Crooked service disconnected my service even though I have direct withdraw from my bank. Then talked to a rude service rep who just hangs up on me on 3/29/23 at around 7pm. Will be filing in small claims court if not resolved.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for the opportunity to address your concerns. We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced regarding your gas service. Upon further review of the account, we show that the account was set up on auto-draft. However, a return payment on the account caused the removal of the auto-draft. A disconnection notice was mailed on 03/14/2023 regarding a past-due balance of $112.13. The notice stated that the amount would need to be paid on or before 03/24/2023 to prevent a disconnection. We do offer payment arrangements such as extensions or installment plans. If you have any questions, please contact customer service at 800-752-8036. There is something not right.
I moved from the east coast and set up my service in Oct 2022 and bill was $33. Dec. gas bill was $358 and Jan gas bill was $328.
I called and they conducted investigation and stated there are no issues, so bill is accurate. I don't believe that at all, I'm being overcharged and if it's from that freeze, I didn't even live here at that time. This is absolutely ridiculous because gas bill is more than electric and I also have electric cooktop and oven. Overall I never got a justification as to reason bill quadrupled.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

I have one way alley access to my garage. When work crews show up i need advance notice to plan around the loss of access to my home. Last year when my neighbor had Centerpoint over to do power pole work, i asked the crew to give our neighbor 1 or 2 hour advance notice. The crew lead literally screamed at me that they have no control of their schedule and they need to show up whenever they show up. He was aggressive and combative. I have never seen anyone act like this. He should not be interacting with customers.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Absolutely horrible customer service! I scheduled to have my meter upgraded and it cost me $350 when I scheduled the appointment. The technician showed up an hour after calling instead of 30 minutes. When he arrived he immediately stated “we have a problem. Is your husband home?”. First of all I’m the one that made the appointment And paid for the appointment. He was very rude and clearly didn’t want to work. I immediately called to report his rude behavior and request a new technician. (His problem was a bush that all he had to do was walk around to the other side) After the customer service representative kept me on the schedule to get a new technician that man went into my appointment and noted that there are two large trees in the way and canceled my appointment. Again, not a single tree over there, one bush that you just walk around to the other side of. Sat here all day for no one to show up. Called to find out what happened and that’s how I know he canceled it. The representative said he rescheduled himself 5 days from now. Absolutely not! He is not welcome on my property for any reason. The representative thankfully rescheduled for the next day and noted that he is not to come here but now I have to sit at home 8-5 for a second day in a row. They need to hire people that will actually work and do their jobs.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Quadrupled their price with no warning during winter months. I had a house vacant on the market to sell and the gas bill went from $30 to $120. They also try to stick you with a third party insurance contract. Avoid if possible.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

This corporation is nothing but money hungry. They justify charging people crazy amounts of money for energy. My last electric bill was 300 for 1 month and I live in a apartment. This was after I did their sad "energy assessment" . This company is nothing but scammers plain and simple. Filling the pockets of the upper management with money while normal people have to suffer. I work from home and I started to smell gas coming from my hallway and then it started to get stronger and stronger throughout my house so I quickly gathered my kids and my animals and went outside and called center point they advised me to go to a safe space away from the house and to not turn off / on ANYTHING and wait on the technician. When the technician arrived he did detect a gas leak coming into the house from underneath my crawl space. He ran some tests and had to shut everything off until repairs could be made. All of which is understandable. My complaint is with the horrible customer service I called back to ask if I could get a letter stating I did have a gas leak as proof so I could turn it into my boss to show why I had to abruptly leave my computer system and not be working during that time... All the lady said to me was "oh no we don't do letters sorry". What?! That's the dumbest thing I ever heard every major company provides letters for these types of situations but why not center point? I guess HR is just gonna have to take my word on this because center point can't send me a letter stating on this date and this time a gas leak was detected....just horrible!CenterPoint Energy, LLC

3 starsCenterPoint is regularly sending emails with subjects such as "Your Response Requested" and then the body of the email is an ad for their HomeServe partner who insures the interior gas lines. These mails are quite deceptive and misleading and are not what I expect from a legitimate business.Review fromKathlene D

I live in Gulfport, Mississippi and own my home. I called Centerpoint Energy on 02/10/2023 [Friday] because I smelled gas while I was outside in my yard. The Centerpoint Energy Technician came over and evaluated the gas smell. He determined the gas leak was coming somewhere from the gas line coming to my home from the gas meter--He removed the gas meter and left. I called a Certified Plumbing company and they came over the same day [02/10/2023] and replaced some outside gas lines under my house. The plumber left the connected pressure testing gauge/meter on the gas line meter pipe to prove the gas leak was fixed. A City of Gulfport permit inspector came later that evening [02/10/2023] and APPROVED the repair. I immediate contact Centerpoint Energy to get the gas meter reinstalled, After numerous phone calls to Centerpoint Energy Emergency call line, they said they do not install gas meters after business hours, which include Saturday, Sunday and holidays. It did not matter if the removed gas meter was part of the Emergency Gas Leak situation. I have a gas central home furnace. It is winter time and was forecasted to be very cold on the morning of Saturday[02/11/2023], and Sunday[02/12/2023]. I am a senior citizen and suffer from severe diabetes, plus I have two young grandchildren [ages 2 and 6] that live with me. I had to pay for a hotel room to keep warm Saturday[20/11/2023] and Sunday[02/12/2023]. A Centerpoint Energy Technician finally came out to my home Monday morning[02/13/2023] and reinstalled my gas meter. Mississippi Power have ON CALL Electrical Technicians for Emergencies; apparently, Centerpoint Energy do not care enough about their customers. Reinstalling my gas meter was PART of the EMERGENCY GAS LEAK which led to the removal of my gas meter.CenterPoint Energy, LLC
