this company in the only company that provides natural gas in my area and as such they overcharge for their services. my bill this month is double what it was last month and it has not even been cold. i only use gas for my heater furnace and my water heater. how can my bill double if the temperatures have been the same and I was not home for 2 weeks. The man who came to my door was smoking a big cigar, puffing in my face, impolite by calling my by my first name (I am 82 years old) leaving the gate open on his way out, and as sick as I am, I had to go out to close it. What a shame, No wonder it is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau! A disgrace to the Texas courtesy!CenterPoint Energy, LLC

My bill was 138.62 and disabled my service. I live in Minnesota and it 23 degrees out. I was disconnected for not paying a $12 and $22 bill. I was living in the home for over a year due to a house fire. I paid the 138.62, we have to wait until the next day to have or heat restoredCenterPoint Energy, LLC

CenterPoint Energy records show that a Notice of Disconnection in the amount of $80.71 was sent on December 4 and expired on December 19 after no payment was received. The service was then disconnected on January 3 and reconnected on January 4. Please note that your account would be eligible for payment arrangements if necessary.Review fromGarrett P

Called to have power reconnected after contractor had finished his work early was told it would be today. After waiting 4 and a half hours i was told it would have to wait until monday. Its cold all weekend i have a child in the house and no heat. Stephanie was rude and disrespectful. I am lodging a formal complaint to corperate monday morningCenterPoint Energy, LLC

I've had gas service with this company for over 25 years. Somehow account numbers changed on our end or debit card numbers and we somehow didn't pay for two months. I believe the total bill was around $150 for two months. My fault for the oversight but they cut off my gas without even knocking on the door to give me a chance to pay right then and there. As soon as I realized a few minutes after cutoff I called them to see what was wrong. I then realized it was past due. I paid right away and also paid deposit to reconnect and $47 to get it reconnected that same day. Well, the appointment was set between 10am-10pm. They never arrived and never contacted me to let me know that they would not be coming. It was in the 30s that night and no hot water no heat for the house.
I called the next morning because they don't answer the phones after hours. They advised me that their technician had an incident and was not able to make it to my house, obviously. I asked for my $47 to be refunded since they could not or did not make it on time. I also expressed disappointment in the fact that they did not contact me to tell me the technician would not be coming by. I could of made other arrangements to get warm water/heat in the house.
I asked for a manager or supervisor but the rep said no one was available and would call me later. I have not received a call and it's 4:30 pm and I called at 8 am.
They've showed no professionalism or the willingness to take care of their customers. If there was another gas company I'd of switched by now. they are so lucky. Shame on you Centerpoint Energy, shame on you.
After 25 years of on time payments you are quick to cut off service instead of getting to the bottom of the problem. It was an oversight on my end but what is your excuse?CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Unbelievable that this company is as large as it is and cannot figure out their own billing issues. I believe their customer service reps are told not to confirm or acknowledge credits that their customers are owed. Today I called for the fourth or fifth time in the last two months. I was transferred to 4 different people and was kept on the phone for over an hour and they still couldn't figure out how they screwed up my billing. I have two homes, one is a rental where I have home service plus and I have my home where I am billed for gas and for home service plus. One account has a credit and the other has an amount due so...all I ask is for them to move the credit over to the account that has a balance. Easy right? Oh no, their system is so screwed up that they aren't allowed to do that and I have to speak to someone else. So the next person couldn't figure anything out and as we were talking, all of the sudden, the credit disappeared. I asked if I could drive somewhere so I could show them my bills to help them understand since they obviously cannot figure it out over the phone. I was told that no, I have to go thru their cust service. So now what? Today their cust service rep asked for my addresses and my acct numbers at least ten times. After speaking to a minimum of 15 cust service reps over the past two months, my bill is still a screwed up mess. They are unable to figure out a huge problem that they, Centerpoint, created. I looked online to try to go up the chain of command and found their board of directors. They listed their bios and their past experience, and their photos but there is no way to contact them. Maybe they should use some of their experience to take care of their customers. I see the BBB revoked their rating since they have so many complaints. After reading a few of the complaints lodged against them, my complaint seems minor. I would suggest complainants contact ***** ******** ******** What a mess of a company!CenterPoint Energy, LLC

Customer service is horrible. No one can answer a question. They said they would be at my house to turn power on between 3pm-7pm on Friday after an emergency repair. They showed up at 12:40 am Sunday, after I called and called only for the representative said they were not coming until Saturday morning. They claim to have no way of finding out where a tech is or when they are coming! Unfortunately, there is not a thing a consumer can do, we are at their mercy. Our technicians make every effort to complete all orders in a timely manner, and these types of orders are completed normaly within four hours of receipt, however the weather and workload may extend that time frame. If you smell gas do not call Centerpoint. They will make your life a living ****. If you try to do the right thing they will punish you. After my external gas leak was repaired they left me without utilities for 13 days. After they shut you off they tell you that you are no longer a priority. If this wasn’t a monopoly they would be out of business.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

The power has gone off 10 times in 2023 here on bamboo Road. It went off one time three days in a row each day they would fix it and it would go out again. Each crew said the previous one had done it wrong.CenterPoint Energy, LLC

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I got my meter removed due to a gas leak on 11/11/2023. Due to erosion on pipes this took longer than expected to fixed but it was resolved, it’s been fixed and passed inspection on 11/29/2023.
I have been calling daily 2-3x a day to get my gas reconnected and no one shows up.. I receive a call that a technician is on the way to only find out when I call for update that they had an emergency. Every person I speak to have something different to say all the time and when asked to speak to someone else to address the concern like a supervised or despatch they hang up on you!! This Saturday I am going on a month without gas. I will be filing a complaint. This is unacceptable and ridiculous. I have kids and was left without heater during this cold weather because of their lack of customer service and miscommunication. Also, I called today 3x and they all confirmed I was scheduled for today. I called at 6:30pm for an employee to tell me “I’m going to be real with you.. you were never scheduled” but my “supervisor” will return your call. No call received. This has been every day for the past week!
Center point energy this is unacceptable. You guys are so quick to remove a meter but not to reconnect. Do y’all not want to get paid??!CenterPoint Energy, LLC
