      There needs to be negative stars!! Centerpoint energy has an integrity issue. Workers claim to go to residences to do work, claim to knock or ring doorbells, then just leave notes that they came by!! THEN they proceed to document that they went to an address and knocked or rang the door bell, and claimed no one was home, and instead just left a note. All on a Ring doorbell video but that doesn’t matter! It’s your fault for being in the shower when we made our “courtesy call” to you!! Then when calling to speak to Norma the supervisor, she doesn’t like dealing with angry people, so she proceeds to come up with excuses, and tell me that if doesn’t matter that I have a video contradicting their workers statement……she goes on personal attacks towards me, the paying customer, about paying my bill! This is the absolute worst so called company! Horrible customer service, horrible services, very quick to violate your personal property to gain access to your back yard when it’s convenient for them, but not quick to remedy customer service issues, and they just flat out lie, and are ok with it!! I truly hate dealing with this company!

      I was left without gas on Thanksgiving day from early in the morning or during the prior night. I have my account (####7718) on good payment standing and no debt. Checked the Intelis meter and it does not display any alarm but the icon of Shutoff valve shows it as closed. I called Centerpoint customer service on Thu 11/23 (Thanksgiving) and the telephone recorded message said they did not work that day due to the holiday and only work on Mon-Fri business hours. I called again on Fri 11/24 and to my surprise, they are still on holiday which means that I remain without gas for the Thanksgiving holiday, Friday and the weekend. I called one emergency telephone they have and one dispatcher said it is only for gas leaks and they do not fix service interruption problems and that I would have to wait until Monday. I find it unacceptable that a utility company does not have an after hours telephone line for customer who have their service interrupted when they are in good payment standing. That fact, compounded with the cold temperatures and having this situation for 4 days it is not the way a utility company should treat customers. I hope the regulator looks into this matter. I am left 4 days without heat and hot water in cold temperatures due to the negligence of Centerpoint. I have also filed a complaint with the Texas attorney general. Emilio T.

      Unfortunately, what Centerpoint responded is not true.

      1. For a natural gas outage, the numbers only work during business hours. After hours you are derived to a bot that cannot solve an outage. In my case I called repeatedly the East Texas number (800 259 5544) on Thu, Fri and Sat last week without getting any person to pick up. Anyone can verify what am saying.
      The only emergency they deal with is gas leaks for which they have a different number. If you have an outage and call the gas leak number, the dispatcher will not send someone unless you have a leak. That is what the dispatcher on the other number told me when I called on Friday.

      2. Centerpoint had a meter that was not sized properly for my house hence it failed.

      3. The issue was resolved on Monday, which left me with 4+ days without gas (without heating in cold temperatures)


      I am very disappointed with the lack of transparency of Centerpoint to recognize they do not have an emergency crew to deal with gas outages .

      Only giving a "one star" rating because zero wasn't an option! This so-called business, is awful! I attempted to have my service started several different times, for several weeks; using the self-help online service! I called several times and was put on hold to wait for a representative, every time I called. I called 12 times in the last 3 weeks and every time I was on hold for 25 to 30 minutes, before I hung up! Finally I was fed up and I called in and chose the option for an emergency gas leak and finally got through to someone! However this just made my thoughts on this company even worse because the lady who answered told me she was sending me back to the other number. I told her, no thank you nobody answers that number, and she said she had to. I asked for a number for corporate or a number for a supervisor! She then ignored my request and sent me back to the number I have been on hold with several times for 25 minutes or more every time and then my experience was even worse because the lady I just talked to on the emergency line is the exact same person who now decided to answer that line. She then acted as if i was inconveniencing her and finallu set me up for an appointment! When we were done setting up the appointment she asked me if there was anything else I needed and I requested the survey at the end of the call and she said okay and paused and then she asked me again if there was anything else that I needed and I again requested the survey at the end of the call she said okay bye and hung up. Thankfully I have no infants in my home however I feel so sorry for the people who do have infants in their home and my service area whom cannot get through to get their service turned on! My family and I have been using electric heaters which we all know is a fire hazard and I feel it is pathetic and unprofessional that I had to call in as an emergency to finally get somebody on the phone, just to get heat for my children, in my house!

      CenterPoint Energy/Gas is absolutely one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. I have been a loyal customer for over 16 years, never late on any payment. Suddenly, they turn off my gas. I have 4 children and did not discover the gas was turned off until my wife tried to make dinner and the children were ready for showers. It was cold so we had to go to a relative’s house.
      Apparently, these clowns changed my billing address to some random address and I did not get any bills for a couple of months. They turned off my gas and charged me a bunch of fees (collection fee, re-connection fee, etc). When I called customer service, no one can tell me who authorized the billing address change and they will not credit back the fees. This was their mistake and they expect ME to pay for it!!
      These people are no help and treat me like a criminal! They have no values and do not care for their customers. They don’t even seem to care for people in general. Absolutely horrible and malicious!!

      FRAUDS. We closed out our account. Got confirmation receipt of closed out account. 3 months later we got a call saying we still owe them $500 for a “close out fee” they forgot to add. We paid. They gave us another receipt. 3 more months later they’re sending us to collections for $500 “close out fee” that was never paid! Absolute frauds. They need to be shut down immediately!!

      Worthless, Rude, Terrible. Made an appointment to get gas turned on. Time frame is all day. Waited all day by the phone and door. No one showed up. Called 4 times and was just told they were coming and not to worry. This process is broken and stupid. Im 4 days in and no gas. If you have any option at all avoid this company at all costs. CEO clearly could care less about customer service. Only $$$$ Impossible to get ahold of supervisor. Very poor customer service and company. BAD BAD BAD

      Policy doesn't allow customers to receive copies work order tickets of carbon monoxide tests of their own furnace!
      Don't you trust your own techs test results? Ridiculous!! So I tell the buyers RE agent, trust me, cause CenterPoint won't give you a written receipt of the test results even though the results are acceptable.

When our technicians arrived to reinstall the meter, they were unable to initially do so, due to the plumber's gage being left on the riser. Currently, we show the meter has been successfully re-installed and the gas service was restored. We apologize for the inconvenience.

      I am wring to state how disappointed we are with this company. During these tough times economically, we have tried NUMEROUS times to get help with waiving our security deposit with no success or acknowledgement. While I understand you want a "credit reference letter" stating we have paid gas on time for 12 months, our previous rental company refused to do one. In place of that, we provided you with 3 years of proof of on time payments through them to **********. We also were able to send another ledger showing the same from **********. I'm sure there are account notes of me calling in to speak to a supervisor multiple times. Each time when being transferred, the line would hang up. You would think that good customer service would have called me back to continue the call- no, that never once happened. I would appreciate being acknowledged and refunded our deposit that we clearly should not have to pay.

When establishing gas with us, a Utility Credit Check is performed to determine if a deposit is required. However, CenterPoint Energy has some forms of Alternate Deposit that may be accepted in lieu of the normal deposit. The Alternate Forms of Deposit for residential accounts include the following: Third-Party Guarantor Agreements, Incoming Letters of Credit, Military Personnel Provision and Victims of Family Violence Letter. Unfortunately, a proof of payment letter or form is not sufficient to waive the requested deposit. Deposits are returned to customers after twelve months of on-time payments with CenterPoint Energy. We apologize for any inconveniences.

      Completely worthless company. CenterPoint is the power provider for our area - we cannot opt out of CP, only choose the power company we buy our energy from that is supplied by CP. Constant power outages from gentle rains, numerous power surges on clear days causing damage to appliances/electronics, and NO ONE is accountable or doing anything to fix these issues. 77354/77355 ZIP areas.
