Purchase a ticket as an emergency dont need it. Filed for a refund less than 20 minutes later and told since its in the 48 hour window cannot be refunded. Tried to use credit for someone else to fly. Got told cant do that. Was also hung up on by their customer service representative. Terrible experience with their airline, and will never ever recommend them to anybody. Worst customer service Ive ever seen in my lifeAmerican Airlines

If I could score a zero, I would. I had to make an emergency trip to my terminally ill family member, and from the time I left to the current time I'm stranded in a ******* Airport... it has been one of the most traumatic experiences of my life and I've been through it!!! Two flights... first one is repeatedly delayed delayed delayed ... excuses after excuse, finally get on the plane and we still sit for 2 hrs waiting to leave!! Finally make it to ******* with an "were sorry" go to my next gate.... gate gets changed SEVERAL TIMES... then they say its delayed... then it gets CANCELLED.. so they move us to the next flight.... same issue. Delayed no reason. Delayed no reason. cancelled!!! One flight left and "its full." How convenient! How the h*** do 2 flights get cancelled but yet another one gets in the air and were not on it! My only offering is either the next day at 545 pm or fly to a destination several hours away from where I am going with no way to get to my destination once the plane lands. No reasoning, no explanations but ******** excuses and I'm sorries. Shut your s*** down because this is the most irresponsible pathetic excuse for an airline I have ever experienced IN MY ENTIRE 36 YEARS!!!! what a joke and yet I'm expected to pay **** for it!??! Not a f***** chance!!!!American Airlines

I purchased three tickets for myself and my two children from *** to CMH for 7/24/2022. The flight was about 20 mins in when we were told we were doing an emergency landing back to *** due to the plane hitting a flock of birds. We were told after a short inspection we would be back in flight in approximately 25mins. We were then told the plane was taken out of service and we needed to catch another flight that was boarding in 30 mins in the opposite side of the airport. After ******* through the airport and catching a skylink to ensure we made the boarding time we were again told there would be another delay. After another hour we were told that the crew was tired and another crew was on the way and would be there shortly to get us to our destination. I myself am 8 months pregnant and have been put on and off the plane, rushed through the airport for a flight that wasnt leaving, and misinformed multiple times about when we would leave. The next crew did not show up for about two hours even though we were told they were in route. Finally we were out back on the plane believing we would leave after about an hour and a half sitting on the plane in ***** on a day where it was 100 degrees we were Told we needed to again get off the plane and that we would not be leaving. While sitting on the plane a asked if I could please have ice since it was extremely had and I was dehydrated. I was not even given the curtesy of ice to stay hydrated. We were again told they needed another crew to come. The second crew left as the customers sat in the airport struggling to make plans without accurate information all day of timing. By this time the staff would not even answer any questions regarding time of the flight since they said they had given misleading information all day and they themselves did not know what was really accurate. Customer relations has not been helpful at all with my request for a refund. And have since not responded to any of my refund requestsAmerican Airlines

American Airlines has bad customer service. We were supposed to fly into ********* then to ******. They checked us in took our luggage and told us thee plane was on time. Then they told us that the flight got delayed 2 times then told us that we are not flying today. I started my vacation today, spoke to customer service will not reimburse us for the day they cancel on us the day that we lost on all inclusive resorts. Never again with American Airlines. They have no sense of ****************American Airlines

1 starI've never experienced such rude responses to valid concerns. We were told that we need to check our baggage at the gate, which I can understand for space purposes, but when asking questions about it I was told to "just leave the bag and get on the plane." And there was an utter refusal to consider gate checking (common practice for any airline) because we aren't first class. Therefore, because we didn't pay the most money, we don't deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. It makes me consider whether I will ever fly American ever again if these are your policies.Review fromMichael B

Never fly with American Airlines. Im a patient guy* but I have limits. On Tuesday when my flight was delayed and we missed our connecting flight and put on a flight from a different city than our own and sent to a city that was not out destinations and stayed the nite and Ubered to our *********************) was okay. Then I tried to leave *******. After I arrived at the airport my flight (****) was cancelled. But there was a flight to Charlotte * when I was going on the tarmac. So we got in line to talk with the gate agents about getting on that flight. There were people getting on that plane in back of us in line. They kicked us out of line out those people on the plane and closed the doors. The plane which was less than 1/2 full took off leaving us and about ten others stranded. I can say this with 100 % certainty because I asked if the plane was full. I was told no and that the flight was closed because that the plane was on the ground too long and they needed to get it in the air. Translation: AA wanted to meet its on time goals rather than get its customers where they needed to get to. They refused to help us with accommodations for the night. I spent 60 minutes on hold to be told they cant help me and are blaming it on the weather. It wasnt weather. They chose not to put us on the plane that boarded and took off in front of us. Its despicable. Im stranded in ******* and will lose business revenue tomorrow as a result.American Airlines

On July 28th 2022 I flew in from **** to return home to ****** **. Long story short my bag has was damaged after waiting over an hour to get it. With that being said I had to go to American Airlines office with in the **** I was told by a representative that I would need to call the number *********** to handle the items that were destroyed with in my bad. This has not been the case. I have not been able to get in contact with anyone. I have tried to get in contact with American Airlines to help me with my destroyed items for over a week now and I have had no luck. I have called sent tweets submitted feedback via surveys with my number and I had no luck. I feel like this is super unprofessional and i also feel like my time is not being valued the items that were broken can not be replaced because these items are rare I need to talk to some one asap.Thanks, ***************************American Airlines

I flew from ***** to ********* on 7/30. I woke up at 4am to find out my flight was canceled and I was put on a flight leaving ***** at 10pm. I changed the flight to go to ****** and leave earlier. When I arrived to the airport I found that my bags were not paid for this flight and I had pre-paid my bags for the flight that was canceled, I had also bought my seats on the original flight and didn't receive the seats on the new flight. I ended up going to ********* **, which was the biggest mistake of my life. They changed our gate 10 mins before the flight, than when it was time to board there was no crew. They gave us a piolet who was close to his time out time, as well as a flight attendant who was close to her time out time. We sat on the fight for a long time waiting and they canceled the fight due to weather. There was two other flights going to ********* and they changed my flight to the next morning. I stood in line to see if I could get a voucher for hotel, taxi or anything. I was given nothing, however the women next to me was given all of the above by another agent. I am still owed money for my seats, and I got lucky that the ********* flight wasn't full and I was able to go home. When I received my luggage my strap was broken on my bag and my suitcase was gone through because the zippers was out of the lock and not where I left it. I was not offered anything for this inconvenience except a bunch of sorry and in ********* I was met with only attitude. I will never fly AA again, it has gone to **** in a hand basket. I have requested a refund for my seats, but I feel I need much more for the way we were treated by the staff in ********* **. The discrimination was real.American Airlines

They provide a flight credit, but of course the flight I chose is not available due to a policy that is not listed anywhere! It cost an extra $150 because my credit couldnt be used towards a basic fare which wasnt listed anywhere in the ***** I had available to me. This will be the last time hopefully I have to travel with American and plan on cancelling my AA card of 6+ years once all my miles are used. I understand flights getting cancelled due to operational issues, weather, pilots illness, etc. but having gaps in your customer facing policies and not even considering waiving the required higher American fees is unreasonableAmerican Airlines

This company is horrible. Steals thousands of peoples money by offering them a service and about 80% of the time does not deliver the service or provide flights to peoples destinations. I've spent days reading bad review after bad review and people's horrible experiences. They also do not care that they steal people's money and do not care they have horrible customer service. They are really effecting a lot people's lives negatively. People/companies need to be aware of this and make changes to not let AA abuse the public anymore.American Airlines
