 6/11 Email confirming tehnician. Appt date: June 24. August 21, email document case ********* Nov 6th verification ticket 1******* **january 22, 2025 opened ticket 1215983,Feb 21, 2025 opened ticket 1258671. We continue to pay our solar lease, yet our unit is not working properly and still needs repaired. Our true-up with PGE on 2/24/25 was $ 2,589.71. As a resolution we want our unit fixed as promised in warranty, we also want to be reimbursed our true-up since our system has not been working properly since April. Letter response from company. They want to differ our payment which we specially asked not to because it extends our contract lease. In the meantime we are still accruing a pge trueup since our solar is not working properly. They said they will differ payments to July which is concerning if our unit it. Not fixed by then as its one if the hottest months which means a lot of electricity is utilized and we will continue to have a high true-up bill. Them saying they will submit to the O and M team is what we have been told many times. We still have not been contacted by S******** to set up any appointment for troubleshooting this issue.

Solar true up balance was $2725.88. We mailed check today to pay our *** Bill. Have not heard back yet from solar lease company if they will reimburse us this trueup amount. We believe they should reimburse us as our leased panels are not working as they should be and we have tried multiple times to get them to fix this issue.
