Campus Box Media/Spirit Stop asked me to sponsor my local high schools football team as a local general contractor. I paid hundreds of dollars for shirts to be handed out at football games as well as other promotional promises. I was then contacted again to sponsor the breast cancer awareness games and said that my second payment would be donated to breast cancer awareness. Again, I was promised special pink shirts to be handed out during a specific football game this season and also advertising etc. Both of my daughters, my wife and I have gone to every game and there wasnt a single shirt in sight. No one has heard about it. I am asking for my money back or I will be speaking to my legal council and pursuing in court for not only the amount I paid for services not rendered, but all legal fees and damages.Business Response

Customer# ********* On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, we were approached via phone by ***** **********, a sales associate from Campus Box, regarding a sponsorship and advertising opportunity with **********************. After discussing it, my husband and I agreed that supporting our local school sports team would be a great way to promote our new business, which is less than a year old. We opted for the premium package that included t-shirts, coupon flyers, and geo-location advertising, along with an extra charge for colored shirts instead of standard white ones. ***** was very accommodating and promptly prepared our package, processing our payment of $1,798.97. She assured us that someone would contact us the next day to finalize our logo for the T-shirts and coupon flyers. However, the following day passed without any communication from the company, and we did not receive any updates until September 27, when we finally received the proof. It is important to note that we had not been consulted regarding the logo prior to this. I had been attempting to reach the company with several questions that soon turned into concerns. I sent emails to customer service on September 24, 26, and 30 and left voicemails each time. I also requested ******, who sent us the proofs, have customer service contact me. She did forward my request, as I received an email from ******** ****** on October 2. I promptly replied, asking for a phone call from customer service and followed up with another email on October 8. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive any response, either by phone or email. Given the complete lack of customer service and disregard for their clients, I am now requesting a full refund. It feels as though they have taken our money and disappeared. Campus Media called me in spring 2024 to ask if I wanted them to make marketing supplies for me to have them used as give aways at the ***********************. They sent me a sample of a water bottle with my logo. I said great. I get a phone call from *********************** Booster saying they do not work with Campus Box, they are scamming local businesses to pay them money and no one ever sees the marketing product they promise. They said they were calling all the businesses who said they got a call from them and did business with them. They put through 2 charges in the spring. I called them in August, emailed them in August and have continued to call and email and I am not able to get a person. They just charged me again yesterday. I have my credit card disputing all the charges, but I am not sure I will be able to get it all back. They are a terrible scamming company. A local construction company said they scammed them for 5 years and they are suing them.Customer Answer

I have disputed the other charges with my credit card company and should be reimbursed for the other 2 charged of that same amount. CampusBox reached out to us stating they were working with ************************ for sponsorships. We proudly agreed to sponsor and paid for the package. However, After visiting games at ************ we quickly realized that nothing we had paid for was being honored. SO having the principle as a personal friend we reach out and asked why this wasn't being done. To Cypress surprise they knew nothing of such agreement with CampusBox. We have requested to speak to someone in management to avail. We have requested the contact name and information of who they spoke with at Cypress High and to this date have no solution to this issue. Cypress did receive the bottles but nothing else nor has anyone from campus box been in contact with Cypress High. Due to the misunderstanding between our office and Ms. ****** ******, we have tracked the items that were shipped to the high school, and they were delivered on 8/14/2024 at 11:34am. Campus Box Media contacts the *********** for approval prior to contacting the community and they understand what they are supposed to do with all the items that are sent to them. I have attached the tracking detail for your items that was shipped to the high school. The school advised "items where Distribution was done during football games. Basketball will be soon starting; PA was done Usually during timeouts half time." Advised customer.
We have always tried to maintain a clear line of communication between the schools we represent and our customers, however, sometimes the line of communication is misinterpreted between our sales staff and the customer.

Date:05/08/24 Payment Amount: $1049.99 I was contacted by this company to help sponsor our local football team. After multiple calls I decided on a package and paid them $1049.99 for things such as banners, announcements, cups, tickets, etc. I received a package shortly after showing what I will see at the game. A few months later football season started. I showed up in hopes to see my business on the board and tickets. Come to found out none of that was there and my business was no where to be seen or heard at the field. Im very disappointed and this is a huge scam. Its sad that companys do this. *** contacted them about this matter and they wont take any of my calls and have my phone blocked. I emailed them to give them a chance to refund me but I havent heard anything from them. I didnt want to do this, but I will be taking legal action against this company to get my money back and also in hopes of having this company shut down. What they are doing is not okay. We reached out to Ms. **** in regard to her concerns on the school not receiving the items and not being distributed. We contacted the person that we originally setup with Ms. ******** she informed me that she is not the cheer coach any longer,but she is over the spirit team now. We asked her if she could investigate the sport bottles for Sanctuary Security and see if she could find them. She emailed me and let me know she did find them and that she would start distributing them at the next football (Aledo) game and said she would send pictures so Ms. **** could see them being distributed at the games
******* items (Bottles and Coupons) were delivered to the school on 8/12/2024 and delivered to the front desk at the high school. (I have attached the tracking information for her order as well as the **************** for the season). The school received her items and we emailed proof of execution for the digital impressions marketing her firm (i.e.), the seasonal summary stats for the football season), the company has fulfilled their obligation, ******* received marketing impressions in the community, and thus, we will not be issuing a refund.

I am rejecting this response because: This company is a scam. Since my original complaint I have learned more and more about how much of a scam it is. I have had continued conversation with my school they have no relationship with this company. They pretend to represent the school then only if they get caught mail out the water bottles. The ones they mention that where thrown out at the Aledo game is a lie. In addition they are not social media shout outs as agreed (the only social media shoutout was my school warning the community about campus box office) There are not banners as they advertised and the biggest most important thing is I was told this would go to the school to support the kids the biggest lie of them all.Initial Complaint

This company is advertising to the surrounding community and soliciting donations in the school's name. However, they NEVER give the "sponsorships" or "donations" to the school. They are taking money from community members and making promises that the school will advertise to the community about the paid sponsorships, but the business does not have permission to do so. 5/7/2024 I was contacted by a *****, claiming she was ***resenting **********************, our local HS and offered a Sports sponsorship package. We recently started a small business and like to help our community, so we agreed. We made the first payment of $575.97 on 5/17 which was to be billed quarterly. First, we received an invoice claiming we had to pay the remaining $2k+ before anything could be done. When I attempted calling *****, the call would not go through. A design *** named ****** reached out regarding our logo so I took the opportunity to ask what was going on. I mentioned ***** with the school and ****** corrected me, said she is with Campus Box Media. This surprised me as ***** 100% said she was WITH Winnetonka. I disregarded it as a miscommunication, ****** said shed made a mistake and as ***** was her supervisor, she would fix the invoice. I didnt receive a corrected invoice and tried calling all 7 phone numbers I have for Campus Box Media - NONE would go through, they all play a recording stating Thanks for the call. Configure your numbers voice URL to complete this call. Let us know if we can help you in any way during your development in a watery, distorted voice. I completely put it out of my mind, thinking surely someone would call back. No one did. My second payment scheduled for 8/15/24 did not go through as I had to get a new card after fraud ($98 in DoorDash, $178 for photog equipment, & $74 for something called ************ all conveniently spent 5/20, THREE DAYS after I paid this company), so I tried calling them again. Same ****************** ph # is disconnected. I called the school - the school AND the district have no record of dealing with Campus Box and had no idea what I was talking about. This company should be shut down for defrauding the backbone of America - small businesses. March of this year , ***** ***** called me from Campus Box LLC about our Dairy Queen buying their football season advertising package. I understood we would be exclusive to this advertising. I asked if we were the only ones and she said yes. I don't remember my exact words but that was my understanding. Her sales pitch had me believing we were the ONLY ones. However, upon talking with the billing department when they called to get the next payment they said some things that didn't ring true. I questioned them further and found that they had several advertisers and one of them was ********** I called for ***** because this was NOT what she said would happen. She denied saying we were exclusive but if my memory and the memory of our bookkeeper who heard the whole conversation she used that very word. Nevertheless, she implied we would be exclusive. I said i wanted our money back since we were not told the truth. at this point i called and left messages 7 times with no response. Only when I threatened to call the BBB did they call me back. Finally someone said i could have a refund. It took a long time but when they did refund it was not for the full amount. I paid them a total of $575.00 and they refunded $459.98. I want a full refund. Therefore, they still owe $115.02.Business Response

Our review process includes listening to the recorded sales calls, and it did not say anything about exclusivity. At the time of the refund was requested we had already started processing the order and we had incurred cost on creating custom artwork and other processing cost. For that reason, we are unable to give a full refund and felt that 80%refund was fair amount considering the cost that we incur.

I am rejecting this response because:
Spirit shop stated in their response to BBB they received the complaint 11/1/2024. BBB sent the complaint in July 2024. That in itself should explain my complaint. My original complaint stands. I was mislead and lied to about their advertising product. Their practice of getting the customer and the money by saying what needs to be said is what cost them the deal. Any expense incurred is on them because of their misleading sales pitch. I want 100% refund.
I do not hold out hope for their practices to change based on all the previous complaints. I should have investigated them before agreeing to anything!
