This company is a scam and there should be a class action lawsuit put together against them. I just recently cancelled my contract with them yesterday. I have had AHS for about 18 months. Have paid them approximately $1800 and have not received a single service from them even though I have put in 2 requests for service. Both services were were for our ** refrigerator. The first request actually had a service man come out and attempt to make a repair. He replaced the evaporator. Everything seemed fine but after a week, the same issues arose. I contacted AHS and they wanted to charged me another $75 deductible even though it was the same issue that did not get resolved. At that point, I made repairs myself using a ******* video. The second request was my compressor went out on the fridge. They sent out 2 different appliance companys and they both refused to work on a sealed system compressor. I had to make contact with AHS and again were going to charge another $75 deductible to send out a third company. The kicker is, they were going to send out the same company that came the first time. At that point I had it with this horrible company. It took an act of congress to cancel my contract with them, and they had the nerve to charge me $67 more to cancel. At this point, I am just going to take the AHS monthly fee I was paying and put it into to savings to take care of issues myself as they arise. This company, along with other warranty companies need to be investigated and held accountable for stealing money from hardworking people! Please do yourself a favor and not even consider this as a homeowners peace of mind, because it will quickly turn into a nightmare!!

Our family has had American Home Shield for many years and up until April I would of gave the company a 4/5 star rating (which is why I gave the company a two instead of one). As of April American Home Shield has been a complete headache full of horrible communication, sending people to homes and not knowing who they are sending, having customer ********************** reps say things and not backing what their own customer ********************** people offer and say (which is on email and voicemail that they admit)Starting April the wife placed a repair to be done on our washing machine. A repair person came and took numerous pictures of not only the washer, model number, and part broken, but also said he should have the part in a couple of days and the repair finished in about a week. After a week we called AHS and they could not even tell us who they sent originally (wife said who did you have in our house and wanted an answer - two days later they finally figured out who they sent-kind of scary this day-in-age to have strangers in your house). Then...Not only American Home Shield, but the person they sent never stayed in contact with us and we had to keep calling both. Weeks went by and at first they said the part was the wrong part (How? you took numerous pictures of things), then they said well they are not sure when a part could come in this is all after going two months with no washer and having the inconvenience to drive and pay for a laundry mat.On the end of the 3rd month and numerous calls two of their customer ********************** reps told us that we would have the washer replaced, so we threw away our washer when we called and updated to see when the check would get here a supervisor apologized and said they were wrong and that would not happen- now what? that is not our fault their program told us which is on email and voicemail it would get replaced and we no longer have a washer because it was told it would be replaced. This has been going on now almost 5 months we want a new washer

We bought a new house that came with an AHS policy. The first time we turned our air conditioning on, the heat pump, transformer, and thermostat fried. Six weeks later, we are still without air conditioning AND have paid $950 in addition to the $100 paid up front. They've closed our claim even though the problem has not been fixed. Originally they ordered the wrong unit. Getting ahold of customer ********************** is ridiculously difficult. The automated system is infuriating, then the system forces a call-back, then (when they finally called me back) I kept getting put on hold and picked up by a new representative, starting from the beginning three times. Now I've been instructed to call them back in the morning. We absolutely do not recommend this company. It's a scam.

I signed up for American Home Shield back in October 2021 because all of my Viking appliances (Refrigerator, 6 Burner Stove, Dual Oven, and Microwave) are approaching 20 years old. I was betting something would go wrong. I am glad I did. I saw a leak under my refrigerator on Saturday, 7/23, my microwave stopped working, and 3 of the burner on the stove took about 10 seconds to ignite. I filed a claim for all of them on Saturday night. Got a call the first thing the next morning on 7/24, and the owner from Optimum Appliance said he would be in my area on 7/25 from 8-12.The owner called me at 8:45 and said he was on the way. He got here at 9:30 and was able to complete everything in under 2 hours. He tested the components of the frig and said that the drip pan overflowed because of the excess mold and "stuff" on it, preventing the evaporating pan from evaporating the excess water. Whether that is totally true or not, we'll find out. He said he will come back if it didn't take care of the problem free of charge. He took care of the ignitor on the stove and microwave in less than 30 minutes. They all work like new now.The gentleman was older, but seems to be very knowledgeable. He did outstanding work as far as I can see now. Looking back, I am glad that I had American Home Shield. He said, if I didn't have it, he would have charged easily over $800 for all the repairs, including parts and labor and tax. Instead, I paid about $83 for the service charge fee and tax.Hopefully, I won't need to use the insurance again, but I am happy that I have it if I do

No air conditioning for over a month, and the first contractor R ****** a/c they sent billed me $299 for a new pad and $399 for an electrical district box they never installed. On top of the fact that the condenser unit they installed doesnt work still. I have to keep opening new cases because they close them out without checking with me if its fixed. I asked for a different contractor to come out the third time because the first one wanted an additional $900 to fix what they installed five days earlier. The second contractor came out and said it was a simple fix but still doesnt work even after they said they fixed it. Still waiting still 95 upstairs, over a month and customer ********************** just makes you angry by not caring and not trying to help and refusing to get a supervisor. Worst home warranty experience ever. But they keep sending emails reminding me my warranty is about to expire and to sign up for another year.

American Home Shield is prompt and courteous. I would recommend them for home warranty.
