Absolutely worst airline experience Ive ever had. Had family from other cities meeting ** in ******. Good news for them is everything went well and they arrived on time. Unfortunately, our experience was much the opposite. We got to airport at 6 for our 8am flight only to find out at **************************************************************************** ***. Since *************** came out, our flight has been delayed to 4, then 8 and now we are looking at leaving at 9pm. If that flight is on time, we will have been at the airport for 16 hours or so.not exactly the once in a lifetime Hawaiian vacation we had planned. On top of that the service weve received is mediocre at best (and thats being generous). We were offered meal vouchers which should cover lunch but we are on our own for dinner. And weve been told AA will put us ** in a hotel. Ill update my review with results. Thanks AA for ruining our trip. Never again.American Airlines

To whom it may concern-I purchased airline tickets from American Airlines in June 2020 for my girlfriend, my father and myself. Due to the rise of Covid-19, we were not able go on our trip due to ********* quarantine mandate at the time. I requested a refund but my request was denied. However, my sister, her boyfriend and my brother were all able to receive a full refund but my tickets were transferred to flight credit. As a result, we had planned to use the credit that was issued to us for a trip scheduled for February 2022, but we were unable to go because we contracted Covid-19. When I had initially spoken to American Airlines regarding the February 2022 trip, I had inquired about airlines COVID cancellation policy as a precaution. We were informed by a customer representative named Silvie who stated that we would be receiving the original and fill value in credits of $410.00 for each ticket in the event if those in your travel party contracted COVID. We were also informed that we would have a year to utilize this credit. Somewhere between February *************************************************************** which brings me to my current situation. Now that I am trying to use these credits again, American Airlines stated that we have insufficient credit and would need to pay the difference. What we had learned was that our total amount of credits were divided up into travel and flight credits. Additionally, we were now informed that we would have only 6 months to use the credit versus a year (per Silvie) We were not informed of this policy even when we had taken the time to call the airlines as a precaution. Their attempt to explain their rationale was presented in such a convoluted and unintelligible manner. Additionally, I was placed on hold close to a dozen times during a span of a grueling three hour phone call that presented zero results. As a result, we were left with no choice but to escalate this matter and report this to the BBB.American Airlines

I just got off the phone with a customer service gentleman from ********************** who stated he cannot find our trip credits or last names in the system. Contrary to what he was reporting, I do have confirmation emails stating that I have trip and flight credits. He then redirected me to call American Airlines again since he was unable to fulfill my request. But I will not call them again unless I can speak with someone who can fulfill their job requirements. I feel as though each Customer Relations representative should be capable and competent enough to do their job. It is very disheartening to know that through these difficult times, American Airlines is making it so much more difficult for customers such as myself to either receive a full refund or the total value of the credits versus having our total amount of credit be split into trip credit or flight credit.Review fromKelsie M

If I could give this airline 0 stars, I would. I have never been so disrespected by an airline. Our flight, booked two months ago, was supposed to take off from ORF on July 28th at ****. We sat on the tarmac for TWO HOURS before they deboarded us and kept delaying. One hour, two hours, TWENTY FOUR HOURS LATER, I'm writing this from yet another plane, at a different ************, that was supposed to take off at ****. Delayed. Delayed. Delayed. I was supposed to take a 6 hour trip from ORF to *** to ***. it's now a THREE DAY TRIP from RIC to *** (overnight) to *** (MAYBE customer service couldn't even get us another flight tomorrow. We have to wait until we get to ****** to even find out when we'll get to ***. I will never, NEVER fly American again if I can help it. They gave us a meal voucher for the airport that wouldn't even cover half of one meal in an airport AND only paid for us to get halfway to RIC. Awful, awful airline. We were booked on a flight to ********* for an ******* Cruise. We arrived at the airport about ***** min prior to takeoff. The clerk at the counter was very rude and said that we could not board because we were too late. We were then told that we were supposed to be at the airport 2 hours because it was an International flight. We were never told that by the airline,Princess Cruises or the travel agency. We were told it was on the website.I spent 30min looking on their website later on and the only thing I found was a recommendation to be at the airport 3 hrs ahead of time. The clerk was not interested in helping us at all and neither was the travel agency. Another woman came up to the counter with a question and instead of helping us, spent 15 minutes answering her question. If I knew I needed to be at the airport 2 hours prior, we would have been. Our airport is a smaller airport and you can get thru check-in, thru TSA check and get to boarding in no longer than ******************************************************** plenty of time. We ended up have to purchase 2 more tickets and leave from ********* in order to get to cruise on time. This meant we had to spend the night in the airport. I could get no satisfaction from American Airlines after the fact. I send an email and received a reply that basically said too bad! After writing again, I did get a response saying the would put **** miles in our account. Sorry not enough. Got a phone call after that, I returned the call but no response from that even tho I left my name and phone number. I dont fly much but I will never fly American again. I flew Delta back and they were wonderful. Normally just fly Allegiant to ******* and they too are great.American Airlines

American Airlines is literally the worst airline I ever use. This is about the 5th time I've HAD to use them and almost every flight (most of mine have had a connecting flight) is delayed. Even as I sit here making this review, I've been sitting here at the gate for over an hour for a 22 minute flight.My parents were supposed to go to a graduation from TX to VA, and they waited in ******* while AA once again delayed their flight for over 8 hours before telling THEM to call and make sure a connecting flight would be available. Then, they tried to put them on a flight at 10:00 p.m. (around 12 hours after their original flight) to a different connecting city where they would have to stay the night and get on a 1 hour, 7 a.m. flight the next day. Graduation was at 8. Did AA reimburse them for their tickets? Sure. Their hotel that they'd already paid for? Sure. Did they offer them any kind of voucher or additional monies for the wasted day, travel, and missing a graduation? Nah. Wouldn't dream of it.Who knows, maybe if i get off the plane and start walking now, I could beat the plane to my destination. Worst airline ever.American Airlines

I flew from *********, ** to *************. I paid extra for our seats. AA unassigned my seat and kept my husband's and son's seat. They refused to give me my seat back because someone had already purchased it. They were no help at all and I was not refunded my money for the extra legroom seat.American Airlines

AA cancel my flight 5 hours before and put me on a next flight next day with a big over lap in the airport . Reaching my destination 11 pm the next day when I originally supposed to reach 2:30 pm . I got an email stating my connecting flight still went to ************* the same day but the Flight out of ** was cancel . They didnt give me an option and said they cant do anything at all not even update me me to business class cause if there error . Im missing 1 fill day of my vacation cause of crew unavailability. I will never in my life be recommending anyone to AA . There rude nasty unprofessional and simply dont care at all . How can you cancel someone flight few hours b4 out of ** .American Airlines

The experience with the airline was horrible. I lost a complete day on my departure flight, and when I was coming back, I lost another day. When I asked for help at the airport at the ** office, it was denied and made me wait for 10 hours at the airport. They mistreated me and were very disrespectful. I was told I would receive a reimbursement and it has been more than six months since I submitted my reimbursement, and I have not heard back from them. I would never ever fly with them again. I don't recommend this airline at all!!American Airlines

American Airlines is the worst Airline to fly with. I would even pick Frontier over American. EVERY SINGLE FLIGHT for the past three months that my husband has been on has been delayed or canceled. Whatever the issue is with your pilots and staffing? Fix it. Prices are sky high. No American Airlines employer he had come in contact with is will to switch flights to get him home or accommodate any inconvenience. Furthermore, the attendant at the gates are rude and have zero empathy. American Airlines is nothing like what it was five years ago. There's rumor about inconsistent pay with pilots... pay them and stop messing up everyone's work and leisure travel. Terrible service. Inconsistent. Unreliable.American Airlines

I was trying to book a flight online with American Airlines. I had my flight picked out, my information was in and I was trying to select my seat for the second flight when the screen froze. Then a pop up saying I needed to go back to the home screen and re-enter my information popped up on the screen. I went back to the homepage and the flight was then 50 dollars more in the matter of 10 minutes. I called the help line to see if I could get the initial price and they told me there was nothing they could do. I think its pretty shameful that they didnt honor the initial price and me proceeding to enter my information was not enough to lock the price in. It felt as though they almost do this to make a quick 50 bucks anticipating that youve already committed to the flight. Unfortunately because the other people in my party chose that flight I had to pay the more expensive price. After this I will do everything I can to avoid flying American in the future, I cant remember the last time I had a good experience flying with them and this was the straw that finally broke the camels back. Im and aa member too which feels more and more like a joke the more flights I take with them.American Airlines
