1 starTerrible customer service, terrible equipment! The doorbell camera has to be charged! What good is a doorbell camera if it dies! This company has been deceitful and misleading from the time we signed up with them. Working now to get out of my contract that I was not made aware of being in until I tried to cancel with them. One of the worst consumer experiences of my life!Review fromYvonne W

1 starRun fast from this company! Unprofessional and rude customer service! My mother passed 3 years ago and our family continued to pay monthly bills for 3 years not being in a contract. The house is now vacant. My parents were in their late 70s when they were tricked into signing a 5 year agreement. Two months ago I contacted Alder to cancel service by phone and email. I met all their requests and sent in a death certificate per their request by email; went back and forth for over 2 weeks trying to cancel their service. To this date, Alder continues to send emails and text messages to pay for monthly services and still trying to charge the debit card that was on the account. I had to cancel the card because I realized Alder had no plans on cancelling the service. The 8 year old equipment did not work most of the time. A horrible and fraudulent company. Save yourself from the stress!Review fromGeovanni S

1 starI have called multiple times to get the camera system cancel and was told to give it to someone else or to buy it out for a one payment. That one payment is almost $3,000. Do I look like I have $3,000 just laying around. No I dont. Also they have told me that I have to stay with this camera system for 60 months. Thats 5 years. Who would sign a contract for 5 YEARS! Apparently I did and didnt know. The camera system isnt that good either way. Like I dont need to know when my door is being open or not. I can see my door from my room. Same goes for my windows. Like I can turn my head and its right there. I also have a cat and she like to rub her face on the monitor. When she did that the monitor didnt say anything and the police was at my door. Over all this whole thing is a scam. Trying to get money off of people. Especially first timers with new apartments. They also have three different number and two different websites this company should get shut down and refund my money I spent for a year.Review fromAlexandra D

1 starI am writing to lodge a formal complaint against Alder Security for issues relating to unauthorized contract renewal and billing despite my explicit requests for cancellation. Over the course of the year, I have made multiple attempts to communicate with Alder Securitys customer service to ensure that my contract would not auto-renew. Each time, I was assured that the auto-renewal feature was turned off and that my contract would not be extended without my consent.Contrary to these assurances, I was dismayed to discover that my contract had been renewed without my authorization, and I have been billed accordingly. This has occurred despite my diligent efforts to prevent such an outcome, including but not limited to phone calls wherein I explicitly stated my desire to terminate my services upon the contract's expiration. This situation has not only caused me undue stress and financial strain but has also eroded my trust in Alder Securitys commitment to customer satisfaction and ethical business practices. The lack of response and action from Alder Securitys side, despite clear communication on my part, reflects poorly on their customer service and respect for consumer rights.I am seeking the following resolutions to my complaint:Immediate cancellation of my renewed contract without any penalties or additional fees.A full refund of any charges made to my account after my initial request for cancellation. An explanation from Alder Security as to why my requests were ignored and measures to be taken to prevent similar issues for other customers in the future.I trust that the BBB will assist in mediating this dispute and help achieve a fair resolution. I am prepared to provide any necessary documentation to support my claims.Thank you for your attention to this matter.Review fromJameS W

1 starMe and my finance was excited about moving in together in our new apartment together. ******* on the phone with us tricked ** into a contract. He never mentioned anything about a 30 day policy. When I tried to cancel I went through h*** to talk to the person in charge of handling cancellations. They would keep me on hold, sometimes even hang up. I was very frustrated with this company because my fianc and I was very young at the time and I felt manipulated like many others by this company.Review fromMary E

1 starAlder is a ripoff! For one, I signed for a security system that works! I never agreed to having this system if I had trouble. So my monitor, said my battery was low. I called customer service and the man barely spoke Eniglish and told me he was mailing me a sensor and would receive it within a few days. Okay, after a few weeks, I received my equipment. I called again and he told me how to stick the sensor on my door. When, I did, it would not stick and the whole thing feel apart. They said they would have to mail abother one. I said, well then I should not be charged until I get equipment that works. They said they would not do that. I said I should not have to do this myself and keep receiving equipment that does not work. I asked for a technician to come, but they said it would take s very long time. I said I did not agree to this and wanted to cancel. They said they would send me a cancelation form vit would have to pay the remaining balance of ****. This company is a fraud! I am not paying for something that does not work. I have every right to cancel this junk! They can cancel this or I will see them in Court! I am not paying another dinrle for this junk! My bank has been notified. This company needs to be shut down! **************** is incompetent and they are nothing but a fraud! If something does not work, people have the right to cancel. ***** was eager to *************, when I first started, but will not now! They are a rip off!Review fromSheryl C

1 starI've been a customer for 10 years. I called them on Feb. 26th, 2023 wanting to cancel. They proceeded to tell me that my contract didn't end until Oct. ****. I would have to pay a big penalty. Then on Aug. 9th they called to check on my service. I told them that I really wasn't using it and wanted to cancel. He said it would expire Oct. 2023, then came back and said Oct. ****. So I told him that I could use new batteries. They came out on Aug. 30th to replace the batteries. The next month my bill went up $6. I got a call from Alder again on Oct.12, 2023 wanting to give me a better price and renew my contract. That's when I told them to figure what the penalty is to cancel my contract since it would end in another year. He came back and said that my contract renewed back in June 2023 for another 5 years. I was so upset when he told me this. I called back on Oct 26, 2023 to talk to the Senior Manager. I told her what had happened and that I had been lied to about my contract ending date. She kept telling me she was sorry, but it had been renewed back in June, 2023 for 5 more years. I kept telling her the dates when they called and told me my contract would end Oct. of ****. She said she would investigate my account and let me know something. Here it is Jan.17, **** and I still haven't heard back. I'm so upset with Alder. This isn't the way you treat your customers by being dishonest.Review fromRalph M

1 starIf it were possible to give zero stars I most definitely would! We've been with Alder since 2016, we called to cancel our services at the home we moved from back in Dec 2022, Thinking that we were no longer under contract, it would be easy to rid of this horrible company. Were we wrong! We found out our contract was automatically renewed because we did not provide a written letter at least 15 days before the expiration of the initial term. OKay fine! So soon after moving in our new home we called to have someone come to install cameras and monitor and almost every time they called to RESCHEDULE, week after week after week! We decided to keep services at our old home since family was living there, It got to the point that we decided it was best to let them continue to take our money from our bank account then to deal with the horrible customer service they provided. Moving forward to 11/2023, my husband decided to give them another try since they have been taking our money monthly with no camera or monitor set up in our new home! We have been waiting since Dec 2023 for a technician to come install them, just this morning another RESCHEDULE sorry of an excuse, this time they tried blaming it on the weather here in ***********, no rain,no sleet, no snow, nothing of that nature, just cold weather, the sun is even out! And we found out they upgraded us to the platinum without our knowledge. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! if you're thinking of joining.Review fromBrenda P

1 starLike so many others on here, I hate this company.... I spend over an hour trying.to cancel service that was renewed in June 2023 without notification. Truth is, they only call you if you owe them money. AND IN ORDER TO CANCEL SERVICE I HAVE TO BUY OUT THE NEW CONTRACT... 56 MONTHS AT $62.99 PLUS TAX PER MONTH. I'll take the hit on my credit report... I'm not paying them a *****. Worst customer service ever.... in order to "help" me they basically forced me to agree to a deferment that still doesn't get me out of the contract. And to make matters worse, the system gets tripped after I have moved out and I get charged $85 per incident whenever police have to respond to the alarm.Really is the worst company ever.
