      We have been with American Home Shield for 17 years. The compressor on our 20+ year old AC unit went out. We had to pay almost a thousand dollars for refrigerant because this unit is so old it still uses R22. Putting a ******* on this unit is not helping anyone. The contractor told me that American Home Shield has replaced entire systems for units only six years old. Shop around, AHS is not the only home warranty company and I am sure someone else will take better care of their loyal customers.

      If I could leave zero stars I would. Ive had the same reoccurring issue with my refrigerator that leaves me without one for up two weeks at a time because American home shield will not fix it properly. They have companies come out and replace the same part over and over again and tell me thats their standard practice when it keeps doing the same issues over and over again. I pay $125 each time this happens for my fridge to last for a month. They refused to answer any of my questions and always leave me hanging and never offer any reimbursement.

      Ive never been treated so terribly by a company. Theyre truly evil. I had an emergency yesterday at 2am when my well pump stopped working. I put in a service request right away. I called the company they matched me with and they said they dont work with AHS and never have. Then throughout the day, AHS continued to ignore my emergency, first saying that they had to confirm that the first company no longer worked with them (which they claim took hours to do), then saying they couldnt find a different company to come out to check my well pump, then refusing to give me the green light to find my own company and reimburse me for the work. I called them literally 5-7 times throughout the day with no resolution I have a newborn and I NEEDED running water in order to feed and care for my child. With a holiday coming up and no one scheduled, I had to have my husband run out and buy some parts to try to fix the problem himself. The NEXT DAY (the day before the 4th of July) AHS finally calls me back and says they are willing to let me find a company and reimburse the cost. But once they heard my husband had to try and fix it himself in the meantime, the woman said Well I have you in a recorded line and you admitted that you tried to fix the problem yourself which isnt allowed and therefore we can no longer cover this service, or any future services on your well system. She proceeded to argue and belittle me for the next five minutes and seemed to think the whole situation was amusing.They then proceeded to make the membership cancellation process a nightmare and made it extremely difficult to cancel, transferring me twice and trying to bribe me to stay with them.Throughout the two years that Ive had their most expensive membership, never once did I actually help me.

      If I could give this company 0 stars I would. AHS **** they are a rip off company! I will be seeking legal action against them. Them keep trying to take money out of my account after saying my account is not active and it is I just paid for it a month ago. They tried to charge my account ****** please dont deal with this stupid company or you will definitely regret it.

      I have an AC unit that is over 50 years old. It barely is able to keep the small house cooled down when running constantly. I thought I'd be able to get a new unit since this isn't working so well and it's really old.... American Home Shield charged me $125 for a service call, which seems like it should either be a lot less or even free. The guy put in 2 lbs of freon, and because it's such an old AC unit, the cost of that stuff was more expensive... so two pounds of freon was $550. Plus the $125 service call charge.... For that cost, I could have bought two window units and been just fine. Not to mention the $28 a month for over a year that I put out. These home appliance insurance companies are like every other insurance company....out to make a profit at your expense. And when I called to cancel my service (or rather, NON service), I got the runaround...trying to get me to keep the service by offering me lower and lower monthly payments. So, after going through two operators, this one girl keeps offering me better and better deals to stay with the company. I think it was three or four different times she came back and kept lowering the monthly payment trying to get me to keep my policy. It ended up being $12 dollars lower per month but I'm done with American Home Shield. Not sure if any of them are really worth paying out every month and then having to pay more to get someone to come out just to have them charge you even MORE money to NOT get anything. And when they DO replace something (like I had a garbage disposal replaced years ago), they put in the cheapest one they can find. Save your money... put that away every month and if and when something breaks, you'll most likely come out even or possibly ahead of where you were if you had gone with this home protection company. They are in it to make money... and that means not shelling out any to YOU when you need help.

      If I could give 0 stars I would we have been paying home warranty for awhile. Sometimes it has been ok but this time was the worst.
      Took over a month to get anywhere with our fridge and when it was deemed unfixable they decided to charge for repairs out of the budget they allow for a fridge leaving us a measly $700 to go buy and replace a fridge that is only 2 years old. So not only did we just do this 2 years ago and pay some out of pocket for that fridge now it’s scrape metal and we are out another $2k for the remaining to replace with a similar fridge.
      Customer service won’t listen they just read off a script. I’m basically single mommin’ it because my husband is overseas and they could care less. Their contract even states they’ll repair or replace well they weren’t able to repair so now they need to replace and for the amount it would cost to replace a similar fridge … not take money out of the allotted amount because their contractors can’t fix things

      0 STARS IS NOT AN OPTION AND IT SHOULD BE. They do not understand scope of work that is submitted to them, they will do anything to send full payment. When asked about payments, they have information or cannot provide it, they have no complaint department, you have to repeat you situation a million times and no one seems to know how to get information or give you correct information. They are foreign representatives so in general, hard to understand what they are saying when you are trying to get as much information as you can about your claim. They don't upload your account online, you can't see payments made for your claim- just all in all HORRIBLE.

      I've had AHS for 20 years, and they have covered several repairs on my washer, so props for that, hence the single star. However, the condenser went out on my AC a few years ago, they tried to waffle out of replacing the unit, they tried to get the technician to say the failure was due to lack of maintenance. But thankfully the honest tech told them the problem was a crack in the coil from top to bottom. They had to replace it, but only covered 80%. I also had a water heater fail 14 years ago, but since it was still putting out a very low amount of hot water, they said it technically was still working and wouldn't be covered. But if I used their plumber I would get a discount on installation. That water heater has now gone out, but they said it wasn't covered due to "modifications" that were made on installation. I have no idea what the modifications were, but it was THEIR contract plumber that did the installation. I'm done dealing with them, canceled my contract and getting a lawyer.

      We've had #AmericanHomeShield since we bought our home in 2018. I called in for repair several appliances 1/20/25. All of them have been taken care of except our microwave. I keep getting the run around about the contractor from #DoctorMaintenance not sending the update that the microwave needs to be replaced. I have called American Home Shield and spoken with someone 12 times since 5/19. Over 5 months and neither one can get their act together. It's been a colossal waste of my time and obviously my money paying them now $125 a month for the piece of mind, but getting the run around. I really feel like they don't want to help me anymore because I called in multiple appliances on the same ticket, which by their rules is allowed. The escalation team told me last week that they talked with the contractor and the contractor was supposed to be sending the documentation that the microwave needs to be replaced. That was last Wednesday. I have not received an update. No one can answer anything or provide a resolution. At this point, if I get this resolved, I want to cancel their bs home warranty and just save my money. I would NOT recommend them under any circumstances. I will look for another home warranty company, but I think it will be more of the same.

      I called for service for my air conditioning on May 3, 2024 to American Home Shield. One of the contractors broke my air conditioner / Heating system. They sent 15 contractors and nobody is taking blame on breaking my system and pulling wires. I spent all summer and winter 2024 without no air-conditioning or heat! They sent 15 contractors to work on my air conditioner. I have every date and company that came to my home in 2024 and 2025. I even told them that I believed the company called Nova HVAC did not know what he was doing! The guy lied and said he never touched my unit! That's impossible! My fans was working outside when he left nothing was working and he turned the furnace off! He Shook my hand and said sorry he can't fix it! American Home Shield decided to send Lindsay Heating and cooling on May 8th, but they were not the company who broke it! I told them that but they sent them back again on May 29, 2025. After October 22, 2024, American Home Shield asked me to call back in the Spring 2025. I call back and they sent Crown Air on 5/6, they said my thermostat wires were missing. They sent another company called Precision to give a second opinion and they said wires are missing on the unit, not the thermostat. The whole unit needs to be replaced. American Home Shield refuse to fix my air conditioning / heating unit! Most of the contractors did not know how to work on a American Standard unit. So I started requesting someone who knows how to work on my American Standard unit. Why would they blame me and they gotten all these pictures and reports from all these contractor and not attempt to fix it and make it right! I is clear someone did not know what they were doing! I countless said take this unit out of here and replace it! They would not even give me a window unit or fan to help with the heat and I had kids in my house and my friend had a heat stroke! Customer service said they will reach out, they will turn me down again! Don't ever use them, sad.
