1 starMy first experience using AHS years ago went well but after that it has been a nightmare. Contractors have not shown up at all or cancelled when they were supposed to be onsite. I have had to pay over $700 out of pocket to fix my own heating when AHS was unable to find someone to fix it during the coldest week of the year nor cared that there was no working heat in my home for several days while they tried to find someone to come (which they never found). I am currently still waiting for a contractor to show up after the first one never showed up nor called to cancel. This is the second issue in months that that has happened. Calling in to get customer ********************** is the worst part of dealing with AHS. The reps all read from a script but do not listen or act on the actual issues - they just repeat back whatever is written in front of them. Escalation **** is the same. AHS feels like a scam at this point and I will be switching providers ASAP.Review fromDuane F

1 starThere is no way that I would EVER recommend AHS to anyone. I had a water heater issue and it was like pulling teeth just to get answers. The worst part is that NO ONE speaks good English. The communication was poor. They were repetitive in there words which didn't help any and they had a hard time explaining the services. I made about 6-7 calls just to get a supervisor that speaks English and it never happened. They don't even have a legitimate corporate number. When I looked it up the number took me back to the original people I spoke with. What started out to be a complete overhaul of my water heater turned into them not covering it and me having to pay $2500 out of pocket to have a water heater replaced that was under manufacturer warranty. $2500 just to install it because of some secondary tank issue. This all happened from July 16th 2022 when it started until July 20 now whereas the plumbers have to get back with me for a date to come back. Just about a month ago they sent a contractor to fix my AC unit. Come to find out it was the capacitor which is $20 and they were going to charge me over $700. $495 of that was for said capacitor. I ordered the part on Amazon and replaced it myself using ******** Once my water heater is installed I will be looking to replace these clowns once and for all. BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT USE AMERICAN HOME SHIELD if you want great quality service and great customer **********************.Review fromCherry P

1 starIll give this company zero star for sending incompetent contractor (*******). ******* zero star too for leaving us hanging. They said it was only $100-200 to fix. They broke something that was not broken. They left us with no water. They had to turn off the main water because the shower was splashing all over. They were charging us to stop the leak. They said that another company was coming which was a total lie. Thats when I called AHS again. Ive ask for second opinion and the y sent us another contractor (**** *****. So **** **** came and took a look at our shower. Just to let you know we have to shower outside with the hose for almost 2 weeks. Its not acceptable. American home shield refuse to give them authorization. We paid **** **** $250 for partial payment. Now AHS refused to give them authorization. Its been frustrating showering outside with a hose. Please help. They should not have this business.Review fromBarbara C

1 starTERRIBLE!!!!!!! American Home Shield used to be dependable with good technicians to repair what was needed. Now you cannot get *** on the phone to talk about anything without spending hours trying to connect with a live person. Then you are often connected to someone who cannot speak English clearly, so it becomes very difficult to communicate. EX: Recent request for repair of my HVAC, ductwork, and thermostat resulted in a tech coming last Friday morning, saying I needed to have my coils cleaned BEFORE he could fill the freon up, but the cleaning was not covered by the contract. So I had to pay the tech $125.00 before he would do anything on that visit. He used my hose to clean the coils, and then said he'd filled up the freon and things were fine. That afternoon the house was over 84 degrees again even though the thermostat was set to 78 degrees. When I tried to call *** and the contractor again all I could get were recordings. NO ONE HAS EVER CALLED ME BACK and it is now Wednesday of the next week, temperatures in the house are over 80 degrees, and I am out the service fee and the money I paid the contractor for the cleaning. I tried going to the website to get through to someone, but that wasn't possible. They do not have a chat box or a help function or email address there. What I DID find is that even though I had requested my contact info be updated, told them I had only a land line and did not have a cell phone so no texting would reach me, they still had an old cell phone number on the record! I couldn't even get anyone at the *** company headquarters to answer the phone. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!Review fromKeralee T

1 starLet me tell you! My AC started acting up 6/20/22 went out 6/21/22 for in contact with AHS 6/22/22 they came out 6/24/22. Said I need a new unit but had to pay full price for it which Im confused because what is the warranty for? Anyways they said I could get a temporary fixe which is my motor free of cost just have to pay for the coolant which again what is the warranty for? I get contacted from absolute air conditioning who told me if AHS shipped it would be here in 5-7 business days after 7/4/22 this was told to me on 6/29/22 by absolute air conditioning. Well business day 7 is approaching I get an email from absolute air conditions they still havent received the part. So I call AHS multiple times who say its been delivered since 7/5/22. So Im back and forth with AHS and absolute air conditioning very upset! And Im calling from 7/14/22 until now! All I keep hearing from AHS its on the way I even asked for a tracking number and they said they didnt have it go figure! Which I dont u detest and how you dont have the tracking number! On to the next week 7/18/22 Ive called super upset asking where the part is at lady says at AHS it will be here Wednesday 7/20/22 well today approaches and they have nothing so Ive been on the phone with ******** *** ************ who got a call from AHS stating they just shipped our part! I call AHS back after the 3rd call today 7/20/22. Spoke with the escalation team who stated they just sent it and gave me a tracking number. I asked multiple times to speak with the corporate head office they wouldnt let me they just keep telling me over and over that its been ordered I told AHS that they have told me they since 7/5/22 it was shipped and couldnt give me a tracking number! At this point its been a whole month I have been without ac in these triple digits over 20 days!!! This is so unprofessional and this wait is ridiculous I have friends and co workers who use AHS and they get their stuff within the week!Review fromAwnya G

1 star********************* cannot give a rating.June 17, 2022, I called AHS regarding the toilet leaking from the master bedroom to the lower sitting area in my home. AHS called M&E Plumbing who came out to examine the toilet. The plumber could not reset the toilet account the floor underneath the toilet was rotten. I had no way of knowing the leak had been going on for a long length of time. I had no way of knowing this was going to be such a problem. M&E notified **********************************, who came to remove the toilet cut a hole in the ceiling of the Den which cost a total of $2,130.48. Now I'm stuck with this ****. American Home Shield stated to me they're not responsible because this is a secondary problem. AHS also stated to me I must call CWF Restoration to make sure the floor is secured before M&E will come out to replace the toilet. I'm on disability only paid once a month and cannot afford to pay for the services that first started with a phone call to American Home Shield. At this time I cannot give a rating due to me being so upset.Review fromKrista J

1 starI only left a 1-star because I could not leave a 0-star.Beware: they are listed as the number one warranty company on the internet. My father-in-law recommended this company to me because he had good experiences in the past with faulty items being readily fixed or replaced. In fact he had 3 items replaced. I placed a service request with American Home Shield on May 31, 2022 and they put it in the system on June 1, 2022. My A/C was not working. They said that they would have someone come out. It took over a week for them to come check it and as of today, 07/20/2022 it is still not working and they have refused to put in a replacement unit despite the recommendation of the contractor. They have been 4 times and always not fixed. They apparently have recommended to our contractor we put in a new system ourselves if we prefer that over parts being sent over and over again and they will do a payout of a small monetary amount for the unit and we will find our own contractor and unit. We have the highest warranty available and this is an absolute scam. In addition, calling the company does not produce any results and at the end of a very frustrating call you are told by the rep ******* for letting me help you today, please give me a 5/5 on the survey following the call." Absolutely pathetic.
