I stayed at the ******************* Downtown in ****** for one night on November 24th. I checked around 4pm & checked out the following morning around 10am. The attached parking garage is owned by Metropolis Parking. I asked the hotel how parking works before going into the ************* told me it was $40 for 24 hours. We are *** Diamond Elite members & were told we would receive a discount. They also had a prize ********** won $10 off parking so they told me parking would be free. The hotel said to scan the parking code in the garage when I got in. It would be taken off my hotel bill. I exited the parking garage once that night and came back to see I was charged $36.75 by Metropolis just for driving out and back in. I drove out the following morning & was charged another $36.75 by Metropolis. Holiday Inn said they would take care of it. Both charges posted totaling $73.50. I called the hotel & was told they have no connection with Metropolis. I escalated to a hotel manager & explained I was offered free parking but she referred me to Metropolis. Metropolis said I needed a voucher from the hotel for parking. I called the hotel & was told again they have nothing to do with parking & do not offer vouchers. They would no longer acknowledge I was offered free parking & refused to honor it. This complaint is for both Holiday **************************** for mishandling customers & unethical business practices. ********************** should not charge $36 every time we leave the garage if the hotels said parking is supposed to be $36 per night. The hotel should not offer free parking & go back on their word. I would like a full refund of $73.50. The hotel should refund me but people pay to park with Metropolis & an honest company would not use dishonest practices. If the hotel tells us to park in that garage they need to clearly explain how it works & provide vouchers if they offer free parking. Both companies handled this poorly & it's obvious they do not care about their customers.Business Response

I parked in a lot that advised the parking rate was $3.99 per hour or $18.99 maximum. I was parked for 1 hour and 36 minutes as confirmed on the receipt that I attached in the jpeg file yet I was charged the maximum of $18.99. I called the company seeking a refund but was told that since I paid when I exited on the company's app she could not refund my overcharge.Business Response

I parked at a Metropolis parking lot that was free up till 1 hour. The video cameras did not catch my license plate leaving when I left within the allotted time, and I was charged $84 for two days of parking I never used. I contacted the business multiple times to get a refund and they never complied.Business Response

I parked my car in one of their garages thinking it was a public parking garage because it had signs pointing out parking was for the public. This was on Friday, Jan 24, 2025 around 5:30pm. The garage is located in *********, ** on ********************** I scanned the ** code to pay for parking and it registered my vehicle and that I would pay when I leave the lot. There were no signs in the garage stating that it would close at 9pm and that it is not open on the weekends. When I returned to the garage around 9:10pm, the gates and all the doors were closed and I couldnt access my car. It wasnt until I walked around to try to find an entrance until I saw a small sign that stated the closure times. There was also no contact information. Now my car is stuck and Ill have to pay for 3 days worth of parking charges. I went online and discovered many other people are duped by this. I went online trying to find contact information but it was useless. Oddly the online page stated that I should have received a text message alerting me that the garage would close 15 min before closure. I did not receive such message. I only received the initial message confirming the registration of my car when I first parked and scanned the ** code. What kind of parking garage closes at 9pm on a Friday? A deceptive one. I should only have to pay for the one day of parking and not 3 days of parking just because they cant open the garage on the weekend. That seems intentionally so that a car would be stuck over the weekend so they can get more money from the customer.Business Response

On 12/22/24 I parked at the *******************************************************. Upon entry and exit the gates were up. I didn't see any signage that stated payment needed to be made especially since the gates were up. On 1/23/24 I received a letter from Metropolis stating a failure to pay parking fees notice. There were additional fees added that were more than the parking itself. Between the time of us using the parking lot and then receiving the letter from Metropolis, there was no communication from the company stating a parking fee was due. The fact that the company decides to send no initial warning and then wants to add a notice fee and processing fee to the ticket is ridiculous. The processing fee if the gates were properly operating and we knew to pay when exiting would only have been the fees of parking and not the notice and processing fee. On January 17th my husband and I went to a restaurant in LA and parked in a familiar parking garage a block away. This time, however, there was no functioning ticket machine and the gate at the entrance was open. When we parked I noticed a qr code posted on the side of one of the pillars and that took me to Metropolis. It had me enter my license plate and then it automatically began my parking session. No rates posted anywhere in person or in the app. We were parked in the garage for an hour and forty minutes. I had found an advertisement on their website for a 100% discount on your first 24 hours of parking. To validate this discount you have to enter your license plate on the website. No cell service inside the parking structure. No employee staffing the lot. We drove out and it automatically ended my session and charged me $29.33. If we had any way of seeing the parking rates ahead of entering this structure we never would have parked here. But the session starts and ends automatically as you drive in and out of the garage. I contacted customer service and the response was that they cant validate anything retroactively. I tried again and got the same copy and pasted response. There is no accountability from this company. They are scammers who intentionally mislead you.Business Response

I received an email on 1/8/25 Stating that I had been to downtown *********, use my phone number and parked my car at Turnip Truck. (Screenshot attached) I have never stepped foot into downtown ********* with my vehicle or my phone number and parked with Metropolis Parking. Someone stole my identity, used my phone number to type it into their website and because they have no way of preventing fraudulent charges from happening their website allowed another person to steal my phone number, which is locked them into my account and they utilized it to Park. I have tried contacting their customer service and I have sent them all of the information that I have linked to the account and no one is helping me. They claim they cant find anything so now not only has someone taken my phone number and typed it into their system to steal my identity and use my account to pay for ********************** but their customer service claims that they cant find my account now. I want someone from that company to pull video camera footage and send to me who illegally stole my identity and part at the Turnip Truck downtown ********* on January 8. This is a terrible business that has a terrible website that allows anyone to go in and steal your information and utilize your phone number to park their vehicle vehicles illegally. There are no safeguards to logging in and nothing to prevent people from doing this.Business Response

Hello,My monthly parking lot was purchased by Metropolis Parking. They are now taking over operations and added a 5 dollar service fee to my monthly statement. I called and asked about why they have a service fee for a simple credit card transaction and they didn't answer. I then asked if I could pay in cash or by check to get around the service fee but they said that was impossible. Seems like a scam to get more money from people. Is that illegal? Can I force them to accept cash?Business Response
