After power outage on April 26 due to my tree limbs touching their lines and shorting out the transformer, utility sent out tree cutters to trim my limbs off the main line in the easement. However, They did not haul them away and left them all across my yard about 4 feet high blocking my exit out of my back yard gate. I was told it would be up to 4 weeks to pick them all up and haul away. That is unacceptable especially since utility cut them down to begin with.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced in this matter. Upon review we show that a call was received on 04/26/2024 regarding a power line that was smoking and making a crackling noise. Due to the nature of the emergency technicians were notified immediately so that the area could be made safe. However, in the event of an emergency the technicians do not pick up tree debris in cases such as this. You are welcome to contact a tree company who may be able to remove the limbs on your behalf. If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact customer service at 800-332-7143.Review fromLaya Y

It seems pretty obviously that no executive (or anyone of importance) reads these reviews. There's an obvious pattern of complaints regarding your technicians and yet no changes have been made.
I am a new customer setting up initial service. My appointment for a technician to turn on my service was cancelled 3 times. Either your technicians are lying and saying they're unable to access the property or theres is a clear lack of communication to the customer and the assigned technician had to be pulled away.
My property was vacant and I provided the code for the technician to enter my house and even still, the technician claimed they couldn't complete the service request. After the 3rd day and 4 appointment, a technician was "magically" able to access my house even though nothing had changed (again, the house was vacant so nothing COULD change).
When talking to an operator on one of my many phone calls to the company, I asked that the technical call me if they couldn't access my house. Even though the house is vacant, I have many family members less than a 1 min drive away who could give the technician access to the property. I was told this was "against company policy" for the technician to call me. You mean to tell me it makes more sense for the company to waste time and resource to have a tech come to the property multiple times instead of just calling me?
All of the above leads me to believe that your technicians are lying to the company. They are claiming to go on-site when they actually don't. Again, no changes were made to my property, and yet somehow on the 4th appointment attempt across 3 days they were suddenly able to access the property? I don't think so.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

2 starsI opted for notifications via email/sms should their be outages, which I have received in the past without any problems. Usually when there is an outage, I don't feel the need to call their toll-free, but this time I decided to call as the Outage Tracker did not provide a resolution time. Upon speaking to a CSR, I was informed that technicians were now on route to repair, which had me confused b/c I received an email yesterday 04/10/2024 indicating that a crew was working on repairs. My complaint is not about the time it is taking to repair, but the misleading notifications by CenterPoint. I work from home, having a reliable source of notifications is important in ensuring I provide proper expectations to my company. Do better!
Crews are still working on repairs at or near _______. Be assured that our crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.Review fromjames K

Disconnected my cooking gas 19 days before the bill due date. The bill came 7 days after the gas was disconnected. They collected from me reconnection fee and deposit even before the bill was delivered. Later when the bill was delivered, I discovered that the bill did not even have a disconnection warning either. I fell like this is a total extortion of money and intimidation of customer. I need back my reconnection and the deposit money they took from me. They illegally obtained it from me.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for reaching out to CenterPoint. In review of your account, the February and March billing statements both generated as a disconnection notice. No payment was received toward the February billing statement. On the March billing statement, it does state under the "Important Information" section that the service was subject to disconnection at any time for the previous past due balance as stated on your last bill and disconnection notice. When service is disconnected, there is a reconnection fee and security deposit required to restore the service. However, customers are entitled to refund of the security deposit after 9 consecutive months of on-time payments; deposits will automatically be refunded after 12 months of on-time payments.
If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact Customer Service at 1-800-227-1376.

They don’t care about the people the service. They just care about putting money in their own pocket. It’s already hard enough for young people to live out and get a place of their own with the cost of living. Not only can we not now afford rent/mortgage and groceries, but now we can afford to keep our electric on. It’s wild a ceo can tak home 38 mill but ask to price gauge its people for infrastructure when he can afford it himself. Disgusting company with no moralsCenterPoint Energy, LLC

Terrible company. Highest energy rates in the tri state area. The “service charges and distribution fees” cost more than the actual gas/ electric itself. This company is a scam.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced in this matter. CenterPoint Energy is the Transmission/Distribution Service Provider meaning we only distribute the power. Readings are obtained and the usage is submitted to your retail provider and billed to them directly. CenterPoint Energy does not bill customers for electricity. If there are any questions regarding your electric charges your retail provider will be able to assist with those questions. Kindest Regards, CenterPoint Energy.Review fromJeremiah D

The most corrupt electric company out there. Don’t live in Southern Indiana if you want to be able to live. The monthly electric charge is the same as your rent. Do not if at all possible get service through this company. The customer service doesn’t care about you either absolutely a monopoly electric company. Should be illegal.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

CenterPoint disconnected my gas on a Friday before a freezing winter weekend, without having given adequate notice and giving me no means to reconnect until the next Monday. It is not at all surprising to me that their BBB accreditation has been revoked. This company is clearly owned and managed by people with no soul or compassion.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Thank you for reaching out to CenterPoint. In review of the account, we do show that two disconnection notices were sent on the December and January bills prior to the service being disconnected for non-payment. We do offer payment arrangement options to customers prior to service disconnection. You can contact Customer Service at 1-800-227-1376 to discuss these options if ever needed.
