The company is trying to avoid taking the payoff amount from the insurance and requesting the full loan amount for the totaled out vehicle. They are vertical scammy and predatory. Do not use this company.

I had a car loan with Santander Consumer USA. I missed a car payment because of me being the only one working due to my veteran husband having health issues and sustaining two traumatic brain injuries. I contacted them several times and each time they were going to work with me. They sent a tow truck to my house to repossesse my car. I have not gotten any written notification from them that they were going to repossess my car. They state that they sent a certified letter March of 2024...here it is March of 2025. (I never got the "certified" letter) They said they would email me the letters but their higher *** called and were very rude and hateful. When I told them my husband is a disabled veteran, they literally said they did not care. I also took out the extras when I got the car, like road side assistance, insurance on it incase my husband or I got hurt and was out of work, etc etc....they said they do not honor those. I asked about refinancing or working with me with the payments because $700 a month I could no longer do...they told me to find a better job so that I could afford it and they were still coming to take the care and didn't care if myself or my family lost our house due to not having a car to get to work. They really shouldn't be opened as a business.

Do I have to leave a star?Forced to finance through them because of the dealership. Santander ***?! Driving America? More like driving America to their demise! This company is a scam at best. I didnt realize just how high my interest rate was with them and they REFUSE to refinance. I purchased my vehicle in August of 2023 for about ******. Its almost March 2024. My payoff amount?! ******. I asked them if they would help me sell the vehicle to carmax so I could get them 12k for the vehicle and pay then the difference to avoid a repo on my credit and they refuse. Funny I would only owe about 12k if their interest rate wasnt so high! Im already required to pay $568 a month! Im at a total loss and Im so beyond upset and disappointed that their policies dont care about their consumers! They only care about one thing! MONEY. Do NOT use them. Ever!

2/7/25 I came home to my vehicle gone I called the company they said I had until the 24th of that month to get my vehicle back although I had piled up late fees I still made my regular payments until I was able to pay the late fees off. On 2/21/25 Friday I paid my past due and they sent out the release form that morning they said to call back within 2-6 hours because thats how long it would take for the tow to get the form. I called back in 2 hours and talked to the tow guy he said that he received the form but they were closing in a hour and it would take me a hour to get there so Ill have to wait till Monday. He called back 5 mins later saying a hour ago they took my personal thing out and sent my car to the auction when I called that morning letting them know I paid the money and to release my car. They ram shaked my car taking all of my things out to leave trash and dirt all through my car. Im missing a pair of meta ray band glasses that are $500 . I had to drive 45 mins to get my items from a trash bag and drive another hour to the auction that closes at 2. Monday I took off work thinking everything would be cleared away they took a full day to not give me my car and told me it wont be done till Tuesday. My car was never suppose to go to the auction. They told me it was for storage purposes but yall took my personal things out and trashed my car i will be refinancing this car with a different company i have never been through what i been through with this company. I wish I could put 0 stars

This company will do anything but point you to a clear resolution to your issue. They failed to issue a lien release form over a decade after the vehicle was paid off, and now they are doing everything in their power to send you to a dead end when reaching out to their customer support department. They will give you phone numbers to call that wont be picked up, email addresses to send emails to that will never be acknowledged, and fail to send mail after having promised to send it. This company is negligent and their customer support ******************** are abysmal. Look elsewhere if youre financing any major purchase because they will collect every ***** from you then ignore you when its time to send releases. Do better.

I had a car loan with Santander Consumer USA. I missed car payment because of medical reasons. I contacted them and they were going to work with me. I am 78 years old and disabled. They repossessed my car. I have been unable to purchase another vehicle because they refused to contact credit bureaus and inform them of the repossession. They did not notify of them going to take my car. Someone showed up at me house on a Friday night. It was 22 degrees outside and my driveway was covered in ice. I am also recovering from a **********************.

This is the worst auto loan company *** ever experienced their call center is not US based which makes it very difficult to understand the customerservice reps. **** also lack information that the customer seeks. I am requesting for information on refinancing my vehicle that I have a loan through Santander with was told by customer service. ******************** does not refinance vehicles, which is not true because they do refinance vehicles. Ive been given the runaround consistently and I honestly want out of this loan. I am nowseeking to refinance with a different bank just to get away from Santander and I want an apology and a reason why they would not refinance my which is a 2024 ***** equinox EV

This is my son's first car loan. His sister cosigned for him. He got stuck with a high car note for a 2019 Dodge Charger (As-Is) paying $541 a month for $17,000 with 60 months his sister's credit was a 720 they didnt kniw to ask questions. Since he lost his job, he fell behind on payments. After talking several times to agents, Santander Consumer did not attempt to work with them in reducing the payments for 3/4 of the monthly amount or moving a payment to the end of the loan. Until he can get them caught up. They got screwed on this loan. Santander said it's their policy. Worst company to have an auto loan with. Oh their interest rate is 29%. Robbery. How with $1700 down-payment and a 720 credit score.
