I was approached by a sales rep at my door and was offered service at a discounted rate for the initial visit. I was told it was bi-monthly after that. I asked if there was a contract. I was told there was not.
The first rounds of service were great and we had no issues but then we decided to sell the home and cancel the service and learned that we were somehow under contract. I spoke for what seemed like hours and wasn’t able to get anywhere. I delayed my service from there and haven’t requested it since.
From there i got a call from customer service asking about my experience for what seemed like every dang day for weeks asking how they as a company were doing. After repeatedly asking not to be called anymore i blocked the number.
I have had a total of three services. I am happy with the services rendered. I will glady pay for my three visits i had.
Today i got a text from a new number saying i had been billed for the amount that was discounted on my initial service..
“Because we have not heard from you, we have proceeded to close your account with us. Per your signed Service Agreement, you have been charged the early termination fee that is equivalent to the discount you received on your initial service.” - hawx
I was billed $349.57 today.
First outing: 27.06
Second outing: 97.41
Third outing: 97.41
By their message i should’ve been billed 70.35 as thats the difference. I will gladly pay it to make this nightmare of a pest control service leave me alone. I should be refunded the ~$280.Business Response

On June 13, 2022 I had a sales rep approach my door and advertise a one time service for $39.00 to try out their services and I should allow a week to see if the service took effect and they would check back in. I told him I would probably not be in the house for much longer and thought a one time service wouldn't hurt. I then find out that it was for a 12 month agreement and after waiting for the week to see the outcome I was too late for the 3 day cancelation period. I have only accepted the first service and would like to cancel all future services without the termination fee that I was not aware of.Business Response

A door to door salesman came on 5/7/22 to offer pest control for my home at $59.99. I inquired about contracts, reoccurring charges, etc. At no point did he tell me about a reoccurring charge or that I was locked into a contract for a year. There was also no explanation for cancellation of services. He did, however, tell me that their service was guaranteed. Looking back over the contract, they tried to sign me up and charge me for an "outdoor package", which I never signed. The contract I did sign is missing my signature on several places. And it states a service charge of $59.99 every quarter for a year. However, I am being charged $40 every month. In addition, after they sprayed my home, I had more bugs (roaches, earwigs, wasps, dirt dobbers, etc) in my home than ever before. Again, the contract states that the pest control is guaranteed. I have been trying to get this resolved through the company for over a month. I always get a rep that states that they cannot help me, will give a message to their manager, and the manager should call me. It's been a month and several calls made with no response. I feel extremely scammed. The salesman lied about the contract, they are charging more than the contract states, and their service does not do as it claims. And they do not respond to their costumers to try to have this resolved. I would like a full refund and to have the contract terminated.Business Response

I called to push back the date of service and they would only allow to push back a week. There was no way i could afford at the moment, it is a pandemic and all. I was also told when I signed up that I could cancel at anytime for a quarterly service at $92.01 a quarter. Id receive mosquito misting and charges included inside. The lady on the phone was rude and was unable to work with me. I told her to cancel cause I could not afford it coming out every two months, they never must and never did that the inside of the house. They were never able to get ahold of the reschedule and hard to get someone to call me back. They were unwilling to work with me. The lady immediately tried to charge my card for well over $380 plus but I made sure to lock that card with the way she was acting. I had two services done already so for remainder at $92.01 x 2 = $184.02. Why is this company trying to charge my card every 2 weeks for the month? I never received any paperwork telling me differently about me being able to cancel. ************* did not work anyways so Id like them the leave me alone, stop trying to charge me for services not given. I am rejecting this response because:
I begged your agent to understand the situation and she claimed they were they going to continue with a service I could no longer afford during this pandemic. She did not try to understand and got quiet rude so did state that I will keep the company off my property cause at this point they would be trespassing. You can remain with your discount. Like I stated before, your agent lied and tricked me. I did open the agreement and sign but I was being told what I was apparently signing up for so under pressure didnt take time to read. There is still the fact I never received service inside my house or when needing to cancel appointments prior to incident, I could not get a hold of anyone to cancel and left message and they still arrived at 8:30am. Then someone finally called me back 3 days later. At that point it was too late.

Your interior was serviced on your initial treatment and was not requested after this treatment. We have had Hawx for a couple of years. When we signed up it was a quarterly service for a quarterly fee, paid after the service. They apparently changed their billing procedure in the beginning of 2022. They said they sent out a notification of the change in December 2021. I did NOT receive one. The last service I received was in December 2021. I have paid through 4/27/22. On 6/5/22 I received another notification for a balance due. I called on 6/7/22, still not having received any service and them requesting another payment. After a long and unproductive conversation, I canceled the account. I received another notification on 6/27/22 for $34.99 balance on my account. On 7/11/22 I called again, disconnected the first two times. I spoke to four different people this time having to re-explain the situation to each one. All stating that it was valid, because I canceled after, even after receiving no service. When I asked the last one if it was then possible that someone could pay for an entire year and never be serviced with the way they are currently billing and servicing, and she said yes, that could happen. They were unwilling to remove the charge even with the knowledge that I had not received any service this year.Business Response

A woman named ***** came to my door selling this pest control companys services. We (and the whole neighborhood) have a bad ant problem so I was interested. I have a 1 year old who was crying at my side to see who was at the door and tries to go outside and 2 large dogs that jump at the door so that inhibited my ability to be thorough with what she had me signing. This woman lied to me about the services I signed for when she knew I was incapable of reading the fine print. I was guaranteed by this woman that I could just call the company and have them come out whenever I wanted them to and NOT on their reoccurring 90 days. I was guaranteed that I would NOT have to pay $49 every month but only when they came out since I was not having them come every 90 days. I was guaranteed that this contract was NOT binding and NO commitment. I was guaranteed that they would spray outside my house doing the foundation, spray the ant hills directly, clean up all spiderwebs and wasp nests, and that they would also do indoors since the infestation is severe. The exterminator only sprayed outside NOT indoors like requested even after telling him in person the day of. He did not clean all spiderwebs, he left the wasp nests on the ground for us to clean up, he did not spray the ant hills, and told me the ants do not live inside of house walls when in fact they do. I live in a duplex so that makes this issue even worse. They came out to spray for the first and only time on 6/9/22. They were scheduled for 2pm and arrived unannounced TWO HOURS early. It is now 7/11/22 and the ants never left, if not worsened. I noticed an email for another $49 transaction on 7/4/22 (which as stated above I did not agree to) and called customer service. They were no help and told me I could not cancel without a $200.99 cancellation fee or until they came out 3 more times 90 days apart with $49/month. I demand a $49 refund, cancellation with NO fee, and my info deleted. If not, I will dispute with my bank.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:the unsatisfactory services of the pest control was not main issue. I clearly stated that I was lied to and ripped off by your employee taking advantage of a young, busy mom. This is an unethical practice and I want to cancel all services immediately. I refuse to pay a cancellation fee that I was not told about. I was told I can cancel anytime I would like. I want all of my information deleted from Hawx Pest Controls databases. I informed you of all of my issues with this malpractice and the response I received is as if you did not read my complaint and do not care about my problems caused by your company. Other customers have had the exact same issues as me with this company and their complaints were resolved and their accounts were canceled/refunded/cleared of all remaining balances. I request that my issues be resolved as well since you are capable of resolving the same situation with someone else. I just want no further contact, services, or payments. Hawx sales rep came to my door 3 times in 2 days and i agreed to them spraying on 6/22/22 and all of the sudden my house is full of ants. Ive never had any bug problems in my house. Every time i try to call im put on hold and never get through to anyone. Now i have to hire another pest control company to fix whatever hawx did. Hawx came to my door, and told me I could get my house spray and since I’m a new home owner then I can get it discontinued without no other charge. They quickly skipped over the contract and had me sign, which I thought was just for the service. A few weeks later, I see it’s a service plan and I’m being charged every month. I call and they say I need to pay$200 for canceling. I told that them that they never discussed any cancel fee or annual contract. They just say they can’t do anything and I need to keep paying or pay the $200Business Response

Had a sales guy come to my door and give me the whole lay down of their service. He told me that for his indoor and outdoor package it would only cost me around $50 total well I was charged for way more… I was charged $85… he said the indoor service is only done 4 months out of the year and outdoor is done monthly but they have been charging me for both services each month instead of just the one I get. So I am paying them $85 a month when I only receive one of the service. I would understand paying the full amount if I was getting both the packages that month but I’m getting charged for both when they only do one.Business Response

I was contacted by door to door solicitation for Pest Control service that would be cheaper than the 60 a month I pay now. The Hawx Representative quoted it as 50 per service. I was sent a contract by email after the fact. I was than charged 50 per month for service every 90 days which is a total of 150 compared to 60 with the other company. When I called to cancel, Hawx then charged me another 199 dollars plus 50 for July and the original 50 charge by the salesman at the door so overall they charged me 299 for a one time service where they just sprayed my back yard. This is very deceptive practice and wat more than the 60 I pay my regular service. I am very upset!!!!Business Response
