I backed out of buying a home with this contractor. Mind you the house is being built. I had texted the Agent but got no response of the cancellation. Now my realtor told me that the Ernest money was not going to be release. That to me is stealing. This is getting set to built. The were a lot of lots to sell and it’s not like this is the last house. I feel duped and how can I get a refund. Buyer beware. Contractors are thief’s.

We have so many pending issues with our David Weekley home but this recent experience takes the cake!
David Weekley painted our house with the wrong paint. David Weekley touched up our paint with a different wrong paint.
David Weekley pointed out they had been using the wrong paint.
David Weekley said "use your coupon and fix it yourself.
      Great customer service Ali ********

This new-build house has been an absolute nightmare since the beginning, starting with the build being way behind schedule before we were even able to move in. Once moved in, we have been creating an extensive list of repairs that need to be fixed in order to have a house that is acceptable and up to par with a decent, quality build. Not only are there cosmetic issues such as mismatched touch-up paint types, missing stonework on exterior of the house, large gapping of the flooring, shingles on the roof that are missing since we’ve moved in, and now bowing in the ceiling of the main floor which could very well end up being a safety concern. In addition to this, many of the doors do not close properly, leaving them being unable to be latched and most importantly, the back sliding glass door is unable to be locked making a major safety concern. The garage door track is bent and sounds like metal scraping on metal and was told it would be replaced over a year ago.

As there is a one year warranty, not only do the builders and warranty agents have such a high turnover rate that you never know who you’re supposed to contact, but when do you contact the current warranty person Tyler, he sets a date and time where they will “come fix everything you’re requesting” and then no call, no show and ignore any calls or emails asking about the appointment. When contacting some of the neighbors, it sounds as if they are facing the similar issue with their warranty items being taken care of also. Over promising, and under delivering.

This has been the biggest nightmare my family and I have had to deal with and there are constant issues with the home and too many issues within the neighborhood for the repairmen to fix. In addition, I’m thinking reviews are being deleted as I have seen many poor reviews that don’t seem to make it on the Google reviews site for long before they’re deleted, making this company look like an almost 5 star builder, which is absolutely not the case.

David Weekley is a national builder and their contract is extremely rigid and offers little flexibility for future homeowners. The local folks just say it's a national contract and we have flexibility. I'm sure they do until something goes south. If you read the terms, it certainly is not fair to the buyer. The local office and team do not make it easier in the process. Walking through a Model home (s) can give you a false sense of what a basic home is versus a loaded-up home. For example, the tile in all bathrooms was tiled to the ceiling but that's not the case unless you pay for it. We know the model is high-end and what could be in your home. The standard brochure or listing material does not give enough details to show the difference between 50, 60, and 70-foot parcels. I know that is on us for not asking.

At this point, we have reached out to the corporate office and spoke to them about our situation.

A LITTLE ROCKY BUT DELIVERED ALL IN THE END
      - Did feel somewhat rushed to make our decisions during the stages of building. Our previous home was a large custom home build, where every area was completed to almost perfection. Very skilled tradesmen/contractors were used and finished all with extremely fine attention to detail & accuracy.
We found that with David Weekley, the tradesmen didn't take the time to complete their tasks accurately and manly areas were completed, leaving many imperfections. Flat paint on walls was coated too thin and shows little marks too easily. Flat paint used is for low traffic areas. DW should be using at least an egg shell finish paint on all walls. Poor quality of painting.
We believe some of the DW errors could have been avoided if they would streamline their documents they use with their software application. Too many separate documents not merged together between the sales staff, design center & builder. Thinking an IT employee can sit down with these 3 departments and address these problems to help eliminate these mistakes. Ex. stonework/tile layouts/drawings & prework at sales in stage 1 for example. Unify this process into 1 general document or file folder for access by all departments, with an area for questions directed to each department to prevent misunderstanding.
All in all, I think each builder for our community was given too many homes to handle at one time and it was too difficult for our builder to be able to keep quality control on each home. This created errors in workmanship.
** POSITIVE - David Weekely cares about their customer satisfaction and the quality of their builds. They didn't hesitate to go over and above to make all right for us. They are actively working to fix all errors and they are addressing all of our concerns right away. The DW sales staff, assigned builder & especially the warranty rep are working extremely hard to make all correct for us. WE ARE VERY PLEASED WITH THE FOLLOW UP RESULTS

DW lies. They will say one thing and then when the time comes they will do another and lie about everything. I literally have them in recording and they will still say that I am wrong.
They are so cheechy that the house comes with 8 pallets of grass and they will purposely only give 6 and then lie about it. I will have all the proof. Measurements of grass not being 8 pallets, the P.O. from landscaper showing 6 pallets. then they will say that we agreed on only getting 6 pallets and I will show them audio recording of me telling the builder I expect 8 pallets and the builder lying saying it is 8. Then they will just say sorry but they are not proving anymore!! It is literally contract and they still won't do that! That summarizes how they are with everything.
They were like that with something as small as grass so imagine trying to get them to fix the big things.
They never actually fix any of their warranty items. They don't know the proper stucco waterproofing protocol and do all their homes wrong. They don't know their building code and it doesn't matter if you get an inspection they will deny fixing anything on the inspection. If they build something wrong they will just make up a lie as to why they don't need to fix it.
IT WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! DO NOT BUILD WITH DW!!!!

Super disappointed with the overall experience. We closed the house in May 2022 so it has been less than 1 year but we already had so many issues:

1)Gas leaking on the oven range due to improper installation-we smelt gas inside the kitchen and called the warranty guy to check on it. Found out they did not connect the gas pipes correctly so the gas leaks once we start the stove

2)Roof leaking after the rain-in Feb there was a overnight rain, and when we woke up we saw a huge water puddle inside the house by the kitchen pantry! The AC vent was leaking as well. We had a roofer to check on it and found out the there was issues with the roof and they had to fix it

3)Dishwater stopped working due to improper installation. Dishwasher stopped functioning after 2 months of use, and it turned out that 2 of the wires were not connected properly causing them to melt and come apart

4)Multiple areas need to be caulked, painting chipping prior to move-in but warranty guys never showed up to fix these issues, When we bought the house, the seller assured us that all the warranty issues will be taken care of in a quick manner; however, it was never the case. We submitted the tickets for them to fix the paint and caulking issues, and they just closed the ticket without fixing it

Had a new home built in Campanas area of San Antonio. Have had horrible experience with " New Home Warranty". Have had birds entering Attic through poorly constructed eaves. Warranty rep ( Kevin) says the eaves are built correctly and are per design. Need to have Health Department investigate to close off openings Texas Building Department needs to help " Me"
Warranty is " All but - None Existant "

Horrible experience! I was in the process of building a house with them in carmel. I found multiple mistakes with the siding. We asked for them to be corrected or an extended warranty on just the siding so I would feel better about the situation. They said they didn’t want to fix anything and immediately canceled my contract and said they didn’t want to do business with me anymore. I said I would take the house as is and would like to continue on with our contact. They said no. Their contract state that they can cancel on anyone, at anytime, for any reason. Which is horrible! I got my deposit back and $350 for damages( that covers nothing!) I also lost my interest rate lock. They also sent me a formal statement saying they were canceling because I couldn’t compromise and was requesting the entire house to be resided which was a complete lie. A week later they put the house on the market for around $30,000 more.

We closed on our David Weekley home in January of 2020. Our’s was not spec home rather it was our project from dirt to completion. While we had issues (everyone does) David Weekley handled each one with complete resolution and superb communication. Recently we sold our home in Bexley and overall throughout the entire 2.5 years David Weekley gets an all star rating for each and every category. Mike Foster, the area Vice President was outstanding in delivery, communication, leadership and understanding of our issues. Mike never failed us! He and his team delivered a great home!
