I never faced this problem in almost several years in any apartment as no one never delayed any problem like this before. I am feeling sad to even say that I am living in this apartment for almost 5 years by now.My apartment old lease ended on 09/2023. In the next renewal, leasing office staff couldn't fix an exited occupant problem in time and forced me to go month-to-month from 10/2023 to till date. Which means instead of paying $1500+ a month we were forced to pay $2800+ amount. During this work, they made me visit their office several times and promised me that the renewal problem will be fixed easily but nothing was fixed even until now. Along with regular visits, I also sent multiple(10+) emails requesting to fix the renewal problem. When it comes to payments, even thought I want to pay atleast real rent amount, in their website they never allowed me to pay partial payments, which means I cannot even pay correct amounts I should be paying if this problem was not there. Finally, In total instead of me having to pay total amount of $6000+ they are making me pay more than double this amount. On top of all this, they created lot of mental stress and time waste when I visited them for almost 12+ times and in several calls without finding any solution. I felt they don't have right staff to fix this problem in time and caused the delay and finally made tenant responsible for this.Initial Complaint

2 days ago and today is February 2nd I paid a $185 to this residential company. I'm 100% disabled. This is food money for me Fur at least 3 weeks. I filled out an application. I'm trying to move closer to *******. To be with my dying parents. I am 50 years old. They are in their 80s. And these people will not refund my money. When I filled out that application. It had a drop down menu for minimum rent. It started at 400 I put for minimum rent $400. Maximum rent 600 now they're telling me that that's not true, which it absolutely hand to God true. I would never have paid a $185. They told me the rent started at 893. And they're calling me a liar. And I need my money back immediately to feed myself. I have an uncurable stomach disease and I am wasting away at 90 pounds. I need help immediately. I need my money back immediately. These people scammed from the beginning. I only make $1800 a month. How can I afford $900 in rent? They have my financials. They have my bank statements and something. Immediate action needs to be taken. And I left a message with the Attorney General of *************** as well.Initial Complaint

On January 20th, 2024 I was scheduled to move into an apartment at "****************** Apartments" in ************************************** (they are run by Landmark). Upon inspection of the apartment, it was clear that they have a ***** infestation problem. They had roaches crawling up the walls and the roof all within the first 20 minutes, there was a very distinct smell of mold. There was debris on the tracks of the sliding doors which did not open correctly either. The A/C unit was utterly disgusting, there were mold and water stains and it looked like it had not been serviced in a very long time. Ultimately, the place was supposed to have been ready for me to move in, but it was clearly not habitable without exposing me to serious health risks. They were extremely predatory in getting me to shell out all the money to move in and assured me the unit would be in ready move-in conditions by the 13th. That didn't happen and was then postponed to January 20. Until that very morning, I was not shown the apartment, instead, I was toured a model unit which of course was the complete opposite of the unit they were renting to me. Living in affordable housing does not mean having to deal with mold and cockroach infestations. My aunt luckily was with me and took pictures of the roaches and the ** unit. Furthermore, the rental agent *********************, was quick to return the money order for the move-in fees, because my aunt was there and pointed everything out and said she had proof of it all. However, she refused to refund my $400.00 deposit even after I explained that this was not a sanitary or habitable unit. There was trash overflowing everywhere, and a water heater in front of the building that looked like it had been there for months. In essence, they scam people who are looking for a safe and affordable place to live!Initial Complaint

I sent a demand letter to the office via mail for Pest control issue/ ***** infestation in my apartment, primarily in my oven. They have tried to remedy the situation by giving my apartment a treatment but I still see Roaches DAILY and there's possibly a colony of Roaches inside my oven. I clearly see Roaches in the clock of my oven every day. This has become an health issue for me and my visitors. My aunt in particular has lupus and she cannot even visit me because of the health issues the dander the Roaches leave behind. This has ruined my experience as a resident ***************.Initial Complaint

In early November, I applied for an apartment in Residences of ****************. After several attempts to send the $200 Administration fee (150 adm and 50 application fee) I was told to drop off a money order. When I dropped of the money order, I was told that they don't accept money orders and that I needed a cashiers check. I left and returned about an our later with a cashiers check for $200.When I had taken the tour, the weekend before, I was told that the application fee was non refundable but that the administration fee would be returned if I didn't qualify for the apartment. I completed the application and several days past and I hadn't heard anything. I called and left several messages. When my call was finally returned, there was a problem with verifying my Spousal support. I explained that my husband sent it to my PayPal account. When I sent copies, I was told it couldn't be accepted. I was told to send the payments in Pdf format. I sent it 3 times and each time it couldn't be accepted. I had 3 different people send it and it was denied each time. They have denied my application and refused to refund the adm.fee.Initial Complaint

On Thursday, 10/05/2023 I had called ************ resident services multiple times about visitor parking. The phone service line would cut out and I was unable to leave a message, so I had sent a written message over the resident portal website. I had called again for the following days regarding this issue and had included in the message the urgency of this matter. My visitor is active military and if his vehicle is taken when he needs to return, and he does not show up, he will be arrested It took days of calling and messaging, without response, and his vehicle was towed. I have not been able to go into the services building as I am a full time student and work outside school hours. Their business has no 24 hour courtesy, and it has taken them 3 days to respond to my call. I have included the cost and recipe of the towing company.Initial Complaint

The Catalina ********************** leasing company has charged me $552.50 in damages that were claimed in bad faith. I have photo evidence of the clean apartment that I did not damage. I am not paying for full paint since I did not damage the paint. I am not paying for clean fees since I left the apartment very clean. The bathtub was also in bad condition when I originally moved in, and I cleaned it to the best of my ability. I do not believe it is fair for me to pay for bathtub resurfacing either. I have attempted to contact the manager in-person, via email, and by phone, with no response. The assistant manager claims she cannot help, but refuses to provide information about when her manager will be available.
