I was contacted by EZ CORP On 6/2/23 about a debt from a payday loan company that i know nothing about. I was told that i a $1,000 but the debt has been reduced to $620. 00. I told the man on the phone that i need some kind of proof, a bill or a statement saying that i owed this money.He said he couldn't give me the information unless i made payment arrangements. I was desperate to get the information so i paid $100.00 to get the information. I promised to pay the remainder, which i have no intentions of doing.The paperwork says: ORIGINAL CREDITOR NAME: EZCORP EZ MONEY ORIGINAL CREDITOR ACCOUNT # ******** REFERENCE#: ****** I was also told that the account was old because i asked the account was bought to your attention in 2020 and you are just reaching out.I have also filed a complaint with CFBP COMPLAINR # ******-11248504.I have no invoice or knowledge whatsoever who this company is.They also threatened to call my company to garnish my wages.Please give me some advice as to how i handle this situation.Business Response

EZPAWN STORE #***** manager name ************ company policy by switching my sale out with a different item in order to purchase my item for her self! She told me that her and another employee had planned to buy it and that I cant anymore!? What?? I asked her so you mean to tell me that since you wanna buy it I cant? She then stated it was not out for sale yet but I replied that her associate gave me a price and was selling it to me already she told me that shes sorry I felt that was not acceptable so I asked *** the manager at this store, are you saying that the employees get first picks on what to buy for them selves before we (customers) do? Prior to me leaving to my car in the mist of this purchase to retrieve my debit card I was purchaseomf the steam valve gaming controller once I came back it was swapped out and right before I left out she stated out loud to the associate helping me that thats the one she and the other employee wanted but didnt have the money today To purchase it. Now all of a sudden u took it back and I cant but thats is absurd Im sure a violation of your companys policy!Business Response

Recently got a phone call from a ez Corp ez money claiming I owe them **** from back in 2012 . I ask for information or paper work about this matter and they did denied till I paid the amount. They also stated that they can garnish my pay. No debt is in my credit report or have I received any collections letter or email. That number they call from see. Weird and I feel like it's a scam . I was contacted by a debt collection lawyer in regards to a debt that is said to be mine which is not. EZpay EZcorp has never contacted in regards to this matter. I was never sent any letters or anything indicating that they had thought I had owed a debt to them. This company has a reputation of not following debt collection laws. I have recently asked for a debt validation on 5/23/23 but there is no cooperation from the company to provide one. A lot of steps and years have been missed Aug they followed proper debt collection process. They also identified this loan as a PayDay loan and these loans are illegal in the state that I live in so there is also no way that I have ever obtained such loan. Also, the statute of limitations for debt collectors to take someone to court is 4 years and the claim is that I took this loan out in 2013.Business Response

I have received numerous calls (and they also keep calling my husbands phone looking for me) from someone claiming to be a mediator for the law firm representing EZ Money/EZ Corp stating the they are going to file fraud charges against me for an unpaid loan. This loan was supposedly done Jan 9, 2019 for $800 sent to a ***** Fargo account. When I inform them that I have never heard of this company and had never had an account with **************** she says it could be identity theft but I would need to prove it but the court would probably not believe me. However I can settle out of court. I told her I would not pay anything that I do not owe without proof. She agreed to email me something but it is still not proof.I have been receiving these calls daily for a couple months even though I tell them I know this is fraud and to stop calling.I finally setup alternate gmail account and asked for proof. I have received, and my family members have received phone calls from a litigation department, threatening to garnish wages add my information to check systems due to easy pay easy money loan that Ive obtained from whatever check cashing places from many years ago. This company also did a trace on my current address. They had information on me from jobs way back when and they also mentioned the name of the bank, but could not tell me anything in reference to what I owe they claimed that the company has been going through different collection agencies that has been sent to me however, that is a lie. I am not aware of this debt, nor have I received anything claiming that I owe an outstanding debt. I have recently asked for a debt validation letter, but I will wait to see if they send, however this is kind of disturbing because they said that theyve been sending collection agencies since 2019. I have great credit I dont have any collections on my credit and nor do I have anything that I owe and disregarded payment not sure who this is and why Im getting these calls.Business Response

Call received from ************ ***************** chief arbitrator at consumer impact solutions saying the plaintiff ezmoney Ezcorp stating I am being ***d for a loan I took out 5/06/2014. I do not recall this loan and he said he could not provide me any other details until I paid off the loan. I have never been contacted regarding an unpaid tier one loan I have never received a delinquent notice on my credit and now in 2023 they are asking me to pay them $1,191.00. I explained I was also a victim of identity theft. He said they will settle for $300 plus $10 payment fee. They said the plaintiff seeks to *** me, garnish my wages and push an attempt to defraud however I have never even received a bill. I asked to speak to the department directly but they said the plaintiff will not give me additional information. If I have an outstanding loan I will pay for it but I am very stressed and feel very intimidated and harassed as no one can provide me with original contract information. Please advise as to how I should proceed as this is causing me mental anguish and duress.Business Response

On September of 2022 I paid **** fees for my Son's wife aka *******************. The total I paid was ******** for gold chains and a speaker. *************** was there in the store with me when I gave the employee **** the money which was 18 hundred dollar bills. He gave the receipt to ***************. When I asked could I have a copy of the receipt he said could only give her a copy since it was her stuff. Now *************** has not paid me anything back and plus she has racked up EZ Pawn Rewards Points. Since I am planning on taking her to small claims court I would like a copy of the paid receipt and or at least have EZ Pawn to contact her to let her know that I have contacted EZ Pawn. On 2/23/23 I purchased an item from EX **** on ***************** totaling $654.90, sale transaction# ********* @ 19:02 hours. Upon gifting the item, it was not what we wanted so on 2/24/23 @ 11:15AM (you can check their security camers) I returned to the same location to process a return. Their website states that any item purchased and returned within 24 hours or next day is fully refundable. Upon working with a male employee ( did not get name) I was told I could only trade up. Manager stated I could sell it back to them for $255.00. I have sent email email to their contact page and left a review in hopes someone will call me and make this right.
