Booked a trip with American Airlines. Ended up cancelling with them because of multiple changes in the flight times. Booked the return flight with them. Why? I don't know. Temporarily insanity maybe. Anyway, first leg of trip was fine, except they don't have in flight entertainment screens. They had a holder for my cell phone, which I could watch a movie I had downloaded to my phone. WOW!! A cell phone holder. Spare no expense!! The kicker is the second leg of the trip. When we landed we saw that our flight was delayed 2 hours. While waiting for the flight it got delayed another hour. WHAT THE HECK!!! For the price of the ticket and baggage fees you could be on time. I understand about weather and mechanical delays, but this is ridiculous. Nobody communicated with us. We all found out be looking at the information screen at the gate. I will NEVER fly with American Airlines again.

We had a military deployment event we were suppose to be at by 7 am. We could NOT miss it and be late. We got there and we're told the flight was full at the bag check in. We did arrive right as they closed but we could have not checked bags & still had time to make it as this is a very small airport and have in the past been able to get through in less time. They had sent an email earlier asking for flexible flyers so my guess is they must have given our 8 seats away. Yes 8 seats as we have 6 kids. The lady was 0 help and we then called and rebooked for a another airport 3 hours away for that evening. (This was at 5 am).Drove waited all day to have the flight delayed over & over again. Got tickets for everyone at 9:30pm so we could arrive and meet our connecting flight that would make it at midnight. Hallelujah!Seated on the plane and then there was a maintenance issue. We realized we would not make it to our connecting flight and deplaned. They left at 11pm. We drove back and made it home at 2:30am. So 24 hours of no sleep. They flew our bags back. We drove 40 minutes to pick them up at the original airport because we didn't want to wait any longer for our stuff. When I arrived I was told someone would be right there. They were not busy. I came back and there was another lady who said she had been sitting there for 10 minutes and the gentleman next to her had said nothing. Our bag was damaged and I was told to make an online claim. Luckily I called today because if I had waited more then 24 hours it would have been too late. *** said they should have helped me make a claim # at the airport but ofcourse they did not. So we will see if they will pay for our bag. We will never be able to go to this event and that's sad as my 6 kids missed their dad and were excited to go to this event to help with reintegration. We lost $ on gas, booking fees, airport food??, our destination hotel. I made a claim but am NOT holding my breath. Worst day ever.

Where do I begin.. My family went to ***** to visit family.. we purchased round trip tickets from ***********, ** to ***** a year in advance. Somehow American Airlines decided to change our return flight to depart from ******** ****** THE WRONG ISLAND we spent days of our vacation to try & correct it, & when we thought we had it worked out, we went to the airport to board our flight. Once we got there we found out they put our children (ages 1, 5, and 9) on a 13 hour journey home by themselves without their parents. The whole situation was the most absurd thing the airline workers said they had seen in their 20+ years of working there. We spent several hours* at the airport and stayed until after midnight, while they scrambled to figure out a plan. The only thing they could do was put us on a ***** podge of flights almost two days later with various connections just so we could make it home. The flight path made zero senseThey had to put us in a hotel down the street until our flight leftIt took us 25 hours to get home with young babies..we slept over night in the airport on chairs with our children, these babies did not have anywhere to sleep.. we got home 2 days later than expected - our kids missed *********** had to explain to our jobs the situation. Why ON EARTH would AA adjust our flight to leave from a different island than what we were on? And think its remotely acceptable to send our children and baby on a 13 hour journey by themselves? We spread the word of this atrocity anytime our friends mention they are planning a trip to hopefully save another family from such a disaster. When I reported this situation to American Airlines, thinking maybe they will attempt to make this right I was offered a $25 refund.. when we spent several thousands of dollars on those tickets. We will NEVER again fly American. I am also responsible for booking travel for my company, and we DO NOT use American Airlines based on our experience. They lost SO many customers.

I have booked a flight on an employers ******* benefit-hub. After purchasing 3 weeks later, I realized it was for the wrong date of departure that I needed to go out the day before (July 6th)but also months before the trip. I called to make the change immediately to benefits-hub and American Airlines but the refused will not let me change my "basic economy" trip. I requested to pay the difference and they told me no. i have also asked to cancel the trip and pay a cancelation fee for partial flight credits so I can rebook for my slight oversight and they refused. I do not fly often. Going back and forth with the benefit-hub agent and American airlines- they both said there was nothing I can do. Then I called American Airlines to say that we would miss the first leg of our trip but I plan on buying a one way departure ticket for July 6th and they said they will resell my tickets for the last leg if you do not show up for the first leg. I feel that this is not CLEARLY explained at all in any purchase of the tickets. I purchased those tickets - those seats are bought and paid for and they should not be used to be resold for them to gain more money. That is double selling. Also, this was the first time using the employer ******* benefit-hub website and did not realize there was no other levels of tickets to book flights. The only tickets they sell are "Basic", they do not give you an option to purchase main cabin to allow for changes. Additionally, I was now told to get a medical note and I can get a refund if I cannot fly. I feel that the benefit hub and American Airlines are not being accommodating and are taking advantage of passengers. I believe it's essential to provide clear information about ticket types and their associated restrictions to ensure a smooth travel experience

If I could give American Airlines zero stars, I would. My recent experience on a flight from *** to ********* was hands-down one of the worst travel experiences I've ever enduredand Ive traveled enough to know what bad looks like. The flight was delayed for 7 HOURS, and throughout the entire ordeal, American Airlines showed a complete lack of organization, professionalism, and basic human decency. There was no clear communication about the delay, just a series of vague announcements and shifting gate changes. Even more infuriating was their refusal to offer any form of compensationno meal vouchers, no miles, not even a genuine apology. This wasnt weather-related, and it wasnt an act of God. This was sheer incompetence from a company that clearly no longer cares about its passengers. Delays happenbut the utter lack of contingency planning or customer care was nauseating.Avoid ********************** at all costs if you value your time, your money, or your sanity. There are too many other carriers who actually respect their customers.

So once again the wonderful world of Babylon ignorance appears. So my flight from *** to *** was delayed where we could miss our connecting flight. The pilots had the testicular wherewithal to contact *** agents to notify them to wait just a few minutes to give people the chance to make the flight. Myself and three other people ran to the gate with ten minutes to spare and there was not a desk agent waiting on us. I had the same experience with a Delta flight that was delayed and we were minutes from making our connecting flight and low and behold a desk agent was there waiting on us and we boarded the plane and was still able to leave on time. So what American did makes as much sense as mammoth ****** attached to the buttocks of a male bullvine. I do declare how can someone that was alerted to such a thing as not have an agent be front and center waiting. Do I need to kick the door down at the gangway so I could get on the flight? What ignorant person thought of the You need to be on the plane twenty minutes before the flight departure? What does it do? Not a **** thing. I could have gotten on the flight and been on my way to get to somewhere that my help is needed but no, no one cares about the customer. The only thing they care about is doing a line and getting high. Is that more important? Is your bottom line important or the people that pay for these flights that make your bottom line important? Which one? They need to change their name from American to Bad Samaritan as I got a better chance of not having this issue with Spirit. I doubt this complaint will get anywhere however I will make it public everywhere I can.

It is super shady how they make you buy more miles to be able to afford a trip, then make you wait until your available balance updates... but by then, the fare goes up and you can't afford the ticket anymore.

Staff are rude and uncaring. They close the doors 15 minutes before flight time if they choose. We were 14 min ahead of flight time after multiple delays and they would not let us on the plane. The trip back they delayed us and we asked for help to catch our connecting flight. They told us we landed on time so we better hustled. My husband is 68 and Im 65. I have ********************, 7 vertebra fused in my neck and back and my feet have been broken 8 times. We hustled as fast as I could go only to wait most of an hour while they filled the plane with standby fliers. We left 55 minutes late. Frontier Airlines is much better than American.

I had paid and confirmed tickets from ******* to ************ ** on 4/24/25. I had connecting flights in ****** and *********. Due to minor bad weather at ***, many flights were delayed or cancelled. My flights left *** 2.5 hours late which made me miss both connections. By the time I arrived at ***, AA had rebooked my connecting flight to ******* with no other connection. I tried to visit customer service as suggested by the gate agent but there were over *********************************************** 5 minutes. I had no other option but to take the flight to ******* as I had a business meeting early the next morning. I arrived in ******* at 9:30pm and there were no AA staff at their counters. I was finally able to rent a car and drive to ************ which added another $350 to my travel costs. I contacted AA through their website as recommended and submitted a complaint since they stranded me in ******* and did not deliver me to the destination I paid for. When I finally received a response from them, they refused to reimburse or compensate me for the added expenses I incurred. I understand they do not control the weather and I have been delayed before, but I have always reached my destination no matter what airline I flew. I have been a loyal AA customer for over 30 years and this level of service is unacceptable. I believe this is fraud when they sold me a ticket to ************ and did not complete my journey and left me stranded.

Terrible Experience with American Airlines Delayed Flights and Missed Connections I flew with American Airlines on May 9, and unfortunately, the experience was terrible. The flight was delayed without much explanation, which already started things off on the wrong foot. Then, on my return trip from ******* to ***** last night, the nightmare continued. The flight was delayed again, causing me to miss my connecting flight. I was left scrambling for alternatives with very little help or support from the airline staff. Both my departure and arrival flights were delayed, which completely disrupted my plans and caused a lot of unnecessary stress and inconvenience. Its incredibly frustrating to rely on an airline that cant manage its schedule or communicate effectively with passengers.I expected more from American Airlines and was deeply disappointed. I hope they seriously improve their operations and customer service.
