This company charges premiums but never delivers on service, and if they do offer some semblance of service it is low quality. Avoid at all costs. It would be better if you just saved the money for the premium they charge you and use it toward any issue(s) you may encounter.

I have had AHS since 2009 and they have been nothing but useless, I have only kept them as I have turned the property into a rental, and its easier to just call them to handle any service issues. But I have had three things happen in the past year and they have failed me at every turn. 1) toilets, they would have replaced them but the plumber who they dispatched told me I was better off going to ********** and getting my own and installing that as the toilet AHS sent him will was garbage and wouldnt last a year. 2) HVAC, the system was dying they continued to send out contractors to repair it. Finally the contractor said they could no longer in good conscience repair it and the cost of replacing the refrigerant would be in the thousands. The AHS contractor told me a I needed a whole system replacement which AHS would not cover. I got several quotes and replaced the system using a separate contractor, no help from AHS. 3) the hot water heater has a leak, contractor says needs a replacement, my out of pocket for the replacement is $1,300 for the non-covered portion of the replacement, so Im not sure what AHS is actually covering. I will be canceling my contract, Im paying $100/mo and they havnt actually covered anything. My recommendation is stay away, they are a scam.

Thinking at first this would be great to have, let me tell you...waste of money. We moved into a house that seller bought this policy for as an incentive for buyers. Ok. Great. HOWEVER, our first day and the ac/heat unit shut off. Used AHS. They sent a tech out quick for $125. Awesome. Come to find out, it was a faulty electrical panel. AHS moved the service call to an electric tech. Great. Come to find out, tech was NOT in our radius and could not perform work needed. BUT he was very helpful and let us know the panel was a fire hazard and do NOT leave it unattended. It was sizzling and arcing. Well, we ended up losing fridge, food in fridge, ac, and water heater. AHS was made aware right away on the situation from both us and the tech they sent out. That was June 10th. On June 30th they said they would give us a payout to find our own electrician. Ok. Great. Come to find out, they do NOT cover the breakers, main breaker or basically anything in the breaker box seems like. It will still be over $1500 out of pocket. We still have yet to hear what the "payout" will be. AND to add insult to injury...before the very first problem is resolved, they call to see if you want to upgrade your plan!!! Upgrade? I'm worried about your SLOW process and my house burning to the ground and your more worried about getting MORE money from us rather than help!Definitely will NOT be renewing contract with them. And certainly NOT upgrading.

I wanted to award 0 or negative stars. This company is a rip off and they work to have contractors drive up prices so they pay less and the customer pays more of the job cost. We have been back and forth about our AC unit. The tech that came out said we needed an evaporator coil or a new unit because there is a leak and it's an old system. The tech left with part of it unplugged and said he couldn't add any refrigerant in it because it'll just run back out. Suggest that we run the system on fan. We are in the middle of a serious heat wave (heat indexes over 105) and my husband has a heart condition. That makes absolutely no sense. They claim they need to do just under $1800 worth of modifications for the coil or a new system. That's BS. I had a second opinion and the only thing he said that would qualify as a modification is to cut a tube that's already there, replace whatever, and put it back. So I asked about another option since they only want to "fix it" and they said they could send the information to the Cash Out department to get a value since we don't want to use their contractor. They said it take up to 3 days. We are on day 6 or 7. I keep calling to get an update and all they do is keep saying they are waiting on the Cash Out department to figure it out. They claim all they can do is email that department and we just have to wait. Some of their customer service reps have true empathy, but most of them are sticking to the script they were giving to give customers and it's definitely void of empathy. It's just a call they answered and figured out how to get me off the phone. This is not the first time we have had to pay out of pocket for a repair that is supposed to be covered. They find any reason to not pay for everything and the contractor give high estimates. They are all full of BS! DO NOT USE THEM OR YOU'LL SPEND MORE MONEY THAN YOU WOULD HAVE!!!

AHS has been harassing me for payment of this plan which I cancelled three months ago. They refuse to cancel upon my several requests and are trying to charge me a CANCELLATION FEE of $200! I will never ever use this company again. They continue to attempt to ACH my bank account!!!!!!!!!

Terrible company to deal with. We have not had air conditioning for over a month with no end or remedy in sight. We requested service and only one company came out and stated they couldn’t work with American Home Shield anymore and couldn’t do the repair with them. They approved us to get our own contractor and for them to reimburse us but this hasn’t happened because they have turned down blown quotes we had done. They said they wont pay even though our contract states they will pay up to $15k for the repair. We have called daily and still no end in sight for this to be repaired. Now we are in the hottest months of the year.

Scam never buy their warranty, After living there for four months and the sellers buying this warranty they Charge 125$ just to get someone out to visit, had someone come replace the motor in my garbage disposal, then a month later had my ac pipes freeze up so they charged me another 125$ just for a guy to come do a inspection, he showed up and after 2 minutes said it was wear and tear and would have to get back to me. I called another **** company to do an inspection and they gave me a quote of ***** to fix because parts alone were 3k and at that point just get a new unit for that price. Called another **** company and they spent a hour during the inspection and found out it was the motor fan dying out and a coil that needs replaced, costing around 3k total. I call and let American home shield know what two parts need replaced and they said that their inspection guy who spent 2 minutes in my house said it was a leak or wear and tear. They wouldnt let me see the estimate or report of the ** inspection, I called the ** company and they wouldnt give me the report either and I would have to talk to American home shield. They then said it was wear and tear and not covered. I then went with the 3rd ** company and had them replace the coil and motor and he got my ** unit up and running after a Month of dealing with American Home shield. I send the invoice to them and went with there Cash option and they wrote me a check for 255$ instead of paying the 3k parts coming out of my pocket because there guy spent a 2 minute inspection. Biggest Fraud and Money hungry company there is. Now a year after my warranty expired I login and they have a pop up banner saying my warranty plan has expired. Then under that popup is says have you heard about our new HV** program?? Then under that it reminded me of the service requests for my Cash In Leau option for parts for the ** unit and was only willing to pay 255$ out of the 3k invoice. FRAUD FRAUD FRAUD. New homeowners do not buy!!

I can't even give them 1 Star. We have had them for several years, and our A/C unit went up. THEIR service person recommended a new unit. Well, the company they got was charging over $7600's. We found a company who would do it for $5800's. But AHS would only pay us $685's. That was it. The rest came from us. And they charged a service fee of $125 on top of all that. Our understanding was they would cover repairs and if needed, would replace with new unit. Nope !!! Would definitely NOT recommend.

It's absolutely impossible to cancel the recurring charges. I often face wait times of 30 minutes to 2 hours. I actually waited 2 hours on Friday and finally spoke with a representative. She informed me that to cancel my subscription, I needed to be transferred. However, I was surprised to find that the cancellation department was closed, and I would need to call back later. I've had no success getting through to anyone on Monday either. This has been an ongoing issue for 3 months, and I still haven't been able to cancel my subscription.

I had this warranty for 6 years. Made one request to have an electrical issue fixed and was told it wasn't covered even though the policy stated it covered electrical issues. was told someone in customer ********************** would call me back on the electrical issue and its now been over a month and no call back. They just charged my account the monthly fee and, even though I am cancelling the service today, are refusing to refund the amount they just charged me.
