Delayed flight 8 hours bc of mechanics issue. Called (bc Id miss connecting flight) and they said the only other flight would be overnight layover. I found a flight on United that would get me there same day. But could not transfer tickets to another airline bc they did have a flight less than 24 hours , albeit overnight and close to 20 hours. Also couldnt tell me the refund amount until I asked to be escalated. The refund amount would be less than me buying the united flight and they wouldnt grant the refund until after I flew + it wouldnt be guaranteed. Told me at first the United flight, leaving in 3 hours, might be sold out then said it absolutely was, which was maybe true (do they have insider view into other airline? I was still seeing it listed on ****** flights). After hanging up to think, I received an email that my connecting flight was rescheduled to another flight that was NOT overnight. Well see if that one is delayed or why there was a discrepancy between info they gave and info from email. I also called to verify the new connecting flight. Basically, AA wasnt going to do everything possible to make sure I got what I paid for which was to arrive before 1pm. ******** customer service.

Update: I used this flight credit to buy an AA flight for my sister. They cancelled her ticket because someone else with a similar name chatted in to cancel theirs. She arrived at the airport to find this out. I had to spend 50 mins on the phone (I work hourly and had to sign off of work) for them to book her another flight the next day. She missed a day of work and vacation and had to spend $60 on an ***** They sent her a $75 flight credit when 1) that is not equal to the amount of money we've both lost because of their incompetence 2) I am tied to AA in order to benefit from this "compensation" even though they have proven to be an unreliable airline. A representative called me to justify the $75 flight credit and when I asked to speak to a supervisor they hung up on me.

I am a military spouse. I checked their policy online. It said that I have up to three bags 50 pounds each if Im travelling on business or pleasure. No orders needed.I called the airline office the night before travelling they confirm that. when I went to the airport the next morning they didnt wanna honour that policy and they were really really nasty evil something definitely wrong with them. they basically dont give a c*** about good customer service. I read the policy to them more than one time they didnt wanna listen and I had to pay to get on the plane. This bad experience with this airline makes me promise. I will never ever ever travel again using this airline ever if they offer me a free ticket, Im going to turn it down.. what a shame. Truly, I dont know how can these stay in business like that

Very financially conscious business when it comes to their finances; when it comes to yours, you can forget about meeting in the middle. I was travelling with my family and AA re-booked 5 Sunday flights (myself and my family) for a Monday without any consultation prior to the Sunday flight cancellation. I re-booked Sunday flights at 3:00am on the Sunday of cancellation (because I could not miss work) with AA at another airport 40 minutes away. I cancelled the flights that AA re-booked on my behalf for Monday and the difference was approximately $350. I asked that AA reimburse that amount and they refused. Per their policy, if I would have stayed at a hotel and took their Monday flight, they would have reimbursed hotel expenses and provided meal vouchers but since I found a way home on my own, they claim to have no responsibility. Clearly not concerned for my employment, my spouses employment, or my family, just very straight forward, no, we will not cover it. Their internal policy is that the individual declining the reimbursement will never speak with you, only another representative which makes decision making on their end very simple; there is no one to answer for the decisions made. I have reached back out to AA for follow-up and they will not return my emails. This organization is an embarrassment to to the work "American" and they are far from concerned about their customers, only for their bottom line. Note that the total trip expense for this adventure (visiting my grandmother on hospice during the days that the passed away) was approximately $3000 and still with no consideration for reimbursement, only flight credit which I would never use again given this experience. **************** with AA to discuss these changes at this time were approximately 1-2 hours so I didn't even have the option to speak with them before making the flight changes on my own. I am beyond disappointed with American Airlines and would not recommend flying with them.

We sat on the plane on the tarmac for 2 hours and 58 minutes while the crew of the aircraft made excuses for why we couldn't take off. One of the excuses was that we needed extra fuel because there was some bad weather in *********, so they were giving us another route. Do you mean to tell me that it was not considered when fueling the plane before takeoff? Bad weather can also happen after takeoff.I believe I should be reimbursed for my flight, but I guess American Airlines doesn't think so.

Why does an airline offer in-flight entertainment if it doesn't work? Multiple times on AA flights, the wifi or streaming doesn't work, without fail. I will be choosing Delta, Spirit, or whoever else's planes have screens in the seats. At least spirit offers better prices and their mobile streaming apps actually work.

Because I booked economy and wanted to save money the airline charges me $99 because it was economy. So you have to pay for main cabin or higher in order to not be charged. This is fraudfor a $300 ticket they made 1/3 for doing nothing. The flight was booked on-line. This is a fraudulent activity in my opinion. These airlines are stealing money from the public for doing nothing.

Worst airline I've ever flown on. Every time I fly American, flights are delayed for hours. Most recent delayed from the start, missed connection and had to rebook to final destination, lost money on my hotel, missing important events. They delay constantly and do not care or tell you why. This was the ladt time. I'll pay extra to NOT fly American Airlines!! Beware if you fly with them, more than likely your flight will be delayed at least once.
