The company came to offer a pest control service, and failed to mention it is a one year commitment, and the customer is billed monthly. Then, the business never sent the copy of contract to the customer. The phone number on the credit card statement is unreachable. When the customer found out the real business phone number, and called to cancel; was told the 3 day cancellation period has passed, there is a $210 cancellation fee. The company also is restricted by HOA from entering our gated community after their initial entry because of the multiple complaints that filed against them by the residents. This company is a scamming business, and the customer is a victim of the vendor’s wrongful practices.Business Response

On june 11th 2022, a gentleman came to my door to offer Pest Control Services and he was incredibly and uncomfortable persistent. I told him I was not interested several times because I already had a Pest Control Company, but he convinced me to do a one time outdoor service for $ 49.99. I wanted to make sure he will charge me for one time only so asked him to confirm and he said yes, it was only for the service of that day. There were supposed to call me to know if I liked the service but they never call me back and me neither because I didn’t like the service provided. They never showed up again but today jul 21 I received a call from them telling me that a had a balance due for a monthly service that I never agreed and also was not provided, luckily they couldn’t charge my credit card because it was replace, but they are telling me I owe them and they are claiming they send me a contract that I never received. I also heard about lots of complaints in the neighborhood so I hope something can be donde about it.Business Response

Salesmen came to my door offered pest control services of which first one was free. Explained my package sounded great and legit for a great price. First free service the guy was done in 5 mins I thought was weird. I was sold every 3 months for the services then I get a text last week after a month saying they were coming out. I called and said no that's not my package well then was told yes it is your package and the man said he would cancel the appt left me on hold so I could cancel all services no one ever came on the line. A few days later I had $92 taken from my bank acct from them. Bank of America put a stop payment on it as services were canceled and still was charged. Then I called Hawx and was passed around a lot was told by one rep that yes I could and would be refunded and then noted my account and she promised a call back. I was called back by an extremely rude rep who refused to refund me and then said I would be charged $700 to cancel services! Well I was charged well over $1000 from my bank and again bank of America is working with me. I'm a single Mom struggling and now can't pay my house or any other bills I'm so negative on my account due to their scam. They are a very crooked company as I am reading on and on about poor service and the scam that they have run on others. I am sick to my stomach over this. The sales person that came to my door lied about the terms and conditions of the agreement. He mis represented the product he was selling.He said that 1) I wouldnt be charged anything again until the next service in the winter 2) that I could cancel anytime prior to the next service 3) that the company would notify me prior to being charged again.4) I confirmed with the sales representative multiple times that I would not be charged until the winter and could cancel anytime and he confirmed that.5) I was not afforded the opportunity to read the contract on the sales guys iPad.Ultimately none of what the sales guy said was true and I was signed up for a $50 a month annual plan that I could not cancel, with a $250 early cancellation fee. I did have three days to cancel the contract sent via email but truly did not expect that I was being deceived and took the salesmen at his word. July 4th 2022 a door to door bug sales man for this company came to my door and offered me services. He told me that I was NOT signing a contract that It was month to month and that I could cancel anytime with no fees. I lost my job and can no longer afford to keep the services and was told I would have to pay $250 to cancel. I explained what I was told by the salesman to the lady from the company on the phone and she said there was nothing they could do. That the tablet I signed was signing for the contract even though the salesman Said I was signing for the services to be completed. He totally lied to me and misrepresented the fact that it was a contract to get me stuck in something I explained I didn't want to be stuck in. I've been screwed over many times with contracts and explained this and he said no worries its not a contract and I can cancel anytime with no fees. This is ridiculous if he would have said this was a contract I would have never signed up. I want my services canceled and not be charged $250 for being lied to.Business Response

They came door to door had me sign a contract which was never explained to me if I cancel I would be

I also requested 2 subsequent visits because I was still seeing ants. No one ever showed up. When I called I was told they tried but couldn't gain entry but I was at home both times and no one ever came to the door.

Last month a salesman found my husband and I outside and offered a reduced rate for outside insect control.We asked if we could cancel the agreement if we did not want to continue. He assured that that would be no problem. I made the mistake of signing an agreement which locks me into a year of paying. I just lost my job and paying for this will be a burden. I called the company and they will not let me out of the contract which I did not know was for a year I thought it was month to month. The company says I can pay around $250.00 to cancel which is the discount I was offered or pay for the entire year on a monthly basis. I really cannot afford either and I was truly tricked by the salesman. I have for the first month and the second is due on July 17th. I am aware that I signed a contract but was truly tricked and I also do not trust the company to let me out of the agreement at the end of the year. It is $40.00 a month and I simply cannot afford. On 5/20/22 I a Hawx rep came to my door to offer their services. He discussed what happens 1st visit, which was the outside and inside. He then explained only doing the outside every 3 months. I explained that I don't mind the 1st visit having the outside done, but beyond that, I only wanted indoor flea treatment. I repeated several times that fleas was my only concern as I didn't have an issue with anything else. He explained that this would be $39.99 per month for 12 months. He showed me on his ipad that I was getting special monthly flea treatment. I asked over & over if this was just for fleas, he assured it was. I told him I did not want outside, or anything thing else. I can't express enough how many times I repeated, flea treatment only. He showed me the contract again, showing flea treatment & then he tapped a bit more & said contract was submitted. I trusted this gentlemen & did not re-read the email contract. I just read it twice. Big mistake as somehow, it was altered. I called in several times to try to talk to someone & was told there was nothing that can be done. I expressed how they got it wrong in tears. They told me I had to continue the contract or cancel & be charged $210. I told them I should not be charged to cancel because they altered the contract & what I agreed upon. I called the rep that came to my ********** agreed that I only wanted flea treatment & said he would contact his boss & get back to me. I haven't heard anything. I get repeated emails regarding the $210 cancellation fee. I don't feel as I should have to pay that as what I signed up for is not what I am getting. I did contact my bank & filed a claim against the $39.99 Hawx withdrew my account 6/20/22. I would appreciate the $210 cancellation fee be removed before going to collections. I was threatened by one rep that I was going to be sent to collections. I do not want issues as such. Please help have Hawx do the right thing & cancel my account w/no cost. On May 16.th 2022 We had a solicitor for Hawx in our neighborhood selling services at a discounted rate. The guy asked if they could sign us up for pest control services saving us money and putting down a safer product for our pets. I asked if the service was Quarterly the guy said yes and that he can give us the first treatment for $40.99. I asked if they do both Inside and outside of the home the guy said yes. He showed me the contract on his Tablet which is 3 pages long. As for payment it only contains the initial offer amount and no other amounts are listed. Since the first treatment in may for that. $40.99 The Technician shows up later that day to spray. He knocked on the door to let us know he was there. It was then that I found out they don't standardly treat inside at least that is what he said. He told us that the yard treatment would resolve any issues we have in the home. But I asked if we are seeing problems inside then what? He told us then call and we will come back out. My biggest issue and what we need help with. This company started charging our account monthly in the amount of $40.99. I called today July 18th 2022 to ask why they are charging me monthly for a ***************** of which they have only provided once. The billing department said let me explain how we do our billing. It makes no sence to me. I asked to cancel the service and to send me a copy of the contract that outlines in detail the cost and billing. He said he would email it but didn't. When I continued to request for cancelation. He then told me that they would **** me for the full ****** plus the monthly amounts that were already taken from our account. I don't feel that this was and is fair practice in doing business. I'm very upset and need help in resolving this. The amount that they are charging is ***** than double for the service @12 months that $491.88. Because they didn't say how long they will charge monthly.Business Response
