For an event at the Huntington Place, I was given a QR validation code that was supposed to take care of my parking for the day. I showed the parking lot attendant the QR validation code on my phone from my email, he gave me approval to park my vehicle, he gave me no further instructions on what I needed to do after the event was over and it was time to retrieve my vehicle. I don't understand why after a few weeks, my QR code was no longer accepted and I was given a violation fine of $70.25 plus the $10 fee for parking, which adds up to an $80.25 violation notice to be paid by 9/22/22. When trying to dispute the violation you are told to send an email, and after a numerous amount of prompts from the automated system, I was given another message that said my request was closed and denied. I'm surely not understanding what this means, tried to call the company that owes the Lot which is***********, and they said they couldn't help me, but to talk back with McKinley Payments. When I tried to email them again, I was sent back to***********. I feel like a ping pong ball on the losing side, getting bounced around with no solution in sight. I hope this matter can be resolved timely.Business Response

On August 6, 2022, my grandson was traveling in Nashville in a vehicle that is titled to me. He was traveling along with a couple of other vehicles with friends. One of the other drivers heard a loud pop and they turned off of Broadway and found a parking lot. They pulled into the parking lot to get off the street so they could safely check out the vehicle and find out what the problem was and whether the vehicle was safe to drive. There was nothing that told them this was a paid parking lot. No attendants, no signs, no restricted entrance or anything. They were there for a while trying to find the reason for the noise the car made, but they did not park their vehicles and leave them and go somewhere else. One person did go across the street to use the bathroom and when he returned, he realized he had lost his phone so he went back across the street to find it. In the meantime, the other people were there in the parking lot with their vehicles, trying to find what had happened to the one vehicle and see if it was safe to drive. I received a notice last Thursday, September 1, 2022 stating that i owed $11.00 for parking and a fine of $70.25 for a total of $81.25. I emailed McKinley Payments and explained all of this to them, but i received a reply within approx. 45 minutes stating that the dispute was denied. I don't mind to pay the parking of $11.00 but i do not think it is right for them to charge for the parking and then add a violation fine. What authority does McKinley Payments have to charge a fine for this? Is that legal? Also, i don't understand how they can have a "paid parking lot" and charge parking fees if they do not have either limited access or signs that state you must pay to park there or an attendant or something so that people know what to expect when they pull into a lot like that. The violation number for this is XXX-XXX-XXX and the requested "pay by" date is 09/22/2022. Thank you for any assistance you might give us on this.Business Response

As instructed by *******, we went online at Mckinleypayments.com and looked up the ticket number and it showed that the ticket had been closed. We also received emails from McKinley Payments on 09/13/22 that stated that the tickets had been closed by their system, so we are assuming that they closed the parking ticket of $11.00 and the violation fine of $70.25 and that no payment is expected from us. Thank you BBB, for your help in resolving this matter satisfactorily.

I parked in the parking lot near *** ********** and have done so several times before paying for parking through the automated app that charges my card in the background without my need to input anything as it is done several times before.
A month later I get a citation for $70 for failure to pay for parking and when I think back, I didn't receive notification that my parking payment was processed however, I didn't notice as the parking arm was up allowing me to leave the parking garage as it has done every time before. I contacted the company and they are giving lots of push back when clearly there was a software failure. I want to pay my $20 parking not an unfair markup of $70 which is sadly higher than the TWO entrees I ate that night at a rather pricey **********!
Please have the company contact me. This is unfair price gouging at its finest.Business Response

The company responded with the same automated email message essentially not giving me individualized feedback to the screenshot data sent in regards to how I paid automatically on previous visits. The email then goes on to say that due to my lack of providing the requested data, my violation dispute has been closed.
This is not a resolution of my issue as I still remain with a $70 parking ticket when their software failed to let me pay as I have done EVERY time before with my credit card on file with this parking service (please see attachments). Usually I am charged upon departing from the parking garage, I personally cannot explain why I wasn't charge this particular time. I have also attached communications with this company.

On 7/27 my car entered parking facility at 7600 Fannin St, Houston. While exiting, there was no one available collect payment but there was some notice to signup a website on your phone and make payment. While I was trying to do that somehow the arm opened and I had to exit to avoid blocking the exit. This company send me parking fee of $12 and a violation of $30.25. It was clear that the company purposely opened the arm remotely to FORCE collecting so-called violation fee. Had the arm remain closed, I would have used my phone to sign up at the website mentioned at the exit. Not my fault at all.
I understand that I owe parking fee of $12, which I would have paid right there had the arm remained closed. About the $30.25 "Violation fine" which this company claim I owe to them, I have nothing to do with it. If the company sends me a revised bill of $12, I would pay the parking fee of $12. The violation fee was an attempt by the company to collect money for which customer is not at fault.
Resolution Needed : Business should revise the bill and send bill only for the parking fee of $12.Business Response

What an insidious scam! As I was going through my mail yesterday, I came across something that I looked like junk mail, but I decided to open it to see what it was. I was shocked to discover that it was a "parking violation" notice alleging that I owed McKinley Payments $74.25! Not quite a month ago, I went out with my family to celebrate my son's birthday at a restaurant in the Gulch. My son was driving my car because I'm almost 80 years old and do not often drive at night. We pulled into a parking garage and a machine dispensed a small card, but there was no gate attendant. When we pulled into a parking space, we noticed that there was no slot to deposit cash, as there often is in public parking facilities. I said to my son that perhaps we could have the ticket validated in the restaurant. We had a nightmare of an experience in the restaurant, so when we left, we didn't think to ask to have our ticket validated. Then, as we pulled out of the lot, the gate automatically went up. We saw that there still was no attendant present, so we assumed that because it was after business hours on a Sunday night, like many other lots, there was no charge for parking. So when I opened my mail and saw that someone was trying to bilk me out of $74.25 for a $4.00 parking fee, I was incensed! The notice stated that they would not accept cash or a check - only a credit card! And when I tried to call to speak to someone about it, the recorded message only directed me to their website, and gave me no opportunity to speak to anyone. I would be happy to send them a check for $4.00, but since they refuse to accept checks, I am not about to give my credit card information to someone who is trying to scam me and extort an exorbitant amount of money!Business Response

On 8/3/22 I visited my Dr at 7600 Fannin. There was a sign that said first time free. When I left the gate opened and I left. The next time I went to the Dr I got to the gate and I had to text open to a number to pay. I went today to test it out and same thing. The gate wouldn't open without me texting. I didn't have to pay anything because it was under 30 minutes but it still wouldn't open. I will pay the $9.00 to be honest but I am not paying a $30.25 violation fee when it wasn't my mistake.Business Response

On 8/11/22 I entered the parking garage at 7400 Fannin street for a Dr appt. System did not give me any ticket. I noticed signs posted by elevator to scan qr code. I tried but it never would scan. I went to my appt and was out in less than 30 mins. I tried again to scan and nothing. When i got back to my parking area, again i tried to scan and nothing. I made my way to the gate and there was nothing indicating to pay for parking. I pulled up and the gate opened automatically. I assumed the qr code/garage/parking collection was either out of service and not available for that time. Since the gate opened i just drove through. I have received a bill for $7.00 + $70.25 parking violation. $77.25 is what I am charged for less than 30 minutes of parking and for something that was out of my control. Especially since I made every attempt to pay and the gate opened for me automatically. I understand the $7 parking that is owed even though the system was not functioning correctly but not the parking violation. I disputed the violation and received an email saying i was denied and decision is final. This is very unfair and feel this huge fee is taking advantage of a situation created by a faulty system.Business Response

Pulled in to a vacant lot next to a Starbucks in downtown Nashville. Did not see any signage or lines in the lot for payment options. No human fare takers or toll-booth options, no parking gates or any kind of obstacle that would prevent anyone from pulling into the lot. Was inside for 10 mins and a month later received a Parking Violation for $75, a $5 parking charge and $70 violation fee.
The letter threatens to send the bill to collections if it is unpaid in full with no customer service to assist in my claim. I will happily pay the $5 after the fact but will not be bullied by a payment processor that is working with debt collection agencies.Business Response

I got unfair parking fee and violation payments bill. I parked in garage around 40 minutes and There are no posted parking fees, no entry/exit arm, no ticket dispenser, and no place to make payment or employers present in the garage. They have no customer service line and my dispute was denied. This sure feels like a scam.
Should I still have the responsibility to pay this bill?
If I knew there is fee for the garage, I definitely paid.
This charge is legally unfair. There was no system to pay for parking. If I don't even know clearly why my dispute was rejected, this parking fee will be a scam. The lack of access to accurate notices and service portals means that this facility is illegal.
If I have to pay the fee of parking at that time I willing to pay, but fine fee is unfair.Business Response

I have been sent three parking tickets due to lack of their equipment working, and I have not only been denied my dispute, but I also am unable to contact anyone via email or phone to talk about it. I parked in their lots and hooked up my credit card / license plate to automatically capture when I come and go in the lot, and then to charge my card accordingly. However, they sent me three tickets saying I left without paying.Business Response
