On 5/17/22, a salesman came to my door to offer pest control services. I was offered a monthly service plan at $39 per month and that if I needed additional treatments they would come out free of charge. I have paid 3 monthly payments of $39 each to only have 1 treatment so far which was the initial treatment done on on 5/17/22. I have been waiting for my next service and just got busy with life to try to get it corrected. I have since checked my account online and saw that my next scheduled service is 8/30/22. I will have made 4 payments of $39 for two treatments. I thought I was getting monthly services and if I needed a treatment in between the month I could schedule a free treatment. It was not relayed to me that I would be paying monthly for services I would be getting quarterly. I should not have to call each month to request services for something I am paying monthly for, I have more ants, spiders and mosquitos around my house after this treatment than other treatments I have had before. I tried calling to cancel and got the same treatment as described by other complaints (someone picks up, transfers and then hangs up.) I am not going to keep trying. I don't mind paying the initial treatment fee of $39 but I would like a refund for the June and July payments, especially since nothing has been done on the property, and a cancellation of the contract. The original sales pitch is deceptive and made to sound good, while important details are not mentioned. I do not want to continue doing business with a company like this, so please do not offer quarterly payments for quarterly services.Business Response

I signed an agreement with Hawx the week before Memorial Day of this year do to my previous company's lack of professionalism. The technician came out to my house from Hawx sprayed my yard, and at the end of the service I gave him my credit card for payment. On Sunday May 29 I received an alert from Capital One indicating some transactions from Walmart had occurred without my knowledge or approval. Hawx Sevices is the only company I have given my information to. I contacted the company on May 31 due to the holiday, I spoke with a agent regarding my concerns and explained the situation and stated I wanted to cancel services because I have no faith in this company and that I am a disabled Navy Veteran with limited income. The lady stated that she was sorry this happened to me but didn't want me to cancel services and that she would pass on my complaint and concerns to an account manager and team lead. I never received a call back a week later I called again explained the situation to another agent and again was told someone would be reaching out to me 48 to 72 hrs. Around mid June of this year I called Hawx again and asked to speak with a manger, the lady informed me that I am not allowed to speak with a manager and hung up. I called a few minutes later and spoke with another agent I then explained the situation again and was told she would pass on my information and concerns but I needed to give them a new credit card to put on file. I told the agent that I do not feel comfortable giving you guys my credit card information again and I wanted to cancel this service. The agent then stated to me that was outside of my cancellation window and that I would be charge $249.99 per the contract. I told the agent I feel like you guys strung me allowed on purpose that I would not have a choice but to pay the fee. I demanded to speak to someone else stated that she could have someone call but I still needed to pay the fee. This is unacceptable business practice.Business Response

I signed up for Hawx Pest Control on May, 2022 and was told that I would be billed quarterly at a discount rate of only $40 by the sales rep at my door. Then they charged me $60 for the initial service, which I assumed was the full price. I called in to have my subscription cancel but the customer service told me that there was a cancellation fee of $240 because I ordered a yearly service and that's the cost. And then they encouraged me to cancel at April of 2023 instead to allow for the year to be over so there won't be any cancellation fee and I would still receive 3 more services. I agreed to that, but now they are charging me monthly at $40 and didn't even perform any service for any months! I am extremely furious because they are clearly out to scam your money. This company is a scam. A salesperson came to my door and offered services they do not provide. After multiple bad services I called to cancel the service - I was told there was a $399 cancellation fee. I opted not to proceed and decided to see out the contract. I was still charged a cancellation fee!!! When I called back everyone was confused and couldn’t understand why I was charged. I had to file a fraud claim with my credit card company to ensure my money was refunded. I’m still under contact, HOWEVER they don’t show up for bi-monthly appointments. I had an appointment today that NO ONE SHOWED UP FOR. No call, text or email - just a no show. Additionally, I’ve tried calling multiple times and someone just answers and hangs up the line. I signed up for a 5 month service contract in February 2022.The salesperson told me that we must treat monthly for 5 months to ensure that the full life cycle of the german cockroach was encompassed. I agreed to an initial service of $250 and 4 subsequent services of $117, to be performed in February, March, April, May and June, with the card to be charged after services were performed.First service was in February. Our technician arrived LATE with no notice that she would be, and immediately told us we had done everything incorrectly, even though we followed instructions given by hawx. She also made us feel like our home was disgusting, I was in tears. She took all of 15 mins to treat our **** sq ft home and left our shelves dripping with pesticides.March service was performed 3/12 but my card was charged 3/9 before my service was even scheduled! I called to tell that this was not the agreement, they argued with me and made me prove it to be so.In May, no attempt to service my home was made.In June, when they scheduled services I told that them this was month 5 of our **************** failed to perform the services agreed upon in month 4/May. I said after this I do not want to continue service because this has been a nightmare, they've been harassing me with customer satisfaction calls despite my request for them to stop calling for my feedback, and there was virtually no activity noted in the past two months. After the June ******** we had encompassed the 5 month lifecycle so there was no need for a month 6 treatment. The rep told me she would call me back and never did. Yesterday I got a call that they were going to perform treatment on 7/15. I called to tell them I would not be paying for another one as they breached contract by not coming in May. They told me too bad and they will not let me out of the contract unless I paid the termination fee. They failed to honor the contract and are trying to bully me into paying for another service or pay termination!Business Response

On May 25, 2022 this guy came to my door and said the company he works for offers pest control for around the house for only $39.99. I told him about my ant problem but I am skeptical of any salesman so I asked him is this a one time thing and he said no, someone will come out quarterly and you will only be charged once a season. I said ok and he asked for my card information and I said this isn't a contract right and he said it is and that it's good for one year. I asked him what's the cancellation fee and he said because they're doing a promo in my neighborhood we get a discounted rate on services and that they usually charge a cancellation fee but it will be waived if we decide to cancel within the year. I signed up for services and still saw ants crawling around my house. In the beginning of June I called for someone to come out again as part of the service and they said they didn't see any openings until July but because I'm a new customer they would give me a call back with a sooner date and I never recieved a call. I called back again at the end of June and finally someone came out a few days later and to this day I still see ants so clearly their product doesn't work it could be water in a spray bottle for all I know. Shortly after I noticed an additional charge on my card for another $39.99 I called back in because I wasn't supposed to be charged again for another 2 months. The person on the phone sounded frustrated and said they hate that the sales people say that because it's not true. I then called to cancel services as I didn't get the service that I paid for and lo and behold. They charged me a $210 cancellation fee. I informed them that their representative said it would be waived as a verbal agreement due to the promotion. I told them to check with the guy who told me this because I still have our conversation recorded on my door camera and they said they were going to have him contact me I never heard from him. I am rejecting this response because like I said the product didn't work and 3 days is not enough time to tell if a pest control product is working in a home but of course you already know that, that's all part of the business plan am I right? The company allows their sales people to tell the customer whatever they want to hear in order to get them to sign. The reason I know the company is okay with that is because they don't try to recify their sales people giving false information. For example why is it so hard for me to get my money back but it was so easy for you to take it? Isn't it doing more harm to your company by having an upset customer post unsatisfactory reviews on ******* Reddit and local community ******** pages than just to refund them their money? Why hasn't your salesperson reached out to me after all this time? Your salesperson was standing at my door and gave me the terms of the agreement verbally then told me to open the link to sign which you consider the acknowledgement when the customer is under duress due to high pressure sales tactics. I just tried to log back in for the video but too much time has gone by since I was first solicited by this person. Also I would like to add the first point of the contract and I wonder how do you think a customer would perceive this statement after being told you will only be billed quarterly? Please don't tell me that there is another point that contradicts this statement because that even further adds to my point about there being shady business practices.
"1. TERM OF AGREEMENT; AUTOMATIC RENEWAL. The Initial Term of this Agreement is 12 months (Initial Term). Upon expiration of
the Initial Term, this Agreement shall automatically renew on a quarterly basis (three calendar months) thereafter; provided, however, that
either party may cancel such automatic renewal upon written notice to the other party delivered not less than thirty (30) days prior to the
commencement of each such quarterly period, in which event the Agreement will expire upon the expiration of the then-current quarterly term."
A respectable company wouldn't fight t** for tat for something like this. They would do what they could to satisfy a customer. Who knows, maybe I wouldn't have been left with such a bad taste in my mouth with this company if I was made whole in the first place.

I had a man from Hawx knock on my door at 9:40 p.m on 7/12/2022. He discussed with me a pest treatment that would cost 39 dollars. However, there was no mention of a contract that would lock me in for a monthly charge. I attempted to cancel my account before I was charged anything and keep getting put on hold. I want to make sure my account is closed and no one will help me when I call both the ******* and corporate offices. I have changed my debit card information but would still like to close my account as this company is extremely misleading and did not disclose the full details of the sale.Business Response

On June 10th 2022 a Hawx salesman knocked on my door and solicited me on their service. After some Q&A I was sold on a one time service to clean the exterior of my home walls of insect debris including hanging pods and an indoor/outdoor spray. I confirmed with the salesman multiple times that this was a one time service in the amount of $89.99 and I did not want any recurring service.
When service was performed on June 13th 2022 the serviceman informed me that hanging pods could not be cleaned as part of the service as promised. On July 13th 2022 I was alerted via text about a service on July 15th 2022 that I did not request or want. When I called to inquire and cancel on this the service rep told me that I had signed a contract for recurring service. He could do nothing besides cancel my contract and charge me cancellation fees. I have now been charged $101.00 for July 15th 2022 service I did not request or want and $409.00 for cancellation fees of a recurring service I did not request. In reading the recent complaints against Hawx here on the BBB, this appears to be a commonly used tactic by their salesmen. Hawx really needs to investigate the un-ethical sales tactics their salesmen are using. I am also initiating a dispute of these charges with my credit card provider. My Complaint is about Hawx Pest Control
- A sales rep was walking in the neighborhood door to door. Explaining to me what they do and their process that options you can choose from. I registered to pay and sign up for the services they provided at a discounted rate.
-They came out did the service but did not fog my yard for Mosquito's as the Tech was only at my house for about 10 minutes. I didn't notice any difference. I was told by the sales rep I could call him or text anytime If i didnt see a difference and was not happen and I could also cancel anytime. I texted/called him and never heard anything back from him.
-I tried calling hawx to only be on hold for 25 minutes with noone answering
-I then called again I was passed around 5-6 times each time being told totally different things.
- 3 person I finally talked with said I was under a 1 year contract That was never mentioned to me by the sales rep. I would have to pay $200 in order to cancel he passed me to another person.
- 4th person told me I was under a 1 year contract and I would have to pay 400$ because it was under 2 different packages
-5th Woman I talked with was extremely rude yelling at me told me I would have to pay 449$ to cancel for 2 packages plus the initial discount they gave me. She then mentioned that I am not listening to her and what she was explaining to me basicly saying I'm stupid. She said she can just cancel the account and send it to collections that I wasn't going to pay the 449$. The most rude customer Service/ accounting person I have every talked with in my life.
- In final I want to cancel the service it seems like a scam. The first service was half way done. Still had pest around the house after 1 week. I was never told I was under a 1 year contract and being told I have to pay 449$ to cancel after just a 1 time service.

They come around offering a 1 time discount and then without telling you that it is a 1 year contract you signing up for. They come by spraying what ever useless c*** they spray that doesn't work. Then they charge you for cancelling the service. What a freaking scam!Business Response
