This morning I had an email from Active Advantage saying that they'd renewed a membership that I never signed up for. I emailed back right away and didn't receive a response; based on other complaints here I don't anticipate one. I don't recognize this vendor and never agreed to any kind of membership with them. I would like a full refund for the $89.95 I was erroneously charged and for them to delete any information of mine that is in their system. I would also like to know how they got my information in the first place.Business Response

I have reviewed the business response and accept this resolution. However, I do think that legislation needs to be implemented to stop the use of "hidden" autorenew memberships as it is a predatory business practice.Initial Complaint

I subscribed for a year subscription for a sports team service but the software is always broken, the IT never responds, and or never makes updates or fixes. They charge $300 for a yearly service and the service has not fulfilled the job described. I've had an account with them for a few seasons and the service has gotten worse as time has gone on. The system is very outdated, and a lot of times freezes while trying to navigate and work on it. Multiple issues when trying to communicate with team members, or even a simple schedule change can make the whole system go haywire. Every time I contact them they would look into what ever the issues was and say they couldn't find anything wrong. The system is very outdated and very buggy.Business Response

Clearly Active Networks is a scam subscription company that hides their "subscription" in some web site purchase. They make it impossible to reach anyone by phone and expect you to email them to resolve their seemingly uncancelable subscription. Amazing - it's so easy to "opt in" you never knew you did. On November 14, 2022 I registered for a *********** 1/2 Marathon Race. They se Activeworks Endurance to accepts payments. That payment went through fine for $108.58. Then on December 14, 2022 I was charged by Activeworks Endurance $89.95. I have not signed up for any additional events and I cannot find a receipt email for this charge. I tried contacted the phone number listed on my credit card bill and it goes dead. Then I looked up a customer service number and there is a voicemail saying they do not have enough employees to answer the calls because of *****. There also was not a way to leave a message. When trying to email the company it only have a form for event directors and not customer complaints. Because I just noticed this charge while reconciling my credit card American Express says that it is too long since the charge to dispute it. I have not way contacting the company or getting my money back.Customer Answer

The say they are issuing me a refund and that I had signed up for a membership. I do not have any receipts or communications regarding that. I would like to keep the complanit open until I see the refunded posted, but as for now it seems to be moving in the right direction.

I have never signed up for any such membership, never heard of it, never signed up for any free trials related to Active Network or any other fitness-related companies for that matter. I don't even have an account with them. I don't know how they got my credit card information, but they charged me $89.95 on 4/16/2023 without my authorization. I am VERY careful to not authorize charges to my card and haven't signed up for a free trial of anything in years. Their practices are clearly fraudulent, and I would like a refund for this charge. I also would like confirmation that the Active Network has wiped my personal and financial information so they can no longer access it, and I strongly urge you at the Better Business Bureau to investigate their practices and take the appropriate actions as I suspect they are operating under illegal practices.Business Response
