The worst company there is!! they take advantage of the customer because they are a monopoly corp. I asked for a manager to give me a call back and I haven’t received a call at all. It’s been a week!!! I called again and they said they would call me back by four and now it’s been three days!!! Not only that in the past all the representatives tell me diff things and do not care to help you. They lie about what can actually be done and the options you have. Be careful.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

The most atrocious service I have ever received from a utility company and this is after living in multiple states and municipalities across the country.
I am honestly going to pressure local representatives to find another gas contractor to replace CenterPoint. They do not deserve our business but unfortunately get it due to a monopoly.
Their reps will hang up on you. They will not adhere to their own policies of shutting of gas/electricity via 5 days of written or in person notice, they will just send someone to shut your gas off and won't come back for a week. I couldn't bathe my new born in the tub for a week and had to sponge bathe her. They just do not care about you or your business.
They took 50 bucks for a same day service and never showed up and hung up on me. Upon calling back I got the "apologetic" one, which he did sound genuine for a bit until it was abundantly apparent that he was just telling me empty promises to get me off the phone.
The technician who eventually came out was a nice gentleman and I appreciate him. This company has no business doing business in Texas.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Not recommended at all. Worst company to deal with. Charges are way too high. Outrageous. Its like mafia. They tell us not to use too mich electricity and charges us $350-450 for 4 bedroom house. What is this? They think they can take high bills but don’t use electricity either. We kept it under 78 temperature from 11pm to 8pm for AC in a day it feels way too hot till 8pm and we don’t even use washer or dryer during that time but still paying so much. $350 this is ridiculousCenterPoint Energy, LLC

1 starTerrible reliability. We have had several outages in the last year - 77056 area. It appears that Centerpoint is not properly maintaining the infrastructure even though it is reimbursed by its customers to do so. And it earns a rate of return on those assets as well! It’s a classic example of how a public utility has little incentive to provide quality customer experience. Centerpoint obviously doesn’t care about it’s customers.Review fromScott G

1 starUnable to provide services as advertised. No method to call nor does anyone care. Outages are handled carelessly and without regard to impact. We need other options as they are inept.Review fromBridger J

Centerpoint Energy has a useless "start service" feature on their online platform. This allows you to schedule an appointment to turn on utilities, just for them to never show up. You must call the company and schedule vaguely timed appointments. If you're going to offer an online method of service, the least you can do is ensure that it works and doesn't leave people without essential utilities for a week.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Horrible company! After this last Wednesday's storm, we were without power longer then anyone else in our neighborhood. Outage recovery is supposed to be 24/7 and the crew just left. We finally got power back only to lose it again 15 hours later because a transformer exploded. Fire everywhere, clearly a dangerous situation. No Centerpoint crews in the area to fix it. Was told they would be here last night at 7:45pm to start repairs. Nothing. Still on fire. Was then told they would be here at 6am to start repairs. Nothing. No information. No eta. Triple digit heat during the day. Children, elderly, people with medical issues, pets all with no A/C and these people just leave us with a fire to fend for ourselves. I recently had a Stent placed to treat a brain aneurysm and have developed debilitating migranes because of it. Excess heat and stress are two of my triggers. I am in agony. Nothing. Centerpoint doesn't give a crap that we are suffering. They're not "working hard to restore power" like their website says. They lie. And the worst part? This is going to reflect on our bill as a higher charge. They mess up (the transformer exploded because the equipment was old and faulty. It had nothing to do with the storm) and we get stuck with the bill for their negligence.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for allowing us to address your concern. It is important to note on June 21st, strong winds, heavy rain, and hundreds of lightning strikes caused extensive damage to the company's transmission and distribution electric systems, with the most significant damage impacting Greenspoint, Cypress, Bellaire, and Humble. Wind gusts of 70-75 mph and an isolated gust of nearly 97 mph (equivalent to the wind speed of a Category 2 hurricane) near George Bush Intercontinental Airport were reported. Damage resulted in electric service interruptions peaking at nearly 324,000 CenterPoint Energy customers. Additionally, the outage experienced on June 10, 2023, was during a significant storm event that affected a large portion of the CenterPoint Houston Electric footprint, causing outages to more than 300,000 customers. We appreciate your patience while we work safely to restore power, after the storm and apologize for any inconveniences.
Kindest Regards,
CenterPoint Energy

I signed up for centerpoint and was told my bill would be 20-30 a month per levelized billing. Bills were mostly doubled when I got them. It took the lady from LIHEAP to find out my bills were high bc of levelized billing. One employee I spoke with afterwards took me off if levelized billing. During this time, there were correspondence about the complaints to corporate office, and they stood strong on the fact that I owed that bc of the gas I used, I live alone in a duplex, and the way levelized billing us set up. They did admit that they put new unemployed to work that were uneducated on the facts and that was part of the problem. Long story short, they have taken advantage of someone on a fixed income. They gave me ultimatums. They cut me off bc I was 20 dollars short. I contacted LPSC, and I could tell that their office would b no help to me. They finally called and told me they would cut it back on in spite of the 20 dollars but I am still libel for all those overcharges. One employee had me off of levelized billing, and corporate who always claims their abilities are limited, gave me an ultimatum which forced me to get back on it. So now they offered me a payment plan for money I don't owe and bills Incurred after they admitted it was part their fault. I'm 60 and disabled and8m gonna have to move and disrupt my life bc of Centerpoint Energy and zero help from the office of the ********* ****** ******* ************* ******.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for allowing us to address your concern. Our corporate office has made several attempts to work with the customer. Unfortunately, the customer defaulted on the arrangement set up on her account, which caused the shut-off notice to be sent to the customer. Since the customer was unable to pay the entire past-due balance and she did not call to speak with our corporate office, the service was disconnected. We suggest that the customer continues to seek Energy Assistance.
Respectfully,

It is the second week of June and we have experience THREE OUTAGES LASTING ALMOST 10 HOURS–on the third, yesterday and today. I have elderly parents, a pet and food in the refrigerator that is spoiling right now as we speak. This is absolutely insane. Inconsistent updates from the site and we’re unable to have the issue resolved in a timely manner. If I could give this company zero stars I would. This is infuriating.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for allowing us to address your concern. This outage occurred during a weather event with many trouble cases across the CenterPoint Energy territory. During an outage, registered customers of ‘Power Alert Service’ receive an estimated restoration time for our affected customers. These estimations get adjusted as crews are assigned, arrive, and access the damage. Due to the complexity of the work involved, the reassignment to different crews, and the elevated trouble level caused multiple updates.
