They have consistently sent me text saying I have an in-store credit of $83 for an account I had with them. But when I call about tell me that they dont owe me any money. Its just some kind of incentive their offering which in that case would not be a credit. A credit would indicate that I had overpaid on something.Business Response

Rent-A-Center (RAC) transactions are not financing arrangements or loans. *** purchases the merchandise selected by the customer from the host store and then rents the merchandise to the customer through a terminable agreement that contains the disclosures as required by applicable law. Despite our efforts to resolve Ms. ******* issues, we are unable to reach a resolution. We request Ms. ***** to contact her local store should she have further issues.

Ms.******** entered into a written contract in the form of a Rental-Purchase Agreement that contained all disclosures mandated by applicable state law.
Rent-A-Center denies any allegations of harassing Ms. ********* Nonetheless, per their request, we have placed a do-not-contact order on her account. *********************** note, we are still permitted to contact Ms. ******** for purposes of scheduling pick up of our property as her agreement is expired.

This is Rent-A-Center's second response to Ms. ******* complaint. Ms. ****** alleges her Agreement has not expired, however, she is currently 13 days past-due. Per her Agreement, "We may terminate
this lease for a default in payment or breach of any other material term in the lease. If a termination occurs, we shall be entitled to all rental payments up to the date of termination and the expenses of repossessing the property if you fail to surrender it to us." The Agreement further states, "If you miss a payment, you may reinstate this Agreement within 7 days after the payment due date without losing any rights or options previously acquired." Due to Ms. ******* untimely payment, her Agreement is currently expired as stated.Sincerely,

I am renting refrigerator from them,I couldn't call on weekend but I called first thing Monday morning,told them my refrigerator went out they stated they would have someone come that same day come 3pm I called them back apparently they *********** comes Tuesday they send someone out they looked at refrigerator said they would possibly be back the same day here it is Wednesday now all my food is spoiled and I call them back they said they don't know what time they will be back to my ******** of course this is day 3 between Monday May 5 and May 7 th they have yet to replace refrigerator that I'm making payments on.This is unfair and this is not the first time this has happened so I'm asking for them to pay for food that I no longer have.and I have no means of getting anymore food right now because I live on fixed budgetBusiness Response

Yes they did replace refrigerator gave me $100 gift card.bought another refrigerator out and today is Monday May 12th 2025 yet again I had to get back in touch with rent-a-center because the one they bought out also was bad I got in touch with ****** he is working on a loner refrigerator until they can get there refrigerators fixed but once again I have to get food all over again.honestly I hope this works because if not I'm planning on going somewhere else because I'm losing a lot of food and money and I can't afford to do this. I purchased a new refrigerator, upon delivery they ruined my kitchen floor while bringing the new refrigerator inside. They took pictures and admitted fault. They told me what to do to file a claim through them to have my floor fixed so I did that but then they denied the claim and said they wouldnt fix the kitchen floor. The person doing the claim said it wasnt their fault and they wont fix it. Yet the guys delivering it admitted fault and took pictures of it.Business Response

Rent-A-Center denies responsibility for the damage reported at Ms. ******** residence. Following an evaluation by a third party, a claim was opened but ultimately denied due to the amount of time that had passed since the alleged incident and because the extent of the reported damage did not align with the circumstances of the delivery. As a result, the claim has been closed. Without additional evidence indicating fault, we are unable to proceed with further investigation. We request Ms. ******* to contact her local store should she have further issues.

On April 26th went into the ************ store to rent furniture put down 218$ and I was told I would not have another payment until after I received the furniture. I had ordered two bedroom sets and a living room set. One bedroom set was to be delivered on 5/5 and the other sets they told me would take up to six weeks to be delivered. On 5/2 I received a phone call stating that I needed to make a payment. Because I was working I did not have an opportunity to call them . On 5/3 I received a text saying I had a payment due. And it was now overdue . The store was closed on Sunday. Monday I called them and spoke to ****** who stated that I missed my payment. I explained to her that I had no merchandise in my possession and how am I paying on something I didnt have. The answer I received was that this is how rent a center works. I had done business before with rents center and never had any issues. I told her that it was a racket and Im not paying anymore money on something I do not have. I told her to tear my agreements and dont even bother bringing my furniture because it was no longer wanted and I also told her I would be pursuing this legallly.Business Response

Upon receipt of your complaint, Rent-A-Center (RAC) submitted a request to have all trade lines reported by us removed from Ms. ********** credit. The AUD control number is AUD-12596748.
RAC can request but not guarantee that the credit reporting agencies will comply with our request to remove the trade line and there are no guarantees as to the effect of the removal of the trade line on the customers credit score or status. Updates to credit may take up to sixty (60) days to reflect.

I have been a long standing customer of ******************** in ****** NY for at least 5 years purchased over $10,000 worth of merchandise recently the store has under went 4 different managers unsuccessful of keeping one. I tried to purchase a dining set and was told I would get a free week then pay $10 the first week and never received the item the new manager then persisted to cancel my item and state to another store manager that he cancelled my item and had no intentions of calling me back after I called and complained they wanted me to make a full payment when I didnt have the item even delivered, I began explaining the free week and $10 on the first week and they told me them two weeks past already even though I never had the items and they were still in their business on the floor. How do you get a free week and pay $10 for the first week for the item you never even received? The manager from the other store directed me to contact corporate and ask for the district manager to call me back I have done this twice and havent received any return calls. Rent a center has harassed me, blocked people in my residence from leaving and coming in and made threats in front of my child, peeled out of my driveway causing marks in the driveway and layed on the horn disturbing my neighbors. I have asked for my service to be transferred to the other location due to the unstable actions of that store and their employees and can not get my service transferred. My payments are defaulting and Id like to start paying on them but not through that store where they cant be trusted with even my credit card info. What are my options from here where do I go without getting further behind and continuing to be harassed?Business Response

This woman at *********** rent a center has harassed me and threatened me for the entire period since I rented a laptop from your store. I've called corporate on her 4 times now and she's been instructed to work harassing me but fails to do so. She continues to threaten me and call me attempting to take laptop that I'm open paying away from paying fully off. I am rejecting this response because: I only have two payments on this computer left and y'all started harassing me all over again after my last payment which is ridiculous. I am not someone your gonna profit off of by having me pay full price for something then sorry try and take it away from me two payments from me owning it. My online account has been blocked for the past 3 weeks stopping me from being able to make any payment and that's not right either. I am a good customer I may have been large s few times but it's paid none the less and payment has been made 4 times working the last month and still in getting harassed and threatened I'm going thru enough I do not deserve what y'all have been doing to me and this is not right. My two payments will be made and soon and then y'all don't have the right to continue this bag business practices y'all are involved in. Y'all are not supposed to do this to people.. We are supposed to pay once a month not ever two weeks and I'm harassed and threatened every week more than once. I've contacted customer support cooperate office 5 times now because of this.. No one has said anything to me about renewing anything that option was never offered to me I've simply been threatened with court and harassed even though I've made those 4 payments recently conveniently wen I'm down to my last 2 payments y'all try and take it away from me that's not ok or right.Business Response

I rented a washer/dryer set on 05/01/2025 was supposed to be delivered on 05/03/2025. I get a call on 05/02/2025 telling me they double contracted the washer/dryer set and I would have to share with another customer while paying full price. I told them that was unacceptable and I requested to have payments put on hold until the new ones come in and then resume, they were unwilling to do that. I then asked for the contract to be cancelled and they're telling me they can't do that either and if I don't pay, they'll send my account to collections. They even offered for me to do my laundry at the other customers home or vice versa. They are completely unprofessional and even mocked my military service when I told them I'm a homebound disabled veteran. They supposedly transferred me to a regional manager who was actually the one who mocked my service which makes me think that was just another worker.Business Response

To start when I worked there they was always rude the sales manager always said bad things about me and what he said is and i quote you are a piece of s*** a liar don't know how to do your job you will never be nothing in life no job is ever going to keep you and then I got diagnosed with tachycardia and the store manager acted like it wasn't a big deal said he felt that way all the time and basically brushed It Off and that's the biggest reason I quit because they don't take their employees health or mental health seriously it's a very bad work environment I went in today trying to get a receipt for what I paid on an iPad and the store manager ******* crumbled it up and threw it away thankfully corporate sent me the receipt via email when I first started it was a good company and place to work but as time went by the true colors came outBusiness Response
