First time dealing with Health Equity. Submitted a reimbursement claim on January 9th. I was walked through the process and assured I did it correctly. Fast forward to today and 7 calls/chats later, the amount was approved and deducted from my balance but still not deposited in my checking account. The money is currently in limbo and every time I'm told that an escalation ticket is submitted but nobody can tell me the status from the reimbursement side because apparently they can't reach out. I'm very frustrated and at this point will be calling everyday until its fixed. It's ridiculous. I'm definitely telling my company about this experience.

It seems that I am not alone in my horror and disgust at how this company dysfunctions. It's unbelievable. I was lied to and told that I would get a card. Money from my salary would be taken and put on this card, and I could use it to pay for parking and health expenses at the pharmacy. The card has never worked for anything except for sunscreen. It always gets declined when I try to purchase prescriptions. It has never worked for parking. At first, it didn't work for anything, and they kept sending me new cards that don't work. It didn't work for a copay at an urgent care that's part of a major hospital system. I could go through tons of examples but I've already spent way too much time on the phone. The representatives on the phone all lie. They just make things up. I've had my call escalated to supervisors and managers and they do the same thing. It's like a dumpster fire. Don't do this. Don't let them have your money. I would give 0 stars if I could.

Encourage your employer to not use HealthEquity, Inc. for *****. **************** representatives are inexperienced and not helpful. Once I requested to speak to a supervisor, he was unable to explain why my funds were sent to a provider, where I have no balance, without my consent. After spending a total of 3 hours (mostly on hold), I still have not been able to resolve my issue. I have requested that the problem be further escalated. In short, I pay the provider, I contribute funds into my account, and ********************** sends my money to the provider that I have already paid. Now I have to also spend time trying to get my money from the provider.

HealthEquity is a scam in my opinion. They put so much red tape in your way that it's almost impossible to get reimbursed for legitimate health expenses. I have had an *** account in the past and never had such an awful experience as I have with this company. The debit card that they issue does not even work to pay a simple copay. And when I request reimbursement with the receipt I was given, I am denied because it's not an itemized receipt. However, the receipt does have the clinic name and address at the top as well as the date. I have to wait a month for the provider to give me an itemized receipt so I can ask for a whole $25 back. There is a reason that the reviews are terrible. I also have some serious concerns with them requiring an itemized receipt. Borders on a violation of *****, if you ask me.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) are regulated by the ************************ (***). The strict requirements for receipts and documentation are in place to ensure that only eligible medical expenses are reimbursed, which helps maintain compliance with tax laws. This regulation prevents misuse of funds and ensures that the tax advantages of FSAs are preserved.

I wish I could give HealthEquity a zero-star review. My employer and I have been communicating with them 2530 times since April 2024 to fix their accounting errors. We were repeatedly assured that the errors had been acknowledged in their portal, but that the tax forms would be correct. However, we just received our tax forms for 2024, and they are completely wrong. At this point, we are no longer hopeful that they will fix the issues. Based on our interactions with representatives and managers, it is astonishing how little understanding and competence they have regarding the subject matter. No one was willing to take accountability, and it is obvious that there is a significant lack of training among their employees. We decided to keep all correspondence and will send it to the *** when tax season comes. We have no faith in this company and have opened another *** account with a different institution instead.

In my 20 years of working and using the insurance industry, this plan has been by far the most horrific experience my family and I have had to deal with. For starters, they would only cover the prescriptions for me and my family in 2024 so even though I was contributing the maximum amount, everything else had to be a reimbursement basis use. So not only am I putting all my medical expense money into this account I now have to use out-of-pocket money and then ask for my own money back which is absurd. Then, as of the first of the year, the card stops working for prescriptions too, so even though the plan is still active, and the money is still there for some reason which they cannot say why, but is still under investigation, Now, even prescriptions aren't being covered so medications that my family and I have been on for years is being denied, And of course, expensive so we have to go without and deal with withdrawals.I would never ever recommend this company to work with our health plans. The customer service representatives are also unhelpful and rude. And trust me I did treat everybody with respect because I know what it's like to work in that industry.

Customer support is inexperienced and lacked knowledge and training. I called numerous times to get an HSA card issued for my wife. My original card was cancelled and they issued another card for my wife. When I attempted to use my own card, I noticed it was cancelled and they issued me another card. I then called to confirm what had happened, they cancelled the inbound card and issued another card without notifying me. When I received my replacement card, it was activated but did not work. I then had to wait another week for another card to arrive. When I used my HSA card to pay for eligible expenses. I was expecting it to deduct from my FSA but instead it deducted from my HSA. I contacted customer support and they put me on hold for over 1.5 hours and support did not know next steps.

My dental charges were "declined for payment" then the account was locked out until I spoke with a representative by phone. Then the 24/7/365 number has long wait times and is not available. Why require customers to call if you arent able to support this requirement. your 1.07 out of 5 star rating is well deserved. Try harder.

*********. Charging me admin fees when there are supposed to be none. One rep refunded them and now theyve magically re-appeared. I requested a call back from management and to date, no call back, despite my calling several times. The customer service **** at this company are clueless and speak like children. No, actually my young grandson could communicate better!!

Absolutely abysmal customer service.A few months ago I was locked out of my account due to some change in username. I called member services, and they changed the username to a default account number. I tried to use my card yesterday and it was rejected. When I tried to log into my account online, it showed it was frozen due to suspected fraud. If there was attempted fraud, great. Love that its shut down, but I have spent an hour and a half on the phone trying to get my account unfrozen in the past two days. I have spoken with 3 people, only one of whom was helpful, and one of whom was actively hostile when I asked about why it was frozen in the first place, and why I wasnt notified, as well as trying to understand why their member services department is 24/7 but their fraud department is not (especially because when I called while the fraud department was opens there was no investigation and no questions were asked to remove the fraud freeze, so why cant people in member services remove it? Whats the point of having a separate fraud department if they dont actually do anything apart from control the unfreeze button?). I was, admittedly, frustrated, but I was not raising my voice, or blaming the service member, and his solution was not to connect me with someone else, or try to address my questions. Instead, he just hung up on me, sending me back into the hold queue. This behavior was beyond unprofessional, and, he rightly guessed that I wouldnt bother staying on hold again to file a complaint that probably wouldnt even be documented in the system. There is nowhere to lodge a formal complaint besides with member services, who will most likely not document it anyways, so instead Im forced to write a review here. I was frustrated before, but following this team members unprofessional behavior, Im ticked off.
