Bought my GMC terrain in Sept 2022. It had a clean Carfax, no accidents reported with clean title. A year and a half later, I go to sell it and a potential buyer runs the Carfax. Comes back with severe accident damage report from 7 years ago and a salvaged title. I contacted Carfax with an inquiry as to why it would take 7 years for an accident to show up on there and a report dispute as I have a green clean title in my hand and the original Carfax report that was clear of everything. They told me that some records don't show up until later on and they can't guarantee anything, that you should always have your car inspected before buying. They have no phone number so you can talk to a person, only can through email. They have stopped responding to my emails. I can't get the salvaged title removed from the report. It makes me look like a liar to potential buyers. I'd love to see the evidence of the accident report and have them explain why they think it is salvaged. All I have learned from this experience is that it's an absolute waste of money to buy a report. They don't back their own product or their buyback guarantee when they are wrong.

I bought a high end vehicle in 2021 with a clean Carfax. I relied on the Carfax report when I agreed to the purchase price of the car. A year after I bought the vehicle (in 2022), Carfax updates my report retroactively to show damage that supposedly occurred in 2018 (before I bought the vehicle). This damage report that was added to my record 4 years after the fact has harmed the resale value of my car tremendously. I asked Carfax for a record of the damage report and they would not provide it. I asked them to prove that the damage isnt a mistake since my car has no telltale signs of damage. They would not do this either.

So at this point they will not show me evidence of damage, nor will they remove the damage from my report. Nor do they have a statute of limitations on damage to a vehicle. So be very warned that if you buy a car, DO NOT TRUST the Carfax report. They will update reports years later without evidence and they have no responsibility to let you know or offer you a process where you can legally dispute a report. There current process to dispute is a shame. This company is actually a shame and should be either shut down or forced to comply with consumer protection rules.

They are very inaccurate in their reports. I bought a report for $48.56 after tax and the discrepencies were immense. The report said the title was clean. Title still had a Lien holder listed. The title was pink and in Texas that means it was totalled by flood or fire damage. The mileage was not required on the tittle which means it was over 100,000 mile not 63,000 as stated on the report. It also had more than 3 previous owners accordng to the young man that was trying to sell the truck. His grandps was the 3rd owner and then his dad and then him.
I have emailed CarFax with this information and they have yet to respond as of a week later.
I will never use CarFax again after this experience. I would suggest no one use it.
CarFar should be sued due to false advertising for their TV commercials.

I got scammed for $50, I tried to dispute this by contacting customer support and they had no phone number to speak with someone, I emailed them a few times & they supposedly were supposed to contact me back but I never received any response! This company needs to get investigated asap!

No Customer Service, I asked for info on a recent CarFax.
"Lawyer Up!" I believe that Salesperson “Sej” and Iconic Auto Group, of Buford Georgia intentionally & fraudulently misrepresented and sold me a 2002 BMW M3 with a CarFax. I asked to resolve the situation and they sent me their Lawyer's contact info. They gave me a Carfax that reads 22,413 miles and "No Accidents". I took it to a BMW Certified mechanic, he advises "no way, probably more that double the mileage", needs $10k in mechanical repairs, plus it has replaced body parts/panels and repaints. Today the CarFax reads an accident was reported on the day I paid for the car. I asked CarFax for information on the Accident, no feedback. Now the car is worth less with an accident reported. CarFax appears to honor the dealerships more than the retail public. Never use CarFax again.
