1 starMoneygram kept money from a transfer I canceled. On 7/6/23 I canceled the transaction on the app and received an email stating they refunded the money and it should be in my account in 10 business days. Around the 11th business day I reached out to my bank who said there werent any refunds from MoneyGram to get transaction info, date it was sent, etc. I called MoneyGram inquiring about the status of the refund because it wasn't in my account. The chat representative said he couldn't give me that information to call my bank and just being very shady. I submitted a claim on MoneyGrams website and was sent email on 7/22 saying they would look into it and "approved" refunds would hit within 10business days which was 10 business days ago. 1 starI initiated an international transfer for a deposit to an overseas bank account on 6/20/2023 for $460. When I received email and text confirmation that the transaction was complete and a deposit has been made, I checked the account to find there was no credit as indicated. I informed MoneyGram customer service about this and a case was opened. After several follow *** with customer service, they sent me an email on July 9th that there was an error with the transaction and that I would get a refund of the transaction fee. I was told again a deposit has been made to the account. I checked again to find there is no record of a deposit transaction for the funds in question. At that point I asked MoneyGram for a refund of my money as there is clearly a problem with this transaction. I was flatly told by customer service rep that they would not refund me as a deposit has been made to the account as far as they are concerned. They opened another case and told me they reached out to the receiving bank for a response regarding the missing deposit. It's been well over a month and they claimed to be still waiting for a response. I received my bank states for the June and July and offered MoneyGram to review the statements as evidence that there was no deposit transaction as claimed. **************** continue to read me the same script that the case is still under investigation and they are waiting for response from the receiving bank. I still have not received my funds and MoneyGram continues to give me the run around and reading me boilerplate responses after several phone calls and email messages. I have taken the initiative to report MoneyGram to ************************************* This company deserved every expose for causing willful financial harm to their customers. 1 starJust made a transfer today. When I was going through the receipt and other documents of my transaction I noticed that a tax was being taken. I wondered why a tax was being paid after a fee was already paid by the sender. After that was being paid the amount the receiver would get went down.I called MoneyGram and and asked them why. The lady put me on a hold and came back to tell me that the tax was charged by the receiving country. And I asked: why would you make me pay a fee and accept that a tax is taken again reducing the amount the receiver should get? This is a DOUBLE CHARGE on the transaction. 1 starToday 7/23/23 I used Moneygram for the first time to send money to my brother. Moneygram.com suggested I download the MoneyGram app for easier process. Well it was total misrepresentation! I followed the steps as shown and applicable to my situation. As it turned out I was informed that the transfer went through however my brother was unable to collect the money at a Longs/CVS Drugs in ****** where he lives. We both set up profiles with MoneyGram as recommended but that did nothing. The steps and information for the sender did not stipulate how my brother was to get the money, only that it was associated to his name, mobile phone#, and home address. As told he needed to show the information at Longs to get the money. Meanwhile, the moneygram app on my phone kept saying the $ was ready for my brother to pick up. My brother spoke to employees at the Longs drugs who didn't know how he was to collect the money in the way I sent it using the app. Both my brother and I separately called the "customer service" phone number. My brother couldn't get anyone to help him or walk him through the steps to access the money. I called and ended up speaking to 2 different representatives that said "my brother should call the same number and someone will walk him through the process." Obviously not true at all. The money had been debited from my bank account and both representatives said they would not refund the money immediately (within 2 hours after the transfer was completed) and that I now had to wait 10 days for the refund. ******** (second representative) told me that the transfer went through and for my brother to call the 800 number for "walk through" instructions. 6/13/33 transfer made. E.ail on 6/30/23. Solved unbeknownst to me on 7/2/23. Nobody could tell me that until that malesupervisor ****************** had an issue with a transfer. I had discussed with a nice member of the staff who told me that service has not been completed.to give it a few.days. Today I called at.least 3 tines & fortunately a supervisor guided to what I wanted to do ** he were able to.connext with clients unlike others who sounded like computers instead of people who could connect. My case came to satisfaction.MoneyGram

Will never use this company again!! They are scammers sent money to ********* and money gram stole $227 because they paid the money as they wanted to. If I could give zero stars I would! People go directly through your bank if you can because this company is a scam.MoneyGram

I purchased a ******* Moneygram almost three months ago and cancelled it and requested a refund within an hour on May 18th. I have continuously called and was told several times I will have my refund in up to 10 days. The last three times I called, I was told that it was escalated and I would receive an email within 72 hours. I have not received any emails regarding this escalation. They refuse to allow me to speak with anyone who knows what's going on, I need to speak with a legal team, possibly the one that settled the class action suit regarding fraud. I need someone to point me in the right direction. The fact that a million-dollar company refuses to release $75 is ridiculous. If ******* Moneygram responds to the posting, please do not tell me to contact customer service unless my refund has been resolved. I have done that the past three months.MoneyGram

I'll readily admit I am a a novice at money orders and wiring money,.I found the process of using Moneygram online (referred to from ********* web site) as nearly impossible to navigate. They put my original transaction on "hold", but didn't inform me of that until after I called the next day to find out why the money hadn't been received.It finally went through, and due to an error on my part - needed to be cancelled and corrected.I was told it would take up to 10 days to investigate and correct the problem.I couldn't wait 10 days, so the recipient and I both set up new Zelle accounts (flawlessly and nearly instantly) and completed the transaction within an hour.2 weeks later, I checked my credit card account and saw the ******************** charge but no credit.I couldn't go online, because my on-line account had been cancelled, so I called. The automated attendant told me the money had been refunded. So, I asked for a live person to find out when it had been refunded and when to expect to be credited.While on the phone with the live person I got the email saying the transaction had been cancelled and to expect my credit in 10 days. By then, they will have had the use of my money for a month, and if I hadn't called - how much longer might they have kept it? Indefinitely?MoneyGram

Sent money after being told that it would be available in a few hours, was never told during the process that it would take 1 to 4 business days instead. Money was needed urgently. Tried to cancel, no luck. Tried to file a complaint, no luck. Won't use this service again. Misleading only to take your money plus their commission.MoneyGram
